You’ll notice that yeast isn’t included either, but somehow they were able to ferment the beer! I’ll bet it was through magic.
What bar do you work at 3b1r4h?

Hey guys whats a good tasting beer thats not bitter as fuck. I’ve tried a bunch of random things my friends have had over the years and none of it has ever been anything I would consider drinkable. Any tips, advice, something?
Firstly, are you and your friends drinking out of the bottle? Doing so is a major cause of harsh and bitter taste. I am dead serious about this. Simply pouring your beer into a glass can raise it from shit-tier to god-tier. CO2 is a source of what people say is “bitter” and by pouring the beer, you burn a lot of it off. Also, you can’t smell a beer from the bottle, but you can if it’s in a glass, and that will affect your tasting experience.
Here is a video on how to pour beer:

Secondly, don’t drink a beer that’s too cold, unless it’s the yellow fizzy stuff. You want to keep it out for a bit and let it warm down a few degrees. When a beer is too cold, it numbs your taste buds and you can’t taste the flavors of the beer. Rule of thumb is the darker the beer, the less cold it should be.
Lastly, I’ll recommend you Franziskaner Hefe-Weizen. It’s a very popular wheat beer and you can most likely find it at your supermarket. Definitely one of my top favorite beers. Everyone I’ve introduced this beer to ends up liking it or at the very least, finds it tolerable. Still, that’s a pretty big deal considering most people I know drink Bud/Miller/Coors and find anything different “too strong” or “bitter”. Franziskaner should be very nice, smooth, and a little bit sweet.
If you can’t find this, try to find any Wheat beer (not Bud Light Golden Wheat though) or Hefeweizen (German for wheat beer). Sam Adams has one called Coastal Wheat. There’s also Widmer Hefeweizen, but I haven’t tried that one yet. Sierra Nevada Kellerweis is godly if you have access to it.
When I first started drinking beers the easiest to get into were Hefe’s and whites. I recommend Pyramid Hefeweizen, Widmer Hefeweizen, Blue Moon, and the first beer I ever really loved Leffe Abbey Blond.
Now adays I pretty much only fuck with IPA’s and IIPA’s and the occasional IIIPA. Favorite include Hopsickle, Tricerahops, Pliny the Younger and Pliny the Elder, and Hop Stoopid.
Um I’ve tried from the bottle, the can and glass. glass most of the time when I’m at a bar and i just try something random or something people recommend but never had much luck honestly. I just feel like at 25 i should be drinking something besides cola all the time when i go hang out. It’s not a pure pressure thing or anything and I’m not in the mood to get blasted or anything. I don’t really like being drunk but it would be nice to get a little buzzed with the guys instead always having to get stoned before, or after we go out.
Anyway thanks Tuna I’ll give those a look. I’m sure the packing store must have some of those. We don’t sell in the grocery store here but there are a lot of Packys around.
they added yeast later when they figured out what it is.
also, according to my german friend the definition of barley and wheat (as used in beer) is a little more broad in actual german, so whereas we define barley and wheat as two completely different things, the germans see it as more of a variation on the same thing. (at least thats what i thought he was getting at)
yeah we got those
Local bar had a Russian River night, with pretty much all of their beers on tap (besides Pliny the Younger.) Their sours are pretty incredible. I’m not a fan of the flanders brown style, but something like Temptation has a puckering dry tartness that is irresistible.
consecration is my shit. we have damnation on tap right now with consecration behind it. we’re doing a stillwater event tonite with a bunch of their beers i’ve never heard of, so that should be fun! only cali and philly get russian river tho… we are spoiled =)
I love Belgian Beer! They’ve got over a 1000 different over here but i haven’t tried 20 of them yet.
I want to taste at least 250 different ones before i graduate here.
Yeah, it’s all fun until you get raided by the PLCB.

A little while ago, a bar in Philadelphia got raided for selling unlicensed beer. The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board sent their agents to do some dumb shit or something. Here just read about it. Troopers raid popular bars for unlicensed beers | Philadelphia Daily News | 03/08/2010
Supposedly the beer that was the spark that set everything in motion was one of the Pliny beers being sold.
The alcohol laws in the US are so fucking archaic, it drives me insane.
In other news, I had some Younger this weekend. Dare I say… worth the hype (and better than last year, IMO.)
Just started doing some beer trading lately. It’s fairly easy for me, since I live in SoCal, and most of our beers are in demand. Here’s what I’ve got in the last two weeks:
Surly Furious
Southern Tier Creme Brulee Stout
Lots of Brooklyn Beers (Local 1/2, Sorachi Ace, Black Chocolate Stout, Lager)
Nugget Nectar
Bell’s Two-Hearted Ale
I’m going to take a break from it for a bit, since it’s so expensive to ship this stuff via FedEx. It’s fun though.
Get a Belgium Labic, Raspberry is awsome, or get some balls and drink a double IPA like Bell’s Hopslam if you can still find some.
Do you work at Monk’s or Eulogy?
Avery Salvation Army and Guldeen Draak are my favorites. For casual parties Yuengling
So my job decided to have an office party at a steakhouse before work and an open bar (lol) for the Christmas Party.
So, I ate something like 5 sliders, a bunch of shrimp, several lbs of filet mignon (I got pretty much the entire middle—had it rare…the benefits of being a totally charismatic drunk that the guys cutting the meat want to give everything to)…
and of course the drinks. You don’t open bar me. Now…granted, I’ve lost a lot of the muscle mass I had a few years ago and so I can’t pound things down like my 185-195 lb version of me can…I clocked in at around 170 lbs (partly because I had to cut down to 160 lbs a few days earlier and didn’t want to cut all the way from 185 for that).
I started with a Long Island Iced Tea. Then went to 3 Sam Adams. Followed that up with 2 Sierra Nevadas. Then got an Old Fashioned. Then went with 3 Stellas (on tap) and finally finished up with 3 Guiness.
I got fired from that job about a month later. I am not sure if the two are related. It is possible that they are.
My new favorite beer is definitely Guiness. I’m still a huge fan of Sam Adams though. Obviously not everything I drank was a beer that night…but I did drink a lot of beer too.
After work ended about 3 and a half hours or so after my last drink, I drove home the twenty miles without incident. Completely sober, no hangover the next day. That night is pretty much the highlight of my profession career. I “worked” about 3.5 hours, got paid for 8, got a $50 gift card, ate a bunch of steak and was so totally out of it I had no idea where I was until it was time to go home. And the pay, of course, was an attorney’s pay. Not the super high end attorney’s pay, but still it’s attorney wages so it’s not like it isn’t a solid day of wages.
Now since I’m very cheap and totally straight edge, I haven’t drank since then. I don’t actually drink. I drink maybe once every few years. But man, I kept wanting to get a beer for a couple of weeks after that, but since I’m cheap, again, didn’t want to pay for it. I gotta find me a job with an open bar one of these days…an open bar like every night.
Hahahahaha yeah funny story…
But anyway, those raids were totally BS and everyone knows it. AND all this beer is registered in the state.
also tuesday we’re doin a russion river event…
Russian River Pliney the Elder
Russian River Damnation
Russian River Blind Pig
Russian River Sanctification
Russian River Redemption
I don’t think younger is worth the hype but it’s defnitely one of the best dipas.
yeah i work at eulpgy
