Well…seeing as how I’m not really a Marvel player, my word ain’t as good, but I’ll back Venkat with his claim. I played a lot of casuals after the tournaments were done, and both sides kept messing up shit, made for crazy matches…but we shouldn’t have been missing certain things. Also, when watching Cable guy, Neezy, etc. (the real Marvel players), I noticed that they were missing a lot of the same things. I’ve heard complaints about the sticks too, but I think it’s the buttons that are the real problem.

Yeah the MvC2 machine needs work, just doesn’t respond well at all. Anyone else think there is too much glare on the CvS2 machine? I can barely see my health bar.
it would be easier to fix if people didnt bitch all the time, then we go into the game test mode and it works perfectly.
the manager personally went into the game test mode and checked every single button and every time he pressed a button, the little ZERO turned into a ONE.
true the tekken machine should have been working. and mvc2 had been working pretty decently up until that day, but the amount of bitching that went on, its like golfland owes you guys anything.
No more tourneys on MVC2. No Tournament for T5 for a short while. Unless someone else wants to run it, be my guest.
Next tournament will be only on CVS2 and 3S.
Have someone who knows how to play the game test it. Have em’ pull off some complicated combos… He’s probably testing it like it’s pac-man.
The people playing it are putting the money in it right? They should have a machine that is working properly. They probably deserve that much…
The glare on the CVS2 machine is retarded. The pedestal part of the machine with the controls is okay but the monitor housing is ugly as hell. The marquee for the machine looks like it was printed out at kinkos…

and with mvc2 the manager said that every time someone bitched he went to fix it and there was nothing to fix. the buttons responded every time. but the machine lies.
and i didnt know that people bitched about a marquee. thats a first for me.
i think the problem with mvc2 isn’t whether the buttons work or not, it’s whether or not they register at the same time or not because of, i dunno, maybe the switches again? i have no idea, i’m not the one taking care of it anymore since i’ve been busy. But yeah, it’s not a one button game, it’s a lot of simultaneous button pressing, so that’s a reconsideration it.
I was referring to mvc2, that’s the one I hear people bitching about. Yeah, that marquee is ugly. Take a look at it next time. :wow:
reguarding cvs2. i agree that on the player 2 side you can not see the player 1 life bar because of a glare from the lights. makes it impossible to tell if your oppenent is 1 block away from a KO, or if they still have a nice chunk of health left.
many players have already gotten over the marquee. its not that big a problem. im not an expert player but ive played it enough not to notice it anymore.
anthony, the switches were brand new. the joysticks are different. they can lead to some problems. but its hard to convince an employee of golfland that it doesnt work when the test mode says it works.
i just hate how all you guys think that golfland or i owe you something. bronson demanding that i fix a game when im not working was out of line. i dont work for him. i was doing bhushan a favor by even being there. maybe if you guys had a little respect we would care more about the pitiful amount of money the games rake in (and no the games dont make half as much as you think)
Troy, I really don’t think that ppl are trying to disrespect you or the Golfland. It’s just that in many cases when the buttons stop working during a tournament, ppl get irritated. Not at you, not at Golfland, but at the machines and the fact that they paid money to enter the tournament. Lot of people don’t know you and don’t know how much you do for that Golfland. And in my opinion, you do a tremendous amount of work with dedication. No matter which Golfland/any other arcade you go to, there will always be someone bitching about something. But in my opinion, you are the reason the tournaments go according to plan. I don’t even know if the other employees know how to fix/set up the machines at SJGL. So don’t take anything personally about what anyone says, because it’s not directed towards you or SJGL.

I’m telling you Troy, you’ve contributed so much to these guys. If anything, you should be thanked for more than anything else. So here’s a sort of late Thanksgiving thanks. Thanks for fixing the CvS2 and MvC2 machinees, for helping to get the changes at SJGL so that it has become what it is today for the competitive scene, for helping get 3S after oh so many months of promising, and for all the effort put out to help run these tournaments. Don’t stress out dude, it’s just these things happen. As for what I said about the buttons, it’s just a reconsideration of what’s up, i’m not necessarily saying it is what it is. Keep up the awesome work Troy, NCR is coming up, and we gotta enjoy that shiet :tup:
BTW, quit giving Troy a hard time, he’s done as much as he can AND continues to help and improve the scene at SJGL. At least if you’re gonna bitch (not referring to anybody in particular), please do it in a polite manner, something on the line of constructive criticism please. I’m sure he’d appreciate that a lot more. And maybe a thanks here and there.

thanks everyone. i was just a little frustrated. i just wanted to do cvs2, i had no idea that a marvel and tekken breakdown would happen. everyone knows that i hate having them not work and i fix them whenever i can. i just dont like being ordered to do it.
im going to replace every switch on marvel. ill test it out myself. i know that the kicks on 2nd side work but sometimes dont go together. as for tekken, i dont get it. it worked and it even worked when i slapped it as hard as i could. the other switches are held on by tape that i myself put on there… ill look into it.
about the lights, theres nothing we can do. the owners like golfland to be as lit as possible. so unless anyone has any ideas about string lights around the perimeter we are stuck with the glare. as for the marquee… i think we can live with it.

Bronson is really nice when he wants to be.
worked on all the games today. the play was as follows: tested 3rd strike. all games responsive was able to pull of minor combos like ken mp, fp,qcf+p SAIII and akuma c.mk,qcb,dp. everything seemed AOK
played cvs2. all buttons responsive. roll cancelled. did minor combos.
marvel. all the buttons worked. i dont know what was claimed to be wrong. did cables c.lk,c.lk, s.hk ahvb. storms lk,lk,rk ls combo. sentinel fly, and unfly. worked every time. also did c.rh, into rp, drone super. everything worked fine. the assists were a tad off but other than that seemed to be okay.
worked on tekken. tested the actual switch. seems to be fine. it just gets knocked loose with much hitting. strange i slapped it as hard as i could and it stayed in. anyways, even more strange that the non response is not only in the lp. its in the other buttons on the left side as well. overall for the average gamer it shouldnt be noticeable. and apparently to top players other than the lp it wasnt noticed O_O
so all of them are working right now. i tell you this to silence the people (pretty much everyone except for anthony and bhushan) who think i work for them and think i owe them anything.
did that automatic taunt ever get fixed in the marvel machine?
