Tetris attack

damn i got zbattle but for some reason i cant connect. i followed the instructions like changing the server name in the .ini file. still got nothin…

have you tried going to portforward.com and making sure you’re forwarding your ports correctly?

in a few weeks, say begining of june, and throughout, i’ll have some time to play TA with you guys an learn stuff.

they have tetris attack for gamboy adv… it comes with dr.mario… have neone tried it yet?

I got my first 11 combo last night. that made me happy

Yeah, I bought it when I got my DS. Its dope, except theres no Yoshi’s Island chars like in the SNES game. In fact, theres no chars at all. Usually I just play lvl 15 vs garbage mode.

Yeah, DS for the ****ing win. I have to order this and start playing on wifi!

This game has one of the “easier” puzzle game formulas to master in my opinion.

The main reason is how the “switch” selector is only horizontal (and can’t be vertical). This makes finding combos and learning what to look for rather easy.

The hard part is intuitively learning what blocks to drop in gaps.

At the start of a match hold down l or r till your screen is full. This is almost always a good idea when you get fast enough because there is always a easy 6 or 12 combo in there.

Don’t keep looking for the same patterns when you clear your screen (and press l or r again to refill it). You get really far with combos when you start learning to kinda “feel” what should be dropped, swapped etc. to make the big combos.

Do watch those demonstration videos more then a few times so you have a really solid grasp of the tricky switches.

Practice your speed on the endless mode. When it starts getting around level 60+ speed wise and you can keep up, then you’ve got the skillz.

oh yeah the snes version is better then puzzle league because slowdown will help you almost always. Also ash is gay.

saying ash is gay is reason enough to believe everything you say.

So whos getting Puzzle Leauge this week?

Well, heres my bit…
I prefer to play somewhat like this:

  1. Start the match

  2. Raise my screen (L+R)

  3. start a combo (4 to 5…) near the top:
this causes an uneven layer, and can even outright win the game by reducing spots to start clearing the large block to come

  4. Start chaining off of the above combo:
chaining downward from near the top, and towards the edges, atempting to get a horizontal chain going, and repeating until the top starts to thin out, then switching it to a vertical chain, moving down a few rows, and continuing

  5. Quickly raise the screen a few lines and drop a 4 or 5 line on them:
this creates an un-even “cleared” layer between your first large block, and your second, stopping them from clearing the next one falling untill the first is completely gone

  6. Clear garbage:
What i try to do, is have 3 or so blocks in a “top” row usually attained by making a row of three, and dropping some blocks into it, and a full “second” row below the top, (with at least one row below the second so you can garbage chain off of both the top and second rows) then allign a row of three from the cleared blocks to drop on both the “top” level, and the “second” level, adding two instead of one to your chain count (Two chains on the same level result in it being counted as a combo-chain [two rows of three counting as one chained six] whereas two rows of three [on different rows], would count as two points for the dropped garbage block, and not a combo) then stopping at twelve, allowing the next row to fall, (after missing the 13th chain) and continuing the process.

Repeat the rise and flow from there OR clear garbage again, based on what your oponent has done.

Also,
I believe the SNES version to be far superior to the N64 port, mainly because in the N64 port, some of the slowdown effects (intended ones or not) were removed.

Love this game! i guess that is one of the most competitive puzzle games ever with Puyo Puyo.

I can make x13 chains sometimes, i also play in Hard… i REALLY need to learn to play on Hard >_< because mostly all pros are playing on Hard in zbattle.

Definitely a great game, still got it for my SNES. I used to have great matches against my cousin in this game, it would be cool to start having some online competition, but I haven’t played in a while, don’t know about those 11-12 combos…

Its really easy to do those 11-12 combos if youre playing on SNES because when theres a bunch of stuff going on in a match, the game starts slowing down, which makes comboing easier.
