The best Guilty Gear version?

Do people only seem to look for combo’s when they’re watching matches or something? People who only look for combos, or only focus on combo’s whilst they’re playing, will surely get bored. And what’s with this ‘canned combo’ BS, who exactly are you watching; and have you ever compared GG combo diversity towards other games?

I’m starting to think that people are hating on AC as an excuse as to why they feel they aren’t good at the game. GG is fun when you actually reach a decent level playing decent players; AC is abit harsher this time around but people just can’t take it.

And when this argument is started by the same people that say “Ky regularly cranks out 60-45% damage”, or “Slayers mix-up is no better than Sol’s” then you know they either have it in for the game or don’t know what they’re talking about.

And it’s nice and easy to talk about balance in Slash when you yourself aren’t a Robo-Ky or HOS player…and some people actually have the nerve to complain about Johnny =/

There are gripes we will have about every GG game. I have gripes about AC, as well as gripes about Slash and #R. But so what? You get over them, because these gripes aren’t major, they’re just pet peeves

You guys complaining about AC you are sounding like DOA players, honest! How about you get good at the game?

Become great players and then complain, but don’t complain because you aren’t a great player. It hurts the community and will get you nowhere in terms of achievement within fighting games.

And if you aren’t concerned with being really good, then you needn’t concern yourself about whether the game is good or not.

I’m not gonna comment on rocket science without a degree am I? I’m not gonna base an experience based on what I see am I? No, you have to experience it.

It’s like classing Photography as something really simple and think “Yeah you’re just taking pictures” reh reh reh. Yet you wouldn’t know just how complex and thoughtful it can be until you actually LEARN it.

When you’re a GG player and your trying to become a great player and ascend yourself, you will hit these walls, and reach a point of understanding that will make you realise just how much more there is to the game than “combo’s”.

And most of you will have realised that, because it can do one of to things to you; either it’ll make you quit the game, or it will force you to overcome it and make that leap. And if you quit I don’t really blame you, but don’t try to drag others down with you.

I wholeheartedly agree with everything Aion just said, so I’m going to take this opportunity to say that Spirit Juice has not only the best Advice Dog version, but the best avatar on this site.

Good shit /v/irgin.

i see your point and you’re right however, you have to admit that ac have some issues, that for some people are more annoying than for others, remember that not everyone who plays gg and comes here or to dustloop or whatever community that they go, are people willing to get better at the game (the casual players) so if they started for example in #reload and see all the changes of their char in ac maybe he will get a little freak out if he/she feels that the change is for the worst.

I’m totally with you when you say that GG is more than combos, because it is, there are much to take in consideration in a fight in gg, and not only that ac is really well balanced (it could be better imo) to have a good variety of chars in the tournaments, thats is what it makes one of the greatests fg in the market but unfortunatly not many people realize that

Thats odd. I think what ruined AC for me was that it was more about high damage combos instead of out thinking your opponent. So AC is more about combos to me than any other GG. The characters in AC to me are like Sol is XX. Super easy dustloop (atleast that was corner only) for 70% + ftw. gg

LOL You haven’t even played the game, so STFU.

nop, i already played it, and i dont like it, it sucks, i preffer to spend my time in tvc its more fun, yes sf4 has a solid gameplay but its not groundshaking or anything like that

Where have I heard this argument before? Oh yeah…

2002-2003 Marvel. :looney: Mash Psylocke into ROM into Storm DHC anyone?

And if you guys are bitching about the combos, my god. Here’s a hint: STOP PUTTING YOURSELF IN A POSITION TO GET HIT BY THEM! You guys are arguing like those people with a “Tick throws are cheap!” mentality, or even worse those people with a “Stop hitting me!” or “Stop blocking!” mentality.

And I find it ironic how some people are complaining about AC yet aren’t complaining about ST and their Touch of Deaths/tick throws/really bad counter match ups when those things make AC look really user friendly compared to ST.

And I lol at those who say #R or Slash is more balanced than AC. Now let us look at each game and remember why ArcSystems made a new version of the same fucking game in the first place.

#R: Eddie ruled all, with the next 8-9 characters below him being somewhat viable for tourney play. The rest of the cast sucked really bad in comparison (lol #R Ky) in terms of damage output (lol #R Ky), okizeme ability (lol #R Ky), or zoning (lol #R Anji).

Slash: Sol/Ky dominated, with everyone else below them being somewhat viable for tourney play except maybe the bottom 3-4. The rest of the cast had to work very hard to even deal an equal amount of damage Sol/Ky could do or even get in to be able to do damage, and they had it extremely easy. Not to mention some characters had drastic changes that didn’t even make any sense (lol Slash Millia), and some characters became completely worthless (lol Slash Robo-Ky). Game was so fucking boring that it didn’t last long in competitive play (it was only at SBO for 1 year). Not to mention you can play like a retard and make a lot of mistakes and still have the ability to make a comeback because almost everyone did piss-poor damage, and you didn’t have to worry if you left yourself open to punishment.

AC: Eddie/Testament were good, but not godlike in comparison to the rest of the cast. Everyone has the potential to end matches in an instant (except maybe Bridget), which meant stepping up your basic game to avoid that one hit, as well as being creative to try to make that one hit turn into a game-ending combo. If anything, AC forced people to tighten their game up compared to the earlier versions of GG. Zoning and footsies are much more important, especially since they can turn into some 70-80% combo if done right, unlike earlier GG games where at most you’ll probably get some measly 20-30% combo if you’re lucky, which means all those IAD spammers have a reason to actually start thinking about what they’re doing. And since everyone can do crazy damage, the balance is much more closer than in previous GG games. Just look at Ruu’s Bridget turn any matchup against Potemkin into literally a 9-1 or 8-2 matchup in Bridget’s favor, and Bridget is considered the “worst” character in the game, and Potemkin is #3 or 4 (but then again, it’s Ruu…). AC does have some issues (i.e. some FB’s being too good, some being ass), but the game is actually fun and balanced in the sense that anyone has a good chance to win. Just look at this year’s SBO results where you had a fucking Anji OCV a godlike team of Potemkin/Millia/Axl in the semifinals, as well as a May player who OCV’d another godlike team in the finals. Not to mention there were NO Eddies or Testaments in the finals at all. And where are Anji and May in the tier lists? They’re considered bottom and mid tier at best.

People need to play more and  less.

How about GG Isuka? No one hasn’t mentioned it yet, must suck?

For the love of God, will you please stop exaggerating?! Only a few of the cast can do this, and even then it’s pretty rare. Either you can’t see this or you’re poor at math and can’t visually picture how much 70% of a lifebar actually is.

Considering your poor English, you must live somewhere in Pakistan. Which in turn, does not have SFIV.

and considering your comment you must be a stupid redneck

lmao @ playing a fighting game once, twice, or even three times and declaring it worse then a game that isn’t even out yet.

but you can tell if a game calls you or not, and definetly sfIV doesnt call me at all

Fighting games are games that you have to play A LOT before you should form an opinion on them. They aren’t like a single player game where you can play through a few levels and know what the game is going to be like. You have to use all the characters, explore the gameplay system, and most importantly play against a lot of different people to see what the game is like against different styles of play. You shouldn’t let first impressions dictate your opinion too much. Street Fighter 3 wasn’t exactly praised or even well liked when it came out, and look at it now.

personally i just latch onto one interesting character per game to keep my interest.

Slash was boring, but Slash I-No was GODLIKE.
AC is terrible garbage, but AC Venom is GODLIKE.

Nope. Puerto Rican. OOP AWW, junior. Thanks for playing. But then again, I’m sure you haven’t seen that screen on SFIV since you haven’t played it yet.

think whatever you want son, i dont care , still sf4 is trash

Oh SRK, how I love you so. Let’s hate on a game we haven’t played. YES!!! God, I love this forum so much.

Do you remember when I called you out for making extremely oversimplistic generalizations about how characters are played in GG (well, pretty much any game I’ve seen you post about)? Well, you definitely did it again here. The gameplay style you describe is far more common in America than anywhere else, but it’s obviously not the case in the highest level of play. In fact, I’m disappointed you would say this considering you watch so many high level matches? What exactly do you look for when you watch these matches? It seems like you’re a really passive watcher, just looking at the combos and not much else.

You don’t know if he hasn’t played it or not, and technically he doesn’t have to play it to understand it with enough (proper) analysis of match videos.

SO PLAY MORE #R. :frowning:

We miss you. :<
