The players are getting a huge guaranteed lump sum at the signing of the contract. Guaranteed contracts is something the NFLPA has to work on. The NFLPA needs to get their shit together but the NFL did give the players association what they wanted - guaranteed money at the beginning part of players contracts. IMO that works better for the NFL who have a ton of players to sign.
Fully guaranteed contracts will never be a standard thing in the NFL unless the players want to get paid way less than what theyâre getting now. NFL careers are short and injury can change a playersâ production so much that itâs not worth offering guaranteed contracts to all players. Itâs too much of a financial risk for each NFL organization.
NFL rosters have 53 players on them as well. You wonât earn as much as basketball because there are more players to pay.
