The 2nd KOFXII Thread (debuting at AM Show in September)

THIS!

I love playing SF4 like everyone else, and I play it a lot when I’m available. I also see that KOF haters are still not impress with the new KOF mostly because they are Capcom fan boys.

I’m a huge fan of Capcom and SNK!

But no one here should ever say that SF4 looks better than KOFXII!!!

let’s just stop while we’re ahead and settle on

Third Strike looks great
SF4 looks great
KOF XII looks great

rofl

I knew you would. Us Midwest boys gotta stick together for all the hot thick chicks out there.
And in celebration of that fact, I got another drop.

SF4 looks better than KOFXII. The only thing KOFXII is doing different is using sprites, all other graphical aspects are in SF4. That’s not to say KOFXII looks bad or anything, because it doesn’t.

Her look is based off of her original one from Psycho Soldier(Like how most everyone is getting a throwback to their original look)

and I thought loli was kiddy porn

sf4 is 3d kof xi is 2d how does it look better? this is how sf4 shoulda looked like srry to say

ok, Ok, OK! Everyone SHUT THE FUCK UP NOW!

SF4 = 3D version of Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo with 4 different new challengers (speaking completely roster-wise)

KoF XII = Heavy ass upgrade of character sprite design, seemingly going back to old school (I don’t like being “Theory Fighter”, but it’s all we’ve got right now)

Sprite Reusage…the argument comes from using a base sprite to create halfassed different characters…

SF: Ryu, Ken, Akuma, Dan (in Alpha 1), Sean (in SF3 series) = Same Base Sprite. Yun and Yang = Same Base Sprite (Yang wasn’t even his own character until 2nd Impact). Gill and Urien = Same Base Sprite. (Although I was amazed that Gill’s red and blue coloring stayed where it was supposed to when he faced either direction, and his moves followed suit.) Cammy (Alpha version), Juli, Juni = Same Base Sprite. Shit, in Marvel vs. Capcom 1, Ryu had the ability to use Ken’s moveset and Akuma’s moveset at the expense of a super bar…There’s all the proof you need that they are guilty

KoF: Ralf and Clark = Same Base sprite. Chizuru and Maki = Same Base Sprite (Twins? how convenient). Yashiro, Chris, Shermie, Iori, Leona = Alter Egos via Orochi blood…while they use the same base sprite, the movesets are different enough for the new faces team to be seperate characters in and of themselves, much like Sol and Holy Order Sol. Leona and Iori, however, while having mostly different animations, their moves are pretty much the same, albeit faster…especially in Iori’s case. Kyo (Late Orochi Saga moveset), “Kusanagi”, Shingo = Same Base Sprite…In the case of Shingo, he does have his own touch to the Kusanagi style he is trying to emulate, but this is what happens when Biters have rotten teeth…(check out those Jordans in 1997 though). Other characters that recieved an outfit redesign…Same base sprite, therefore, same moves.

Guilty Gear X: Ky Kiske and “GG Mode” Ky Kiske = Same Base sprite, but different moves…the GG Mode Ky would eventually become Robo Ky, with a completely different personality and moveset. Sol Badguy and Holy Order Sol Badguy = Same basic movement and idle animations as well as outfit, completely different moveset.

Mortal Kombat = Scorpion, Sub Zero, Reptile, Ermac, Rain, Noob Saibot, Human Smoke = Same Actor. Cyrax, Sektor, Cyber Smoke = Same Actor. Kitana, Mileena, Jade = Same Actor.

Sprite Reusage 2: The argument comes from using frames already used in other moves for “super” moves…it happens. Deal with it, or play something else. If it bothers you that damn much, learn how to program, draw, create music, and make your own damn fighter and see how much we like/bash it.

Fanboyism - Latching onto something and failing to ever “let go and move on”. If you like the 1998 version of so and so that damn much, go play that until you keel over and let the rest of us who are willing to try new shit do just that. Everytime something new happens, you bitch about it…why? You may have really liked being 14 years old, but unless you have some Polaroids to sit on your bed and stare at, that shit is gone. The reality of things is, Shit needs to stay fresh or people lose interest, and the fact that you don’t like the smallest change to ANYTHING what-so-fucking-ever probably because you’re too fucking afraid to learn someone new or work without a certain move your favorite character once had makes you BORING. Please, do us all a favor and shut the fuck up. Now.

…that is all…back to the KoF XII waiting game…

agreed, sf4 sholda looked like kofxii.

as for the graphic aspect BB and KOFXII are better than sf4

Why do KoF topics always turn into arguments?

Didn’t this happen in the old thread to?

Like 30 pages of arguing

Both SFIV and KOF XII look awesome, stop being gay.

It will asshole wait and see.

Because it’s just sprites. Wow.

Anybody notice that Kyo’s df + D knocked down?

basically…Peeps are just bitchin’ for the sake of bitchin’ it seems…you wanna see arguments jump off? ANNOUNCE a new game.

Up until now, Capcom’s Street Fighter III series has been considered by many to be the epitome of 2D fighting game graphics. KOFXII is of the same caliber, but with much larger sprites.

this should shut up 3s fanboys once and for all

The art style, especially the coloring, is distinct and strong compared to previous KOF games. While the male fighters in the KOF series have traditionally looked like slim fashion models rather than martial artists, it’s a bit different in KOFXII

Ryo plays like his old self and no longer has his silly fighting pose from KOF96

what!? are you on crack?

In terms of game controls, series fans shouldn’t have any problems getting adapted to KOFXII since the developers have kept the same formula. You use four buttons for attacking: A and C are used for weak and fierce punch, with B and D for weak and fierce kick

yay, 4 buttons

thrust attack by pressing the C and D buttons together. The developer has added a few new elements to it in KOFXII. If you keep holding on to the two buttons before letting go, it adds a guard-breaking attribute to your thrust attack. You can also hold back on the joystick when pressing C and D, which lets you do a guard attack. It lets you guard for a moment before executing your thrust attack, which can be useful for breaking out of situations.

Kind of sad the way they wrote that, doesn’t sound flattering at all, lol.

How does “as well animated as 3S but high def” not sound flattering? :looney:

I think it’s kind of funny that the fighting game community has complained that the mainstream only cares about graphics, but when SNK rolls out the 2D eye candy they immediately assume it’s going to be better than everything else just because it looks better.

That being said, this game is fucking gorgeous. Low res youtube videos are fucking insults to how this game looks. It looks like they slowed down the gameplay which is good. I wasn’t a fan of artificially fast pacing of some previous KoF games.

BUT

With the pretty hand drawn graphics came higher development costs, and sacrifices to gameplay. One of KoF’s main appeals is that has a large cast of varied characters and having a smaller roster than KoF 94 is a huge disappointment. I liked the tag play from the last two KoFs. They kind of went in the wrong direction with it in XI, but there was still room to explore it and the amount of VRAM a tag team version of this game would demand isn’t realistic in this generation.

I’m optimistic, but let’s hope this doesn’t end up another SvC Chaos.

If you like one game and don’t like an other we don’t need to hear you guys whine about it. The important thing is to play your game whether it is SF4 or KOF XII and have fun with it. If no one has anything smart to add in this thread then they should just not post. As for me I like both games and can’t wait to try them both. Of course I’m more hyped for SF4 since well I grew up with SF.
