The Batman thread: Out of the shadows baby

What’s the name of the episode from the old Batman cartoon where Mad Hatter puts Bruce into a coma and Bruce dreams that he isn’t Batman and is married?

The Dark Knight was the best movie I’ve seen this year. Don’t get me wrong, both Hulk and Iron Man were great movies but Dark Knight was just excellent. Good year for comic book popcorn flicks.

Perchance to Dream.

Leave, and NEVER come back.

Thanks mate, I’m asking cuz someone at another forum asked about Mad Hatter and thought I’d interest him with that ep.:woot:

He wasn’t actually married. I think he was engaged. Very reminiscent of “For the Man Who Has Everything.”

WTF. Get the fuck outta here with that bullshit.

It’s just that right about the time the leader’s in the cell asking the cop if he has any kids, Robin’s posing as a mutant who everyone’s convinced is the leader’s girlfriend. Even though she’s like, what? 12?

Somebody pointed this out to me. I’m not as crazy as this shit sounds.

He was trying to get the cop to drop his guard. What he said is pretty loaded and could mean anything or nothing.

i talked about this in the batman movie thread. but ill just post the think. its based off of the batman arkham asylum novel. has anyone ever read it?

i found some shitty fan films, including one which had great film production value…but had batman getting tazed in the nuts AND getting it up the ass. i was pissed.

but this trailer came like a beacon of light. gotta watch it more than once and know the back story to make any sense out of it

i want more info on this trailer. i know its done by a professional director, but still its amazing they can do that

Someone asked me to find this Batman comic; in it the Joker finally kills Batman, but isn’t pleased with killing him because there wasn’t a ‘crowd’ around for the event. Does anyone know what it is?

It’s pretty good, and up there on the list of the best Batman graphic novels. It has some of the most realistic depictions of Batman’s Rogues’ Gallery. It also features the scariest Joker I’ve ever seen, but he only plays a bit role and doesn’t get enough time to go apeshit.

McKean’s artwork in that book gives me the friggin’ heebie jeebies. I can’t think of many other comics that have done that. Maybe chapter six of Watchmen.

Also, I started reading the Batman & Son TPB today, but I didn’t get very far. As soon as I got to the line “Ninja man-bats,” I immediately closed the book and put it back on the shelf.

Up to that point, aside from the oft-retrod idea that Bruce Wayne needs to occasionally take a breather from the Batman persona in order to keep it together, there wasn’t a shred of anything interesting. It’s stories like this, that don’t exist for any reason other than for the villains to throw increasingly ridiculous scenarios at the heroes, that are the reason why the term “comic book” is still used as a pejorative. It’s the reason why so many reviews of The Dark Knight have to start with “This is so much more than just a comic book movie.”

Uh, not to be a snob or anything.

Yeah, I really don’t know what Morrison had in mind when he wrote Batman and son.
That detective story with all the mock Batmans, however, was quite awesome.

Yeah, I don’t know what to think about Morrison’s run on batman. It’s… interesting, to say the least.

Batman and son, Three Ghost, Club of heroes. all of them are pieces of the big picutre of the RIP story which is even more intersting and crazy

Morrison’s entire run on Batman (with the possible exception of The Club of Heroes story) has been complete and utter bullshit so far.

Even regardless of this ridiculous storyline, how could DC not find a single decent artist to put together with a writer as good as Morrison on a book as high profile as Batman?

It’s so fucking stupid.

It is disappointing how DC failed to provide Morrison a consistently good artist. JH Williams was the best dude he’s worked with on Batman, and that was only for about three issues. I really think the stories would have been more coherent if Morrison had better artists. At least Detective Comics has Dustin Nguyen now, but I think Tony Daniel’s horrible, dude. His stuff looks like '90s Image or Top Cow stuff.
