Generally speaking, yes - you work, or you go homeless.

@Preppy The government getting the money instead of estate holders is a round trip back into society???

I don’t know about that B. These SRKKK arguments are laughs too. But the other side ain’t looking too much better.

Communism can work but the problem is humans are too fallible. There is just no way to have a fair centralised power because of personal interests. So I guess in a way it can’t work.

The problem is the way technology is going, capitalism is going to stop working. The amount of jobs and people qualified to work is going to decrease. Automation is real and information technology is pushing it further than ever. Without some kind of universal basic income society will collapse. Listen to Elon Musk or Hawking.

didn’t the GOP double the threshold to 11 mil and 22 mil for married couples? iirc, the only reason the gop didn’t completely eliminate the tax was because they were worried about the public perception of heaping even more tax breaks on their donor class. oops…i mean, the farmers and truckers since the bill was supposed to be a “middle class” tax cut.

i don’t know what’s more hilarious. trump sticking the ICBM in his mouth and hitting the detonation button or watching cult 45 make allowances for his obvious idiocy and get triggered when non-cult members people hold him accountable for it. anyway, the wp just updated it’s list of false and misleading claims by trump. apparently, he’s closing in on 2000 in 347 days. lol…so incompetent. he’s even bad at lying.

Not for the rich.

And not even for the poor.

The poor go homeless because the rich have completely fucked the system, and utterly cannibalized basic human rights.

Are you too privileged, or simply too dumb to see this? Both?

I think they call that social market economy, not socialism.

Steinbeck.

The man was a sage.

Anyone who genuinely wants to get educated, and raise their actual awareness or @Wasted or @dodgers2213 would be utterly remiss not to read this:

Who is Roy Moore? for $400 Bison dollars, Alex!

What part of “generally speaking” did you not understand?

Take your “privilege” bullshit and give yourself a nice big enema with it.

Saw this on Facebook page:

Sounds like his narrative holds weight but I don’t know!

Nah, son.

The only one full of shit in here, is your ignorant Aussie arse.

And everyone with a functional brain in here, knows it.

@FrostyAU

Are most Aussies like you?

Or are they incredibly ignorant, dumb motherfuckers like @Wasted?

Inquiring minds would like to know.

We know Wasted is a genius because he’s still alive despite living in that nightmarish hellhole. Unfortunately they also can’t sustain schools, soooo that explains the rest of the problem.

Sure: the government provides most of the fundamental services that allow us to have a functional society. Thus Jimmy gets to grow up in an opportunity-rich society that allows her and thus the economy to succeed as much as people.

Or we can pretend that nobody has to pay anything, gleefully let the winning families hoard wealth, and have them use that to extract yet more money from the economy. (I make more money via investment income than at my excellent job, and I probably don’t work as hard as anybody actually struggling to get by.)

Random linklets:

In theory the government is supporting our interests and the things that are valuable to us as a country. If not, change that. The current government plan is to keep funding all those things while not paying for it. That’s not viable.

Sure: then we get into the argument of what parts of the government we want to cut. Military seems the obvious choice, but everybody loves guns.

I do have the fundamental bias that a functional government should help to provide a baseline of opportunity and pathway to success for all. That’s my disconnect from others, perhaps. But – consider where a dollar I have goes vs a dollar the government has goes. There’s a reason we have taxes.

All of you right now:

No retort, no counter points, just the typical low-grade assault on my nationality.

Seems par for the course.

You’re American. You have no high ground when it comes to education systems.

50/50.

Our political system is Labor, who are a bit further to the left than Democrats, and the Coalition. The Coalition is the Nationals who are basically Republicans and Liberals, some of whom are centrist others are basically Republicans. Then you have the Greens and usually far-right independents.

Overall Australia leans further left than the U.S but it’s not as far left as Scandinavia or a lot of Europe. It’s like America-lite.

Good page to restart this thread on.

See you guys in the new one.
