The best Guilty Gear version?

I sometimes have problems with the series, but GG is still good.

Now I can’t really comment on #R or Slash, but I do have the first XX and AC. So for now, AC is my favorite. I love the fact that all the characters were updated and most everyone can hold their own. Especially for one of my new favs, Order Sol. If I remember correctly, I love the fact he can store is Charge meter by holding dust (I don’t remember that being in Slash).

I have a question for all you GG vets (AC question). When is it a good time to use Slash Back and what can you do with it?

I love the force break attacks so I love AC. Ky has been my main for 10 years and ever since Slash he has just been my dream character.

never use slashback unless youve been playing the game for 5 years and your name is FAB or unless your SBing the last hit of a multihit move like a blocked doobie ball

SB is mainly used to deal with certain moves. Like Eddie’s Drill and FB Drill. I suspect you’ve seen it. Eddie players using FB Drill for chipp damage/lockdown. Players would SB the last 2 hits to get out easily.

Another example is j.PxN. I’ve seen it here and there. To deal with j.PxN pressure, players SB one of the hits for an airthrow. Players even SB Ky’s SE sometimes. There’s also using SB to trigger Testament’s webs since activating SB will set off the webs and the SB “aura” will automatically SB the web. Players even SB Testament’s skull’s and EXE Beasts.

So to answer your question use it for dealing with certain pressure tactics. You can’t SB everything or SB a lot. Crimson Disaster says he does SB>VV with Sol.

basically you use the slashback to increase your tension, and only in the end of a blocked string of attacks, or pressure tactics, of course you will only use it if you are sure that you can do it

Don’t try to SB mid-air jP mashing, you’re more likely to get combo’d than anything else. Mostly use SB on the last hit or so of multi-hit moves to punish (like if you airblocked Badlands or something), or if your opponent keeps doing the same airdash string or something to that effect. So really it isn’t good to try unless you know your opponent/your opponent’s character pretty well.

I mean yeah I SB > VV with Sol to bust out of blockstrings sometimes and it’s hilarious and I’ll do it in tournaments if the opportunity is there, and it doesn’t take THAT much experience with the game to start recognizing some common strings/multi-hit moves/etc… but until you hit that baseline level of experience AND have practiced it, probably not worth going for in a tournament or an arcade.
Think of it this way, you will lose more on account of failed SB then you will win on account of successful SB. You also don’t really learn anything from losing due to failed SB. There are a lot of moves where you can’t really get a huge punish on SB anyhow (at least not without doing something fancy), and there are plenty of moves that you could punish/escape anyhow without taking a risk on SB.
If you have to be mashing on defense for whatever reason, your time is better spent learning to IB stuff.

That said… if you’re playing console casuals, might as well try it sometime just to try something new. Console casuals = go crazy and try crap, not like you’re spending 50c-$1 a game or anything.

IDK…I think about the match and I feel for my combos, so I think both actions come into effect when in a fighting game, unless combos aren’t a real factor.

In Slash, I don’t disagree that they did up Ky a lil more then needed. Sol wasn’t really a factor and the only difference between Slash Sol and AC Sol is his normals. They didn’t nerf Sol in AC like they did Ky, making Sol a better character again even doe him and Ky are in the same tier bracket. I think Slash was a better game because they toned down Eddie, makin him a beast and not a god, and up characters who needed to be. They should have kept Robo-Ky the same but not as much as his Reload counterpart. The thing bout AC is that the tides can be turned rather fast in a match and the game is much more noob-friendly depending on the character.

(I know this was a convo like 2 or 3 days ago but I’m kinda juss gettin in on the action)

Topic is now about Slash Back

Um, there’s a lot more differences between Slash and AC Sol besides normals.

This isn’t even a contest. Guilty GearX2 Accent Core is clearly the best version. I pity any fool that thinks otherwise.

I dislike AC because now I HAVE to do SWLoop if I want to stand a chance. And I’ve always sucked at SWLoop.

Whats that? Did I forget that you can really combo off 2D Gunflame or the fact that he has a FB Fafnir. He basically still plays the same.

Yeah, his basic overall design is the same, but you can’t play him the same exact way and get the same results. The biggest difference that I detected immediately when I first played AC Sol was that you could no longer combo into GF off of standing or crouching HS because they slowed the startup of GF. This makes a really big difference in his pressure and how effective it is because before, you could pressure with 5K-2HS -> GF FRC and it was basically a Burst-safe pressure string that led to massive damage on crouch hit. Now you have to pay closer attention when you land hits in order to bait Bursts and max your damage, especially since Burst was sped up in AC. This slowdown also makes his pressure less effective overall because it creates more gaps for people to get out. Then you have the massive tonedown of damage on his VV; in Slash, six VVs would kill someone. Really, the only difference in his normals between Slash and AC is that 6P got slowed down so it doesn’t combo off of 2K anymore and his j.HS untechable time got tweaked slightly. Yeah, he got a lot of “improvements” in AC but he’s nowhere near as flexible as he was in Slash.

In AC, Sol is the worst he’s been in any GG game in relation to the rest of the cast. It makes me a sad panda, though I don’t really play the game anymore. :V

HAW!!! Ky’s been too fucking good for the last two games, I love em both. I had it way too easy in Slash though.

I can’t believe they screwed up his 5HS GF pressure and took out 2K>6P. WTF…

I don’t play GG anymore either. I think I burnt out. I never played a game so much and got into a game that deep before.

I bolded the important part before someone barges in here with sand in their vagina.
