So now that I’ve realized that bandit boulder assist isn’t all that bad for viewtiful joe, I hit the lab to find some combos. This was probably the best thing I made today, and I actually think this team is pretty good. Joe is point normally, but he’s in 2nd slot here for his assist

Make it a habit to end your combo (which was dope btw) with s.H xx h drill so that in case you have meter you can go into lunch rush, and if you dont, you can mash and force a reset situation while building meter. however i do see the reset potential in the sj.S there…
I only did that to see if I could get another hard knockdown. I do know that if I have meter to go into drill. However, one fun reset is to end it with gustaff fire, then jump cancel that and try to air grab them
It was only a matter of time until someone came across the foundation of some of my combos, I’ve been waiting to get a good set up before making a combo vid but I’ve been too slow.
I am a big fan of Tron and Joe, and my team is Tron/Joe/Haggar. The principal behind our combos is similar, so I’ll post some variations I’ve been using since I started using Joe bomb assist in january.
Here is my team BnB for Tron, I have other stuff I’ll post later this week.
Corner BnB (about 1.1 million damage)
j.S, j.M. j.M, j.H, S, j.M, delay, j.M, j.H, S, (call Joe bomb assist), j.H, j.S. block bomb, S, j.H, j.S, call Haggar lariat assist, c.H, s.H, King Servebot, s.H, H Drill (mash), Lunch Rush
Your ender will be different, but I think the other aspects of this combo should work for your team.
My combos have been ready for awhile, so hopefully I’ll finally get around to making a combo video before the end of the year.
Whoa. Your team is crazy. I think haggar could actually cover a lot of trons problems, but I just have too much fun playing Doc Strange to ever not play him. What’s your reasoning behind Tron/Joe as opposed to Joe/Tron? Tron assist seems to work so much better in terms of screen control than Joe’s, bomb seems only useful in combos and for some very specific set ups. And how do you play point tron without a good beam assist? I can’t seem to ever do it
So yeah since im on winter break now, I can spend a lot of time labbing. Anything you guys want me to focus on? Specific confirms/mixups/combos/movement/etc. Reply!
what i need most is character specific combos – some characters like dormammu fall weirdly, big characters like sent dont get hit by drill in the corner after a juggled s.H, characters like strange and mags fall faster, modok has wonky hitboxes, etc. It would be really helpful to know the optimized adjustments/combo enders on these characters.
i’d also be interested to see an investigation of tron’s lesser used special moves – gustaf fire canceled into stuff, tick and kara setups for her command throw, beacon bomb and servbot launcher, etc. i’ve been using these moves more and more and it gives her neutral game some variety. another move i think is underused is her c.M as a poke, it can chip, confirm into drill, hits low, has long range, and on block can be used to tick into command throw
also looking for tron/frank/shehulk synergy if you got anything up your sleeve
and last thing would be movement options that aren’t just boxjumping all the time, that shiet gets you grabbed or anti-aired. thanks~
Before I actually start labbing, ill tell you everything I know based on what you asked.
I know what youre talking about, you should end the drill into Lunch Rush when you see their character rise up from getting hit by drill. Ill try to look for more specfic cases.
Gustaff Fire: I have this anti-air combo from the the Combo Thread, ill look into more stuff.

-236H should be used for anti air (from a distance), combos, and incoming Okizeme (I could explain this part in detail if you want me to)
-236M is for long range zoning

Servbot Launcher: Aside from anti air, and mid-range zoning…
-623M Can be used as wakeup okizeme for when you cant end the combo after a hard knockdown. (I could explain this part in detail if you want me to)
Bonne Mixer:
In terms of Kara tech heres a setup:
[5L (blocked, or even hit) > Kara 5H xx 624L]
Theyre blocking the 5L and you can cancel into 5H to move you forward, and then kara cancel that into L Command Grab.
Tick Grabs: Eh use common sense here.

Movement Options: Some more obvious than others.
-Walking (Slow but youre not getting hit by anything as long as you can react to whats coming)
-Wavedash
-Plink Dash (For Tron since she has recovery on her dashes, this isnt really THAT MUCH better than just wavedashing)
-Waveplink dashing (which is a combination of the above two, pretty fast)
-TK Drill to get around (+1 on block can cover the whole screen, even if you mash the full distance, even a L3XF Wolverine in Charge cant punish you with 5L. Be wary of grabs if you press a button after though)
-Ground Drill (Unsafe of course, but itll cover the screen in a blink if you need to move somewhere fast (Maybe not as much as Waveplinking though, but way easier)
-Dash Jumping (Dash then jump, then hold back. Gives you time to react to whatever your opponent is about to do. If they attempt to throw you have time to tech, if they throw a projectile on the ground, you can IAD quickly, etc.)
-Dash Brake (Dash and then crouch to react to something, not exactly Guilty Gear level dash brakes, but decent enough)
Movement Options where Tron covers herself:
-Boulder Cancel > Drill (Using the boulder to cover your entry, if spaced properly its not too punishable. If boulder hits you get a free combo)
-Servbot Launcher > Dash in (Where Servbot ends up basically tells you how far you can go while the Servbot covers you)
-Beacon Bomb M > Dash in (At Full Screen, Tron will recover before the Beacon Bomb hits, giving you enough time to get to about half screen as the Beacon Bomb travels across the screen)

Gustaff Fire:
Deep Fuzzy Setup in Corner:
6M (Deep) > Neutral Jump j.M > j.S
NOTE:
Will only work on the following conditions:
1.The character was hit by 6M standing
2.The character attempted to change block state to low between 6M and j.M, if they continued to just hold back the j.M just misses or gets blocked if the character is tall enough.
3.The character has to be tall enough to get hit obviously.
Safe Chip Pressure:
6M > TK Drill
NOTE:
-This may or may not be a true block string based on distance, character size, and how fast you input the drill. Therefore it is possible to be hit between the small gap of 6M and TK drill, but it is very slim, and usually ends in a trade.
-This is safe after TK drill hits since +1 on block.
-Even if 6M gets pushblocked, you can TK drill since the 6M was already registered as a block.
-The best chance of this being punished is if the first hit of 6M is pushblocked, sending far away enough for the other character to attempt to interrupt.
Crossup:
6M > Jump IAD j.H
Note:
-Once youve conditioned your opponent. You can attempt to bait air grabs by neutral jumping j.L, or jumping back j.S. Of course if they dont try to grab you, youre swinging in the air wildly, its up to you to make the right call.
Random:
Beacon Bomb causes the Air Combo state to reset. Therefore no flying screen effect even if you were able to hit in in the middle of an air combo.
