Looking forward to see Zan SZS, Spice and Wolf 2 and CANAAN as well. Definitely giving Tokyo Magnitude (because of the topic is rare in anime) and Bakemonogatari a chance. Saw Umineko and liked it and gonna be checkin’ out Needless tonight to see how that fares, but I’m mostly looking out for impressions on potentially good shows.
Everything looks like trash until Kaiji 2.
Umineko looks like a winner this season. I eagerly await each episode every week… although I hope not just gg is subbing the show. :lol:

Dark Horse is going to release Hiroaki Samura’s art book (The Love of the Brute) in 2010! Holy Shit! I see FMA2 is up to ep 13 now… hopefully I’ll be able to start watching it again before year’s end.
I’ve seen the first 2 episodes to Sea Story and posted my impressions a few pages back. In any case it’s a peculiar show but it basically boils down to being a 2 magical girls who will be forced to fight evil. That’s a really generic break down of the show since there’s a bit more to it then that. The production values are there as the animation is absolutely gorgeous. The show has a bit of action in it and it’s animated beautifully. So far I’m enjoying the show but the next 2-3 episodes will really make or break it.
Canaan 01:
Err…Wow…Just wow…
The production values for Canaan is huge. The animation was incredible and the attention to detail in the backgrounds was superb. Story wise not much was revealed it was basically an episode to establish characters, set the premise up, and show some action. In has a very Black Lagoon feel with a mix of Darker than Black in there as well. It’s make for a wonderful combination and I’m calling this the best action show of the season.
Canaan 01

Okay, the attention to detail with the festival was insane. The sheer amount of things going on in the background and number of people being displayed without resorting to CG tactics was impressive. It makes me wish that a game would allow me to do gun fights of that degree.
Element Hunters 01:
This show made me lol so hard. It’s like an educational version of Digimon with some Pokemon throw in there. Basically, these groups of kids hunt down and capture monsters in an alternate world or something. These monsters are actually elements from the periodic table. It even comes complete with an ending theme that lists the elements from the periodic table. 
Monster designs are great but yea…Don’t really expect too much from this show if anything at all.
Watching Valk makes me want to finish the game more as it looks like some interesting things happen in the later half of the game. This current arc seems like it would be a blast to play in the game provided the scenario is laid out pretty similar. The anime tends to have a habit of skipping over how hard some of these battles are in the game (provided you don’t abuse the game system to S-Rank missions).
The weird thing is… I seriously think I would learn the periodic table, or at least the name of all the elements(/monsters), from watching a season of that. I’m gonna check it out lol

I’m surprised at how much they left out of the 1st ep of Umineko and what they DID cover. If it really is just 13 eps, I guess they’ll speed through most of the VN, which kind of worries me that it’ll just be like all the seasons of Higurashi no Naku Koro ni (i.e. horrific and lol). Hoping it’s good though. Canaan looks like it’ll be the show to watch, like everyone said at the beginning of the season, long as they develop the characters well.
Fight Ippatsu! Juuden-chan!! is pretty funny as well from this season, just wish they’d stop with the wetting themselves fanservice, really detracts.
Man can’t wait to check out Canaan, asn’t really interested in it before since I’d only heard the name, but apparently Nasu was one of the people working on it so it’s probably going to be good.
Well he just written the plot for that part of the 428 game, while Takeuchi did the designs. They aren’t a part of the anime staff, but it looks the anime staff seem to be a relatively known bunch; the director being the same as from the Sword of the Stranger movie.
can someone recommend some good recent animes that are not so geared for kids?
Needless looks like it might be a guilty pleasure, not what I was expecting. I guess I’ll have to wait for CANAAN for something a bit more serious.

Eve no Jikan 05 came out on July 1st. I really like this series, it’s too bad there’s only one left and that the series has taken so long between episodes. The characters have a certain depth to them that I’m really enjoying, and the subject matter is intriguing.

Well, Blade seems like a cool character and the show has that whole vibe reminding me of those “attitude” shows like TTGL or Basquash. On the other hand, the main kid seems to be horribly useless and whiny so far and the jokes are hardly anything to laugh at or either mistimed. I’ll probably give it a couple of more episodes and see if it’ll go better from there.
Also, wtf @ the ED. I’m not sure what to make out of the whole thing because it’s so out of place.
