I’m talking about Ryu and ken duo…
Last night in training mode I came across something. Maybe this has been mentioned before, maybe not, but you don’t have to charge to cancel and dash after cr.HP.
Basically you just tap HP a couple times while performing the motion and it’ll work.
cr.HP xx QCB+HP, (tap HP here & continue motion), Dash
I actually hit it more this way than trying to charge with the LP and dashing.
It’s been mentioned, but not the tapping part!
That’s a very good idea actually. You can actually just dash out of the windcross without holding or double tapping anything if you dash very quickly at the startup of the move, but I like your idea of tapping it too!
Interesting tech for people that haven’t learned his dash loop (new Rav players basically), but I’m sure most peeps here have found something they’re comfortable with at this point
A few decent players play him like Air, OnlineTony and Xian
If Ryu cancels his uppercut, punish with s.LP. It’s 3 frames so you wont get hit out of it if you time it properly. Punishing it should lead to a Happy B’day. Free damage to both characters
Ken’s DP is safe, just block if he does it, if you do block and Ryu comes in he can’t do much to threaten you
And also stop neglecting Record mode. If something’s giving you trouble, try to recreating the situation using that feature. It worked wonders for me against Rufus flowchart rushdown
Xian is a good fighting game player, but his Raven is pretty bad. He’s had limited time with the gam and that shows. Also I thought this was a combo thread, not a general discussion thread.
How is raven top tier… yet nobody hardly has good vids or see any good ones online =.=
Actually thats the way I do it! But I use cr. HP xx QCB+HP (tap LP 2 or 3 times and contiue motion). It works everytime for me, allways max reps 4 reps into s.HP special, sweep or just 5 reps. But still having problems doing it facing the left side.
Anyone else like cancelling the 5th crHP into teleport for spacing/setting up shuriken teleport mixups?
Alright, so my Bnb has been (anything) xx Wind Cross, cr.LP, cr.HP xx CADC, st.HP xx L Alter Ego. Obviously this was the easy Bnb that didn’t use the one-framer. Now I’m trying to learn it though, and I’m doing ok with it but I’m having a problem. Most of us know by now that when you cross under during Cr.HP loops, it’s usually because you didn’t hold crouch after the dash. That’s not my problem.
(anything) xx Wind Cross, Cr.HP xx CADC Cr.HP xx CADC St.HP xx L Alter Ego. The St.HP randomly switches between crossing up and staying on the same side, and it messes up my input for Alter Ego. Why does this happen and what can I do to fix this? Thanks in advance.
You COULD just go for a cr.HP xx M Alter Ego… Otherwise I would try to still crouch after the last dash cancel, but go to neutral for the standing HP as late as possible.
M alter ego puts you in way worse position and you get less damage. Late as possible is the way to go.
I wouldn’t really recommend people doing cr.hp in the tapping fashion. It’s just like how people do FFF with negative edge, how it comes back to haunt them. Just learn it correct way.
I totally agree. If I tap cr.hp the negative edge makes me throw a lot of ninja stars and not get the dash cancel. I have to make a conscious effort to hold down the hp until I’m ready for another rep.
It’s still really all a timing issue. Doing it without holding the button makes it basically just a 2 in 1, then a dash, then the same 2 in 1, then a dash, etc. Not holding the button makes timing the next cr.HP easier to me, and I also do stuff like a block string cancelled to windcross cadc, to either another block string or a grab and that’s also easier for me if I dont hold the button.
To each his own but this method is actually simpler and more consistent for me, just like doing FFF the normal (not negative edge) way is simpler and more consistent for me.
My apologies if this has already been posted or if a better one has been posted. This comes in handy since no one thinks that Raven has empty jump lows (his c.lk is nearly impossible to link from and c.mk is slow for an empty jump low setup).

Dunno if this was posted or will work but your post gave me an idea. Why not use cr.LK xx cr.MK xx cr.HP into EX Windcross, because you can:
- Dash Cancel to make it safe.
- Dash Cancel if it hits to continue a cr.HP loop combo.
- It’s longer than the cr.LK xx st.cl.HP chain so it’s easier to hit confirm into whatever.
This is all of course assuming that cr.LK xx cr.MK xx cr.HP works, haven’t tried it (just typing ideas :P)
It works but cr lk st hp into EX shuriken does more damage because it scales less before the cr hp loop.
Meter and damage. It’s not really worth it if other options are at your disposal. It’s not really a bad idea, though.
