The BERKELEY EUDEMONIA Legacy (relocating to the SFSU Dojo thread!)

Then let’s find some chance in the middle of the week to work on team DKL reviews. XD

Wait, by the way: what does “/” mean?

/ means land /\ means super jump or super jump cancel.

If I could get non shitty versions of the vids up I would. =/

This should make shytzoo happy, Sak potentially top 5.

if you guys are having withdraws, ill check to see if we can start the sessions early at sfsu. ill still need to meet with the dining center people to finalize the dc room, but we could use the mary park lounge room. also future note, i might not host the dojo on sat the 8th cause i am going to a winter party with family, if you guys are down to have a session on sun, that i can do.

I spent a good amount of time watching this last night: that Sakura player from Chinatown fair is amazing.

This is good as XBL is leading to rage… what would be the earliest we could have it?

Also, we gotta confirm with people in the Dojo thread as well; can’t have one of these and then no one shows up…

Yeah, it’s like WWII the RPG, which I really like (European theater is my favorite settings for FPS). And I feel you on the misses. It really sucks when like 2-3 of your rifle shots miss. Man, I might actually try to progress in VC now. It’s been popular enough to merrit VC2 and VC3 (for the PSP?).

Yeah, I was like: why put the sequels on the PSP?

Did the game bomb on the PS3 or something?

That said, the boss battle with the gigantic tank in the desert was annoying… I had to retry a bunch of times because of the following:

-Didn’t know that you were supposed to knock rubble down, not destroy it: I ended up destroying one of them, which was stupid since it being broken meant that it wasn’t going to block the tank’s way and I would be free.

-I got fucked up when they sent in the reinforcements unexpectedly after I destroyed the second radiator: I was under the impression that I would get more time than that, but no: the game just lunges shit at you during the worst time when your positioning is all fucked up and everyone is away from a point of escape (especially the slow-ass lancer people).

But, still, it’s satisfying when you finally win it… on the other hand, it’s annoying that it devolved into trial and error: the game doesn’t tell you at the beginning of the mission that you can call reinforcements in at 2 other fucking bases (they only let you choose initially from two spots, one spot being right in front of the fucking behemoth tank)…

So I have all 8 of my units out, but they’re in places where I don’t want them to be (in front of the behemoth tank… in the line of sniper fire… away from retreat points).

WTF.

So, how does Tuesday sound for the glory that is Marvel?

I was thinking more along the lines of Thursday…

Mainly because I only seem free on that day; I didn’t know that this Saturday was New Year’s day for some reason.

WTF.

EDIT:

That being said, if you’re free on Thursday, what time would be the earliest I could show up?

I probably won’t stay too late since I’ll need to catch a bus ride back home.

My days are very malleable as far as scheduling is concerned, so like 1 in the afternoon or so would be the earliest.

Cool, so let’s try to finalize stuff by Wednesday.

I’m gonna get some Bnb practice in and then hopefully it won’t be too terrible.

THAT SAID, I went to Metreon today and was hoping to try Super Expensive Fighter 4 for a couple of rounds, but then the machine has disappeared; I’m to assume that they just ditched the thing as it probably wasn’t making money.

That said, as usual, there was a Marvel Player sitting there waiting for people to show up…

Would’ve hopped on if I wasn’t so free.

Ha ha. That’s actually the level I’m stuck on. As soon as that lady came out and starting killing off my units I just gave up. I haven’t touched the game since. ^__^’

that level is actually really easy… if you make use of your “orders” such as all defense, the blue haired bitch does like 0 dmg.

from that level on you learn that “orders” make impossible levels retardedly easy. i think PSN had an extra hard mode DLC for that which im probably gonna pick up

I have actually never used an “order”…

Which is stupid because I’ve bought two of them from the dude in the cemetery forever ago.

I need to start using all of the functionality in the games I play…

Talking about hard games: I FINALLY finished Resident Evil Zero, which is amazing since my first playthrough was on hard mode and winning the last boss fight literally hinged on whether or not my AI partner would stop being fucking retarded.

Suffice to say, it was a long and painful set of retries… and I literally only had two handgun bullets by the time I finally beat it.

But thank god I did it: I can finally play Rune Factory for the Wii…

Interestingly, my first virtual week into the game, RF Wii doesn’t seem as rife with content as its DS brother Rune Factory 3, which is really surprising given that I assumed that stronger hardware would lead to proportionally more awesome.

It’s still pretty awesome, however.

On the Hard EX DLC, you can’t use tanks and thus, can’t give out orders (actually, none of the DLC missions permit orders). The only two orders I found useful were the demolition orders (so a scout can take out a tank), and the one that gives a unit 100% aim for one turn (for when I need a lancer to headshot someone).

Scouts are way, way overpowered in that game :bgrin:

Chris, can you PM me your address?

Assuming I don’t sleep like 5am in the morning, I’ll try to make it to your house around 1PM.

? ? ? ? !!!

Hello everyone, a Bay area native, recently moved back to the Bay from South Korea. Been pretty busy since I initially got back and tried to get some fight sessions started earlier this winter but to no avail. Now I’m settled in a bit more I want to start getting into the norcal fgc for serious. Since I live in Oakland I think your berkeley sessions would be the best thing for me. Looking forward to eventually meeting up with some of you during one of your weekend sessions, considering space is still open and you are still accepting people from all walks of life. (I’m not gay or trans or whatever but I am not happy with intolerant people. In South Korea this was the biggest problem in the FGC, homophobia and racism and I’d like to avoid this when getting into the FGC here in America).

HELLO AND WELCOME [back] TO THE BAY AREA.

Actually, PM me contact info so I can keep in touch (or keep glued to this thread): there seems to be a transition now and we are currently going to SFSU to have sessions:

It’s free of cost and sponsored by the university; there’s a meet THIS Saturday on the 1st: I won’t make it because of family plans, but some people who regular here will go.

Look in thread (and post) for more details:

http://shoryuken.com/f23/sfsu-bi-weekly-dojo-253079/

This is a much better venue than the Eudemonia gig since it’s free and is only a BART ride away; you have to take Muni from DALY CITY (?) BART, but it’s still pretty cheap in the long run.

(as opposed to the $32 per setup at EU… also, the physical space for playing provided by the university is HUGE)

We actually have carpools that go there from North Berkeley, but Marcos and Manny are currently on vacation.

Anyway, hit me up and we hope to see you soon.

That said, yeah, the FGC is pretty out there, but we try to keep it as classy as possible even though half the time it seems like I’m just in here complaining about the latest games I’m playing.

OH ALSO, SFSU will be a great location in the coming months since the arcade near the area will be getting AE soon…

Essentially, we walk(?) to the arcade, play a few rounds, then we can go back to the dojo for X-Box play…

It’s gonna be awesome.
