The 2nd KOFXII Thread (debuting at AM Show in September)

Yeah and Capcom can’t afford to make a sprite based fighter.

Sigh. I just think that for some reason because this game is hand drawn people will hate it on it and well its SNK.

I’m willing to give the game a chance at least because its drawn very well and I’m hoping gameplay-wise it’ll be fun. Just because this is SRK doesn’t mean the game needs unjust hate before it comes out.

Granted, the clashing system seems to be lazy way to get around priority on normals–I just hope it isn’t as dumb as it sounds. I’m not really into 3d so this game appeals to me. Here’s to hoping its good. It might be AS smooth as 3s but I think it animates really well–I prefer hand-drawn sprites so I’ll leave it at that…

@comoesa, if you’re gonna compare XII and 3S in HD, maybe try to use a non cellcam recorded video, you lose any credibility if you don’t have any very well recorded XII videos in HD.
Here are 2 trailers for KoF XII viewable in HD form-

The last 3 are the same video BTW, but different links.

is it really that hard to comprehend. both games have some of the best 2d animation in a 2d fighter. only difference is that in ts the frames with lil animation arent that frequent. only with a few winposes and such. in xii you see it everytime somebody falls. thats the problem. they really gotta improve that shit. it was the first thing that kept grabbing my attention when i first saw the vids, and it still does.

Why would anyone hate on a hand-drawn game its what we’ve been playing for 20 years.

I think the argument on whether 3s or xii is smoother is moot. They’re two different games. Just like in SF4 Capcom opted to keep animations to a more “SF” feel than go full 3d animations, SNK wants to keep the feel of KOF more than adding some more frames that could potentially make the game lose its familiarity.

i think they just remedied that by hitting fast forward on the game engine (it used to be 96 slow, and now its almost XI fast)

I don’t recall Liz being officially announced, it was just a thing that people saw that promo and were all like “Well, hey, she’s gotta be in!”.

'Course, that’s before things changed. I certainly wouldn’t mind seeing her again. I’d take her over Mai or Kula, personally.

looking at clark’s argentina back breaker in hd sprites is so satisfying…

Don’t want to sound like a KOFXII hater, cause I’m not…but, I hear what comoesa and Lolerskates is saying. SF3 is pretty broken in terms of animation quality. Not sure anything will ever quite match that, though KOFXII is REALLY smooth. (except those @$#%!! falling animations) I’d say 3S is a little better at distributing it’s animation density among all it’s moves, whereas KOFXII seems to focus more on certain moves, letting others slip by underanimated.

And, to SNK’s credit these are HD sprites, created with an insane 2D > 3D > 2D technique…so each frame probably took much longer to create than the SF3 frames.

But, then again, SF3 came out 12 years ago, and the technology to use this technique would probably have been limited even if they wanted to…

Bottom line, both games look sweet in their own ways and have accordingly revolutionized the 2D genres in their own ways.

More news:
Well, since a lot of the members here are talking about graphics, sprites, and all that crap, today, Ignition Entertainment Boards and cyberfanatix.com has posted comparison’s of the consoles (XBOX360 and PS3) to the arcade’s sprite differences. Meaning, the filter sprite differences:

Also, a new location test starts March 20th-22nd on the arcade version. Enjoy!:

When the page for XII on SNK’s site was just a logo and text there was a small picture of Ash on one side and Betty on the other. It didn’t confirm either character was in the game, but both were on the page.

Same here, I really liked her in XI and I like her fighting style way more than Mai’s style, I never got into Mai, her specials never looked good or were good to me. I could think of other Ninja chicks that have better moves than her.

The only time I liked Mai was in KOF99 when she finally got an extended combo with her Fan Swipe, other than that she is just plain boring to play as.

It would be sweet if she was in it, but I rather have her XI look better since it shows her bewbs :bgrin:

^^

Man this game looks better and better as time goes on. :looney: They fixed the heavy shading they had before! It was starting to get to me how insanely dark everything looked. (Unless it was the television) Nice find!

This is KOF. A game in which players want Mai in XII so they can fap to her and want Yuri cuz they’re pedos.

Welcome to reality.

 Yeah I know, It’s just that he was so nonchalant about it.

Yuri sucks, bitch needs to die

I just seen that KOF 12 is coming out for 360…is KOF similar to SF. Sorry I am new to the fighting games…use to just playing FPS.

ugh. looks like they rounded out the shaders. It looked better when it was crisp–oh well it still looks good I’m still planning on getting it.

No its very different. Less footsie, more rushdown n using jump attacks as ‘pokes’. Just watch some utub matches of good players you can get a feel.

It’s confirmed that the smoothing filter is optional, you can have it crisp like the arcade if you want.
