The ministry of Truth has declared that Chavez was an atheist socialist open border advocate.
Spoiler
Even if he was a Catholic workers right advocate who once said, “We can win this strike overnight if we can get the *** backs out of California”, called La raza the Mexican KKK and had pamphlets printed encouraging people to befriend illegals find out their status so they could turn them. It’s a very safe assumption Chavez would vote Trump, he was the epitome of “dey took our jobs”. How else could unionize farm workers when competing with illegals, it makes no sense.
I wonder when the media is gonna shit on Musk for what he does. Musk doens’t pay space x interns in California. But it must be OK because he’s doing it for the future
Green energy advocates who do so without a mention of clean nuclear are childish idealists IMO. All the wind energy in Texas would struggle to power Rhode Island.
Yeah a lot of the renewable energy sources are bullshit. The only one that has potential imo is Solar, but it still isn’t ready (although I definitely think we should be willing to spend a lot of money researching it). On a sunny day you’ll have 1kJ of solar energy reaching each square meter of the Earth every second. The average solar energy that falls on 0.1% of US land is equal to all the energy the nation currently uses. We just need to figure a way to harness and store it somehow
There’s no idealism involved. People are scared of nuclear energy because they associate the word “nuclear” more closely to “bomb” or “Chernobyl” than they do to “clean energy”. And that’s complete horseshit.
Anything close to Chernobyl won’t ever happen again. That thing was a perfect storm of bad decisions and outdated technology. Fukushima was the absolute worst case scenario for a nuclear rector accident nowadays, and zero people died from that incident. And even disregarding accidents like that, fewer deaths are related to nuclear energy (per energy produced) than any other largely used energy source.
The only true issue with nuclear energy is the nuclear waste, which, depending on the isotope, can range from really bad (plutonium) and completely unproblematic (thorium). And even the really ugly waste can be dealt with.
Signed,
Childish idealist who has spent too many nights drinking beer with nuclear physicists (who know what they’re talking about on the subject)
PS: how the fuck did you Americans manage to get yourself into this mess of an election, where your only real alternatives are either a provably corrupt product of a really fucked up political establishment, or a demagogue who ran for the position because he gets off from hearing his name mentioned in public? Either way, you guys are screwed.
The thing that many people don’t or refuse to understand about the nuclear accidents to date is, the vast vast majority of them have been the result of human error, not an inherent flaw in nuclear technology. Maybe Fukushima is the exception to that, but even there it wasn’t a flaw in the nuclear technology really
Kimda wrong with fukishima, storing waste in a pool in the second floor isnt good deaign. But then storing it on the bottom floor where a tsunami could flood, shits hard man
