I turn 21 next month x__x. If I can somehow pull a McLovin between now and tomorrow I might see ya’ll. Most likely I will sadlife by myself and finish watching the Unlimited Blade Works movie, which I never got around to completing.
I think I have figured out how to beat Scharla-what using luck:
Assuming she auto-pilots on the ground with 5C and Vine, what you wanna do is get out of her pressure range first.
Then what happens is that you want to SUPER-JUMP in order to get higher… then, you follow the super-jump with a double-jump BACKWARDS because, if she tries to air-to-air you with J6C or vine, you will block the attempt.
(this is very important since air-to-air vine can still potentially lead to 9K damage, so you want to avoid this as much as possible)
If she’s still on the ground when this happens, you want to cast a die and then follow this up with AIR-DASH and then HOMING; the die will cover your approach to some extent and, if she stays on the ground, this is your opportunity to go for high-low mixup…
Best case scenario is you get counter-hit with the die during an anti-air (5B) attempt… if that happens, make her pay.
It’s possible that when you cast the die, she jumps, but the air-dash should give you enough time to react and block if necessary…
In any event, you can pressure her like this since she’ll have to be taking it to the air more.
When that happens, you might find an opportunity under J6C to homing dash forward on the ground in order to close distance (just make sure that you’re in her face when you do this on the ground, lest you eat easy-mode vine combo).
In fact, unless you are completely in front of her, all you want to do is down-back until her chains push you out of her pressure range… so no guard cancel, reversal, super, whatever-the-fuck… just let her push you out of her range and repeat super-jump, double jump, cast die, air dash, homing in order to lay on pressure.
If she’s driving you to the corner, wait for the hole in her pressure to super-jump (SUPER JUMP, not normal jump)… as long as she doesn’t tag you on the way up, it’ll be hard for her to capitalize with Vine option select given that you’re to high in the air to follow up with regular easy-mode 10K combo).
So, yes… this feels viable.
It’s still not easy though because of how stupid the character is: I’m finding like a lot of ways to capitalize on a landed vine.

DKL I think you’re jumping through unnecessary hoops for that one. You should be able to get similar results using Halo (lol super jump) and not have to deal with the asstastic luck modifiers >.>
Halo doesn’t stay active as long as dice do (and will cost me a bar to capitalize on, which I don’t like); I could still get hit on the ground with vine, but dice explosion will save me because the postion in which it lands is surprisingly perfect.
Also, I get 7K-10K damage every time I land a combo from air-to-ground high-low mixup, so it doesn’t seem bad.
(in any case, the positioning I get because of die active time and fall arc seems worth any nerfs I get in health and strength)
I shall try out Time and Dark, but I remember not liking time because of what it does to homing cancel.

Yeah, with a ton of good musical people, i’m afraid there are going to be a ton of people there. I’m going to bring a full on Spider-man costume so if the line is too long, I’ll dress up since they said cosplayers can skip the line.

I’ll be picking up my preorder for MVC3 at the El Cerrito Gamestop on Monday night. Hope to see Chrisis and DKL there among others. Will promptly be going home and playing till I have to work the next day, return home, play, rinse and repeat. Oh yeah and probably sleep at some point, maybe.
And Chrisis, I dunno if you got my text but I think the Best Buy in our area is going to have an MVC3 kiosk up. We should check it out sometime this weekend!
Too bad there aren’t more Mom and Pop stores around that might have gotten it early. Gave Alameda Game Exchange a call and they said that they probably won’t get it till later and won’t sell till the 15th, but who knows. I’m thinking about popping in there either Monday morning or during the weekend to see if I can coerce them.
There’s also the possibility of Targets, Wallmarts and Kmarts that might have some dumb enough employees.
I love the many benifits that come with being under the age of 21… Hope you guys have fun tho.

Me and DKL showed up an hour and a half early and still didn’t make it in, luckily Zaku and MaNoel showed up even earlier and made it! 
Apparently I know a lot of people some of which are already playing MvC3 at home --; I should have gotten that hook up stuff done earlier, but may be able to get people to SFSU for games.
Yes we’ll be doing a Friday session barring unforeseen circumstances. Will try to get some of the awesome people with modded consoles out, damn I wanted to play Mahvel today X_X
I just got home. What an amazing time. I got there around 7:00pm and there were probably 600-700 people in line. I had to go full out Spidey to get in. Let’s just say there’s can going to be a ton of pictures of me online tomorrow… hahaha.
RZA AND Ghostface Killah were there. Met Seth K. Got free Capcom schwag, including these awesome shot glasses.
With all that said, I barely got to play the game… haha. But only few more days peeps!

Also, AH3 is quickly becoming my favorite games and I’ve almost entirely gotten over the character designs. I actually kind of like them now, like how you have that one ugly ass sweater your grandma gave you for Xmas that actually looks kind of cute, as long as you’re not seen in public with it.
