I haven’t gotten any PMs on the subject, nor calls. D:
i should be having a session in a couple weeks. 2 SSF4 setups, 1 MvC3 set up and 1 AH3 set up. ill let you guys know. KAMUI with plant is GODLIKE.
Looking forward to showing off some Petra w/Escaflowne, i mean, Tyr
Can’t wait Shytzoo! And you’ve been corrupted Taozen. =p
Also, if you all would be so kind I entered in the Romneto combo challenge and would love it if I could get some of your votes on it! Some people already voted for me. o.o MugenXero’s my name on the list since it’s for my youtube.
I figure if I can troll everyone hard enough, they’ll rage quit and switch to Chaos Breaker! It only took me 5 minutes to learn a couple BnBs.
I’m still not really feelin this game, but since I have another week to burn before MvC3, I may as well see if there’s something worthwhile to get out of AH3’s system. I need to get used to non-SF4 execution again.
DKL, dunno if you saw this already, just a combo vid that somehow trickled through one of my utube subscriptions =\

ah3 is godlike. im gonna be playing it serially. MvC3 is taking the back burner to AH3. kamui is just too damn cool.
AH3 over MvC3? O_O Wow, that’s quite a statement.
You should play Marvel 2 then since execution in this game is kinda easy mode… I’m like sitting in training mode for 30 minutes and I eventually figured out how to do that 10K damage combo that Vincent did during the meet last week:
Vine, 5A, 5B, Jump Cancel, JA, JB, JC, jump cancel, JA, JB, JE, SUPER
(I also learned that, apparently, I can’t combo into Vine using Scarlet’s pokes… that’s a relief)
But… that’s kinda what’s cool about the game: I can do any combo I want and customize them to make execution intuitive…
I still think there’s a lot of freedom.
That said, I don’t watch combo videos for this game and just kinda figure out everything on my own… is more fun like that.
THAT SAID, I’m under the impression that execution in MVC3 will also be easy-mode relative to MVC2…
But, who knows?
You should hit us up at SFSU then; we’ve been having a lot of people jump on.
That said, I’m looking forward to Epic Shytzoo sessions!
my new favorite plant combo is:
5B - 5C - Vine - 5A - [JC] - JA - JB - [JC] - JB - JC - C Tenza - Horobi
that combo did about 40% of Weiss’ life.
right now i’m trying to get this one:
5B - 5C - Uruma - [HC] - 5A - 5B - 5C - Uruma - [HC] - 5A - [JC] - JA - JB - [JC] - JB - C Tenza
the homing cancels are hard though.
also want to learn this first combo

that’s how much i like AH3. the mechanics are fun. homing is fun. the character customization is fun. overall the game is just fun. MvC3 looks like itll be fun, but i guarantee its gonna be a lot more tier whoring like it was in MvC2. So MvC3 will be a fun game for me to learn to play around in casuals, but AH3 is where my lab work hours are gonna go to.
not to mention no dark sakura in MvC3.
Obtained the PC version of AH3 today and grinded Weiss combos. Wind FTW; double airdash/triple jump, fastfall, good oki and crumbles like a paper cannon. These modifiers are almost masochistic. Drop a combo or fail to block, and I die XD. I <3 this game.
JACKPOT! :chainsaw:
As bad as the modifiers are, you’re still not Akiha Vermilion. Also, your dropped shit does not have over 9000 recovery frames on wiff while eating all 3 of your homing bars + EFC for the chance at a 2-framer 1hit KO.
But if there’s anything, such execution hurdles give you A LOT to do in the lab.
Fixed for accuracy =D
Man, I am having a very hard time in AH3 lab given that I can’t seem to kill wakeup jump… back tech is too good.
But, who knows?
I’m programming a dummy, but maybe I’ll be able to adjust my meaty timing in real life to compensate for different types of techs…
That being said, this MVC3 combo video is amazing:

Meaty normals seem to be quite bad in this game but you can do plenty of other stuff to have them pinned down: dice, ex pikachu, wind twister, time bomb, dark chomp goo thing, etc. Some moves also cannot be jumped in EFC mode…and if all else fails there’s always EXCALIBUR!!!
And don’t bother with marvel, here’s where the true hype will come from:

The female version of freeman they have in there ‘Carmine’ looks pretty spiffy.
Game looks hot, it’s the same guys who did Melty Blood!
Who’s getting Marvel on midnight launch?
raises hand
I’m back again! My Super days are on hiatus now, but maybe if AE comes out for DLC I’ll pick it up. What are you guys playing now these days (I’m too lazy to catch up in the thread)?
I’m definitely getting MvC3 at launch (possibly sooner if things go well ). Are any of you guys going to the Fight Night in San Francisco on Thursday?
The main problem is back tech: it’s very hard to meaty because of the invincibility frames: I tried programing a dummy that would back tech and, a lot of the time, I would whiff plant vine meaty.
(it’s kinda dumb: the vine clearly looks like it connected, but it whiffs; back tech has mad invincibility frames)
At the end of the day, I’m beginning to think that I just have to let people get up before I pressure them again…
But letting people get up without being in blockstun is annoying with characters like Zenia because not being in blockstun allows the possibility of wakeup jump and I hate my opponent jumping because I don’t do big damage/pressure in the air (or, at least, I haven’t figured out how to).
Flower super is viable with regards to keeping people pinned down, but back tech still works in a lot of cases where the spacing isn’t right.
I mean, even if I anti-air something with Zenia, what do I go into?
With Scharl, if I anti-air something, I can go into like 9K damage with easy-mode combo.
ANYWAY, I might be backing off of Zenia right now given how limited her damage options seem… the fact is that I can’t devise a great way to pressure people with Zenia, so I might make a switch to Heart full-time.
(I also seem to like Elsa because Holy Water is annoying and she does a shit-ton of damage with anti-air axe)
As long as it’s on the PS3, I will import it and learn how to play it.
Me and Chrisis will hit up El Cerrito tournament… I am still hoping that Chrisis will win it for free.
But, who knows?
We are actually showing up at the Thursday thing.
That said, yeah, a lot of us are just making the switch to Marvel when that comes out.
We need more Chaos Breaker discussion…but from the little I played, I’ll theory fight with you a bit…
Is it possible to air throw air teching in AH3? Seems like if you mash homing enough to stay in their face, you can try and anticipate a tech.
Towards the end of Saturday’s session, I got a small understanding of air footsies. After I got KO’d and the pre-round dance starts, lumpia would try to prevent me from getting into open space by predicting my jumps and IAD attemps by blocking with his own jumping. Maybe if people are spamming jump on wakeup, you can use similar tactics, get in the air and block them from flying away. The closer the opponent’s back is to the corner, the less room there is to fly, which applies pressure by superior positioning. Just my noob cents shrug
