dude has shot 27 layups this season, and you just saw almost all of them in that video.
“almost all?” yeah. because he has made only 6 layups this whole season, shooting layups at an elite “22.2%”. he has made all 4 of his dunks, but missed 1 tip, giving him a blistering 30.3% at the rim this season as a 6’6 point guard.
his shooting splits for the year are .268/.273/.800 where his 40 points at the line almost make up for the fact that he only has 58 more points from the floor. his eFG is 2nd worse of players who play 10+ minutes a game
and bottom 10 in TS%.
the fact that this guy is in the nba still should be shocking.
One of the Pelicans problems is Omer Asik stealing $10 mill while racking up DNPs. If they could flip that deal into an impact wing player, they would be legit dangerous.
I still don’t know what to think of Dennis Smith Jr. as the Mavs future. His first step, open court moves and strength are great. That Jumper will get better, specially once he shoots more balanced shots. That he can pass with both hands on the move is nice, but how he sees the floor and passes … always needs a drive, dribbles to much and just doesn’t have good instinct. Maybe its the Coach, but he also needs to be more vocal to help the defense. It doesn’t help, that with his athletic ability people constantly get by him and the Mavs don’t have much of a defensive force in the back to help.
Donovan Mitchell is probably the ROTY right now. Simmons scoring has dipped from 19 ppg weeks ago to 16 ppg right now. Still doesn’t attempt 3s and his free throws are worse than Drummond’s. Kuzma is gaining massive momentum too.
Kuzma has got really nice footwork. He is not as good as Simmons. I do not think, even with adjusting defenses, that Kuzma is even close to how Ben Simmons impacts a game.
I hope next year Luka Doncic gets a chance to go to a nice team, if he gets drafted and actually decides to come over. I know I should not be to hyped, because of athletic ability and and all the stuff that comes with being an NBA player. But my god, I dunno when I have last seen an 18 year old playing so smart and being that crafty. Well, it also helps that he actually plays against real men for over a year now and not just college kids under weird NCAA rules.
