Displacing Trump would end poorly in the long-term for the establishment. Trump’s election, and this entire election/primary cycle, has made everyone aware of how widespread discontent with the status quo is, and now said people feel their numbers are approaching if not already a majority. Even if Hillary won the popular vote (I legit don’t think she did, as the oft-cited figures seem to be from when the election was called, which includes all of Hillary’s victories but not all of Trump’s), many of her own people were reluctant and just thought Trump was a bad direction, but still agreed that change must happen.
If Trump gets iced, we aren’t just looking at a few riots. Hell, even a few states trying to secede might be too conservative. Full-on revolution/civil war might seriously result if the establishment openly disregards their own rules for self-preservation. They know this, so that’s why they’ve started with the disinformation campaign. Once people think that things are worse (even if they aren’t), they will willingly accept the establishment again, satisfying the second clause of an “uninformed and compliant” populace.
That’s why, if you want to rail back against this, you shouldn’t hesitate to correct/call out the media’s bullshit. Plenty of people aren’t pro-establishment but don’t realize they’re being manipulated, and wind up sounding like tools because they were given opinions as facts by an authority they never thought to question.
From what I’ve read, all this started because this Posobiec guy mistakenly thought they were reshooting portions of the movie to include anti-Trump sentiments because the director made his Twitter avatar an Empire logo with a safety pin thru it. Nevermind the fact that the reshoots happened before Trump even got elected. So it’s all a bunch of bullshit cooked up by uninformed people. That pic is actually a photoshop troll job.
When Trump gets in there and appoints a fresh DOJ, shits gunna get real.
That’s why I’m actually scared AF that something will happen between now and then. He needs to be careful.
Man, I can’t agree with this. Tucker was a tool when he had the bowtie, he’s a tool now. Just 'cause he has easy pickin’s this time around doesn’t make him any less than the tool he was before.
Yeah blame the “libtards” for passing a bill even though the house is republican controlled and 234 republicans voted for it but about 150 dems voted for it. It’s not a liberal or conservative thing when pretty much everyone voted for this to pass in its entirety. 4 years from people will still be blaming Obama for 9/11 and the poor response to Katrina.
No other country in the entire world matters, or will ever matter ― except for America. Not Canada, not Russia, not China ― none of them.
"…Neither have I so much of the infidel in me, as to suppose that He has relinquished the government of the world, and given us up to the care of devils."
― Thomas Paine, The American Crisis #1
The lemmings thing just bothers me because it’s wrong. But sure, we’re in a post-factual era so I understand that accuracy doesn’t matter. Hey! You learned something!
America is awesome and perhaps first among equals, but times have dramatically changed since Paine’s days.
"BUT YOU ARE A WOMAN!"
LOL he seriously just said that unsarcastically. He doesn’t see things beyond identity politics. No wonder he thinks it’s a white lash.
Yeah, I know things have drastically changed since the days of Thomas Paine and the Revolutionary Era. **That’s the problem ― the fact that America has changed. The America of today is not what America SHOULD BE. America isn’t supposed to be like this.
Without Thomas Paine ― there would be no America. None of you would be alive today. This website wouldn’t exist, America itself wouldn’t exist. The greatest country in the history of the world would not exist, were it not for Thomas Paine. **Not to mention a little divine help from God.
"In a last effort to save his army, Washington orders an immediate retreat, to start at nightfall. Under the cover of darkness, the army begins to move, stealthily, using every ferry and fishing boat available to them. All through the night, soldiers are ferried across a narrow slip between Brooklyn and Manhattan. They soon run out of time but they get one final Providence. As morning breaks, a strange and eerie fog sets in over New York Harbor, engulfing the area in a near blackout. It is their salvation. The British see and hear nothing."
You are right @Preppy, America has changed, but not for the better. If Thomas Paine were alive today, he would be saddened at what his beloved America has become.
[FONT=times new roman]***“In spite of Thomas Jefferson’s hope that America had returned generally to sentiments worthy of former times, it was not so. The national emphasis in America had moved rapidly from ‘Idealism’ to ‘Materialism’. And of course, our Tom had not shifted ONE INCH from his concept of ‘The Rights of Man’ and of Woman. He landed in America, and with him he was carrying America’s painful conscience.”
I’m done with this thread so I’ll end it with this.
**AMERICA! Donald Trump is your last hope. Donald Trump will make or break America. If he chooses the wrong side, you’re fucked forever!
The context is that Hillary’s election would result in further push of Obama’s legacy and a continuation of anti-population movements such as SOPA, NAFTA, TPP, and the further destruction of privacy and net neutrality, as well as rising the tensions between US and RU even further over the Syrian crisis
Trump was supposed to save America from that shit, but given his recent news and the choices for the office - I’m questoning if America is indeed going to become “great again”
Given how Trump is appointing people (Sessions, etc.) that are notorious political insiders and how he is now kowtowing to the establishment, all I can say is:
Trump supporters, y’all niggas got worked, I mean McMahon-style worked (IT’S ME, AUSTIN!). He got over on the exact same rhetoric Obama used.
Also, people are actually taking Pizzagate seriously?
I mean, for real. If I were a CEO/majority shareholder or whatnot of a junk food chain or fast food chain, I would be praying to every god in existence that marijuana legalization goes through. People get the munchies and you can’t tell me that fast food chains and junk food chains wouldn’t cash in on that. That’s liscense to print money, right there. Let’s not even get into how legalized weed would help deter drug dealers in the inner cities because with weed being legal, there goes the illegal market, putting dealers out of business unless they go legit. Also, in places where marijuana is legal, crime would drop tremendously and so would the pointless arrests for cannibus; just look at Colorado since 2014.
