I’m all for playing a tournament in HSV once the thing is organized. Thing is, Alabama’s fighting scene doesn’t have too much going on outside of Bham, Mobile and Montgomery. And no offense but if there’s something going on in Nashville and I can go to a ranbat at Game Galaxy, I’m going there because the competition level is a bit higher.

I would play online and stuff, but I only have a PS3, and I’m not sure if I should just play the game on weekends at Zero, or pick it up for the ps3 and hold my breath for people on PSN lol.
But yea, I’m sure by summer, I should have most of the basics of a fighter down, and will be passed that whole scrub level I’m on.

i don’t quite understand. i’m saying that this is happening, that i’m volunteering to do this, and i got this. it’s gonna be at a hotel, the primary focus might not be the game itself but there will be players there. i’m also trying to get together some local heads and holding a fighting game 101 style panel that attempts to teach people how to practice and get better at the games.
i’m not worried with people who don’t want to get better, thats their thing. we might not have a lot of people, but we do have people that are playing each other often and getting better. that’s the best we can hope for at this point.
ok, glad to clear that up. i’m getting everyone i know to join up on that fb page, it will be nice to have multiple places to keep up with AL events, gatherings, etc etc, as well as have multiple places to meet fighters in person.

Zero_Gamer: If you and Kola_ are trying to play Melty, I’ll help you. I get out of school at 1pm on Friday and I’m off on Saturday (give or take I don’t have plans that day). If you can have something around the 1/2pm range on Friday, cool. Otherwise, I’d have to hang around school for such time.

Look up atleast 2 characters that you would like to play and watch videos of said character. If you’re stumped on vids, go look up MeltyBread’s channel on youtube. Lots of JP vids exist there; much variety.

I dunno WLen and and Akiha seems fun, and Miyako looks like she’d be enjoyable. xD Tier list doesn’t agree though.
Yo, don’t trust the tier list. Anyone and everyone in this game is viable for greatness. Both Akiha and W.Len are high/mid territory and they are also 2 of the characters that are spread evenly amongst the grooves (moons), especially Akiha. Any groove with her is a beast.
Edit: I got an interview at 2pm on Friday. Friday’s out the window unless I make another drive down that way. Seems unlikely though. If Wes is open for games and Warren’s off, I’ll go there with him on Friday. In other case, I’ll see if I can make it to Zero’s on Saturday.
A few random things:
Good shit on the facebook group and the flyer. I joined the former and uploaded the latter so it has a more permanent location than freeimagehosting.com. Also, I still have some connections with people at Gamestop, so maybe I can persuade them to let me set a stack of the flyers on the counter at a couple of stores. I have one request for skitz, though: do you mind if I clean up the grammar/spelling a little bit?
With all this talk of strengthening the local community, I’d like to let newcomers know as well as remind everyone else that I’m almost always down for games at my place. The only real exception is when I have to work a super early shift the next day. I have three lag free TVs side-by-side along with a 360 and a PS2, however if you prefer PS3, you are welcome to bring it. I live in Hueytown/Bessemer, which is fairly close (~20 min) to Birmingham. I play BBCT and will be picking up Super and BBCS when they’re released, but I usually have people over that play other games like Melty.
