Yep. Last year he was a bit slowed due to injury but otherwise was Alex Smith’s best and pretty much only WR. He isn’t happy about the move.
Chances are this is both about money, and to basically state their intention that Smith is done after this year…if not even sooner than that.
It was a money move. He would’ve been owed 10 mil if he stayed with the team this year.
Watch Chicago scoop him up
Who else do they have though?

No one and that’s the point. They’re basically punting this year so that way they have reason to put Mahomes in.
Clear the cap, develop the rookie, and have Smith prepare for the FA market next year.

Maclin was becoming a #3 guy in the Chiefs offense, and still pulling #1 money. Kelce and Hill will pick up the slack, but I hope one of the other receivers steps up this year. Otherwise the Raiders win the division free.

Seems stupid with enough playmakers to make a serious run.

None of that even remotely surprises me.

ESPN is bringing back Hank Williams Jr. to sing the intro to MNF:
This is the same guy who compared President Obama to Hitler. He called Obama “the enemy.” Same guy who sells this on his website:

Since when do teams only make moves because of talent? Most of the time it’s simply to save money.
Gross, I guess ESPN is really trying to go under now.

When I saw that earlier I just shook my head.
They said this felt like the right time to bring him back, wonder why that is.
You ain’t gotta go home, but you gotta get the hell up out of here - New York Jets
Well Thank God my Saints get their MNF Game Week 1 so I don’t have to waste my time listening to this piece of trash the rest of the season.
Jets are continuing the firesale with Eric Decker on the way out. The Jets are obviously not going to let the Browns or Bears steal their thunder for tanking for number one next year.
Chiefs are trying to lose, they don’t want Alex Smith starting. Yet they will still go 10-6 and people will still go why did you waste all your draft picks to go up to get a QB again?

And the great minority of people wonder why no one wants to even try to play in Cleveland?
