Whos going to maintain those machines when automation is up an running?
Thinking automation is the end of civilization is quite the stretch, sure there will be a lack of those who can buy things in that scenario but its not much different then what has already happened. IE: Factory jobs moving over seas
You also seem to be overlooking the human aspect of things that people can do more then one given task or set of given tasks to do a job. Like cleaning the work environment or dealing with customers. Also given your examples lets look at this, why are there still stores around? Why doesnt everyone just do online shopping?
Its a pain in the ass when it doesnt work and some people avoid the hassle.

Now lowering/ no minimum wage would do alot to stop automation not completely but I would think that businesses, that still hire people would have its place in automation and even in some cases out preform given the proper training.
Though that last bit is wishful thinking on my end given the…state at which young people (16-18) are now.

As for pizzagate. http://www.metroweekly.com/2015/04/from-scratch-james-alefantis

Thats pretty funny. Is there a basement or not?

@FreezingCicada Automation could certainly lead to the end of civilization as we know it. The question is how will we adapt. Will we shift to a Star Trek economy or Terminator hellscape. Probably something inbetween. More like Futurama or Idiocracy I bet.

The thing with automation re: the economy is- what happens when the owners of the automated factories can’t pay their electric bills because none of their potential customers have jobs to buy stuff with? It isn’t like there aren’t negative feedback loops intrinsic to the system.

Which isn’t to say we shouldn’t pay close attention to it.

The other big disruptive technology is coming along more slowly but could potentially have just as big an impact- 3D printing and automated DIY manufacturing. Sure, that won’t disrupt a lot of the more technical industries, but think of all the simple tangible goods you won’t need to purchase anymore.

During the beginning people are going to be overlooking the machines, but as stated before, the jobs they replace are going to need less people as time moves on. We’re seeing this with Fox Conn and car manufacturing. A.I. algorithms are already being put in place for self teaching

More and more people **are **shopping online. How did you think Amazon got so big and is still growing? Online grocery shopping is a thing.

People can do more than one task, but so can robots. They robot waiters at the Honda corporation in Japan can take three different orders from three people at the same exact time and know which person asks for it. Can’t find the video on it right now. But that’s been a thing for about 10 years if not longer. Human contact and interaction will probably be a luxury item in the future with a robot take over, in the same vein the host and hostess bars have been for the last 15 years in Asia.

Yup draining the swamp indeed.

“I am not going to get bought out by lobbyists… Just gonna make them my cabinet.”

Your country got conned so hard lol

Gotta love that cabinet option select.

Trump can do no wrong clearly, his supporters will never criticize him.

Star Trek economy baby.

Drain the swamp by overflowing it?

Totally works like that, right?

I’m still excited for him to shut down Obamacare and build the wall!

Gonna remain wary of Pruitt, but if you want to clean house in a department, why WOULDN’T you hire one of its biggest critics?

The Senate gets the final vote, anyway - Trump can’t just put him in the seat.

Last I checked, the data supporting man-made climate change was manipulated and rigged - I’m not entirely against hiring a skeptic in that case.

Why would anyone want to rig the data. Not saying it doesn’t happen what’s the benefit of doing so?

Well on the bright-side, cutting back the EPA should increase job security in the medical fields by increasing the cancer rates. #jobs

I’ll preface this by saying I’m not a climate change denier

As for your question, quite simply it has to do with money and investments. Green energy can’t survive the free market, it dies every time. If you have cheap shares and lobby for government subsidies you can make a fortune on your cheap green energy by convincing the public to fund these useless companies. I believe this is how Al Gore managed to get a fortune too when his green energy stocks soared.

…To make your arguments seem absolute in the face of skepticism?

Yea but what is the benefit of doing that?

LOBBY MONEY

just because people hide behind moral crusades doesn’t mean they don’t have ulterior and nefarious motives. Look at gore, that dude is almost billionaire status from the legislation he pushed for.

Hey I was just asking, of course people use altruistic facades to get what they want, but that doesn’t mean the end goal is obvious. Stop acting like people asking questions about where you’re going with your lines of thought is some ridiculous notion. This is why a lot of people don’t follow this stuff anymore, they ask questions and the people with the answer act like ass holes for having the answers.

You guys complain that people aren’t educated on this stuff, then when people ask questions you’re condescending and dick-holish about it, then wonder why people don’t ask questions and get educated.

Stop it.

???

i’m just saying, I guess I should have clarified that the other half of my post was meant for typhlosion

Lobby Money in big cap letters like it’s super obvious. It may be to you, but I don’t really follow this shit, so it’s not to me, hence why I asked.
