Tetris DS Side Tournament: Any Takers?

Yes, the new pivoting of the pieces made some interesting new spin properties, but it doesn’t make the game any less viable as a competitive experience (especially since you say you’re just as able to take advantage of the new tactics), so why not hold a Tetris DS side tournament, right?

I’ll say again "Admittedly, I’ll play any version of tetris, but I think all versions with the 7 added bonus features to help scrubs just suck."
and “I’ll still beat most of the players here with bs tetris, but I think its cheesy is all.” BTW thats 1 of 7 cheezy mods. U still didn’t say anything about how climbing stair cases isn’t cheezy, or saving lines and all that. You can get a O to the bottom and then just to regroup rotate (which has NO AFFECT) and no penalty. Slide left to right on solid ground no penalty. I personally think its retarded.

What’s your friend code, lets MM and transfer money via paypal.

^^^I’m tempted to do that…but I need to get my DS back from my friend…damn girl’s obsessed with it…

I actually think I suck, im basically paying to see how godlike justin is

well is anyone her dow for some WiFi batles prioro Evo? :wonder:

When it comes to that, it’d simply be gouging. I mean, come on. That’s like saying that it’s GOOD that tickets to a Red Sox game at Fenway cost 150 bucks a pop…since the Sox make more money and can therefore sign more players or some damn thing. The fact is, though, that none of the money for the prizes come from the actual entry. Pretty much all the expenses for everything comes from the big Toyota Yaris banner that appears right on top of your screen. And those Google ads to your left don’t hurt, either. Not to mention the DVDs. Same with the Red Sox…the money doesn’t come from the cracker jacks or tickets. It comes from the great big Dunkin’ Donuts sign behind home. When they jack up the price for tickets or swap in a broken game just to bolster an already-guaranteed profit before the game(s) is/are even played, it just speaks volumes about where the priorities of the people in charge are. (If you’re gonna reply, plz put it in the other thread, since I definitely don’t want to derail this thread)

But enough of that…Tetris DS tourney is good. CONTINUE DISCUSSION.

What is everyone’s TetrisDS online rating? I’m usually somewhere between 5500-6200… just curious…

Unfortunately, that’s the rules now. Most of them don’t bother me, except the rotation rules (which are terrible and the biggest issue most people have) and lock after a hard drop being enforced.

I’m pretty sure one reason this was done to make Tetris mathematically solvable ( the wiki you linked to goes into discussion about this). It does make the game easier; and I am not going to pretend the latter was the less significant of the two reasons.

Most Tetris games nowadays have some sort of time-based mechanic to discourage this. Playing versus this is a complete non-factor, as you’re pissing away time your opponent is using to clear lines. And if you want to be a real nit, in versus games there is a limit to the number of times you can spin a single block (it’s something absurd (128 spins IIRC), but it’s there).

This is actually the same rule as above, but a lot less important, as most games that do not lock on contact reset the lock timer whenever a piece moves down a row.

But yes, SRS and infinite are stupid rules.

(Funny how you didn’t mention about how the random generator for the blocks is rigged differently with the current guidelines.)

How about someone brings a supergun and a Tetris the Grandmaster 2 board and we play some real Tetris. :V

well anyway im down for the $$$$. Count me in
