Latest updates from the Arcana Heart 3 lab:
As I suspected, you can’t use the same Arcana for different matches:
Luck doesn’t seem very useful for Eko matchup and I’m better off with vine…
But, yes, Eko’s jump E is completely free against vine: like, when you see her in the air, just do DP Vine and you get a free combo.
(with Zenia, I do 5B into super juggle (I have a new one that doesn’t whiff)… with Heart, you get free 9K juggle combo; good times)
I still have to work on Eko ground-game (which isn’t that bad given that there is no need to go into the air during this match if you have plant equipped), but I feel better now that it actually seems plausible to shut down the most annoying part of her game.
Potentially problematic things:
Eko with Plant. Eko with Luck.
Like, Eko with dice would be annoying because you wouldn’t be able to get anti air for free… at that point, you likely would have to counter-pick Pokemon and go with something that will kill Dice startup, like maybe Thunder or Halo… but then, you’re suck against free Jump E again, so I have no idea.
EDIT:
Actually, as far as theory fighting goes, you should be able to jump-back air vine when you see the dice… that might work, but you will probably get counter-hit… which isn’t totally cool with vine because the enemy kinda just floats there as opposed to getting pulled towards you.
I think the only way to capitalize on vine counter-hit is to homing cancel, but I’m not sure.
Or throw out another vine?
==========
That said, going back to Schar: Dark and Halo are pretty ass against her… like, for real.
When I jump outside the range at which her chains can hit me, I cannot land Dark or Halo at all… I can maybe hit with Halo reverse-hadouken move, but then what?
I want to actually punish that bitch hard whenever she spams 5C; landing a single Halo special doesn’t cut it.
Halo super might work, though, but I only thought of it now.
But then comes the issue of all the free space between me and Schar during Halo’s active time… I don’t like that.
Also, Dark isn’t that great because, despite the fact that you can set Dark up to attack by holding down E and then releasing it during the right time, you lose your Dark blob charge if you block or whatever.
It’s probably great for meaty pressure to some extent, but I would not use it in the Schar matchup… maybe other matches or at least until I figure out how the hell to actually position the blob properly.
