after playing a little bit i think the tier list looks like:

S: ryu
A: a bunch of characters like dante, she-hulk
i’m pretty sad that ammy sucks
sent and storm are nerfed to shit and they are useless
Hey i was watching those combo vid’s for dante posted on the front page today, i think some of dante’s specials require meter. Can anyone double check me on this to make sure i’m not crazy?

February 26th 6:45 pm tournament begins
Single elimination
$3 entry fee. $15 gift card to gamestop for 1st place. $5 gift card for 2nd.
If 10 or more people enter (pay their entry fee), then the prize levels go up to $20 and $10.
as far as setups go we might use 2-3 stations on smaller screens and maybe have the finals on the new HD projector they will be getting soon (hopefully it won’t lag much as it is native 720p)

I just got back home just now. After playing for a bit, I finally found my “Team WAT (Wesker/Amaterasu/Trish)”. Love playing mind game rushdowns with Wesker only to finish off with the WAT X-Factor Chain. Gotta get Wesker down mostly though for now and Trish’s wave dash is sick!

no it isn’t. please don’t torture yourself by playing haggar, he is hayato tier. the rest of those characters are fine. haggar is basically the only unusably bad character on the game
expect it to be a game that is more broken than mvc2 in terms of gameplay but less broken in terms of how many viable characters there are (everyone except haggar). if you want to play a grappler use thor he is okay. haggar will never get better either short of some serious glitches.
the game will develop towards less and less characters being viable tho so be warned just not everything has been figured out yet.
i would play haggar now if you really want to while he is still new and therefore vaguely able to gimmick people out on occasion but he isn’t playable in the longterm, he has 0 mobility on a game where mobility and screen control is king. the best thing he has is a crouching normal where he falls over like Q and then you can use the game’s tech roll system to roll forward after while invincible. still punishable at the start and you are putting yourself in an awful situation after.
the game is not remotely balanced at all.
the other characters you listed range from godlike to decent.
I’m kinda worried about the freeform 70-80% combos I keep seeing from only day -1 gameplay, to me the execution barrier seems far too low making the game more random than it should be. At first I had my doubts but Sentinel seems completely broken, I don’t see a reason why you would ever not pick him if you want to win.
MvC3 is fun as hell but doesn’t seem like a long-lasting tournament fighter at this point. I’m positive we’ll see some completely broken shit at Final Round that will make people question the longevity of this game.
I feel like Sentinel is gonna be a very good character, but eventually people are gonna figure out anti-Sent strats. The high damage doesn’t bug me because if a larger number of characters in the game are viable, if one of you teammates gets killed you should at least have one other character who has a fighting chance. This is just from me watching streams so far, so I’ll just have to see how everything pans out from tomorrow on out.

Pro tip:
If you have both systems, buy the 360 version of MvC3.
PS3 version’s been pretty damn choppy (framerate wise) when there are two Sentinels or a team super (sometimes) on the screen.
Got the game, played a shitton of it. Definitely switching away from Haggar now, I don’t think I can begin to try him. New team is Chun-Li, Akuma, X-23, but if they release a less shit costume for Jill I’ll maybe put in her instead of Akuma, since she’s looking great too.
I heard the 360 port also has this issue as well. I got it on PS3 because I wasn’t sure if my Xbox would be fixed by today, and guess what, it’s not.
