Lol. I’ll keep that analogy in mind while I play. Never played a korean MMO before. I’ve definitely heard the bad with the good and take the game in stride.
Idk, Tera is pretty god fucking damn fun.
What server on you broooo
Tera is pretty (very pretty) and the gameplay is really actually quite fun. I couldn’t make it past lvl 15 or 18 or something though because the quests were so damn terrible.
Go grind this and then go grind that. It didn’t even matter that much that you had a more freestyle combat system because the quests were just unbearable.
Looks like I was right, two and a half years ago.
Never change gook-MMO’s.
As if WoW or any other MMOs had better quests, or any open RPG for that matter. It’s always been go here and kill that, deliver this and that, find he or she, etc. Tera allows you to find any npc/mob/etc by clicking the name in your quest log so there’s no need for any tedious searching. If you do enjoy the search though, you can do that as well.
Solo in any mmo can be pretty boring. But when quest grinding with a friend or two, it is pretty fun. The boss/instances and BAM battles are a lot of fun. I wish I knew what PvP was like though.
I’m on Arachnea or whatever with a couple friends. One of my friends is a long time WoW player and some of his guild members are playing too so I joined them.
boom
i’ll stick with single player rpgs like fallout
although i am level 55 in aion and when 3.0 comes out i’ll hit 60 just because i’m badass like that. hitting new level cap will help me gank idiots who still play the game.
Go play The Old Republic.
That game will never ever ever feel like a grind from 1-50.
Bah, I’m on Jagged Coast with mah buddies. We got in during CBT2, so we figured we might as well roll on a PvP server.
All MMOs have pretty crappy quests. SWTOR had crap quests too…but the story behind them was awesome, so it doesn’t seem so bad.
Oh shit this thread lives?! I’m on Arachnea
IGN: Niddhogg
I necro’d since I felt like seeing if others were interested.
My ISP is trolling me. Been lagging and getting .34 Mbs through the past 2 nights with fluctuations. This morning, it’s not lagging at all. I hope I don’t get back from work and find it lagging like shit again during CBT weekend.
Shit my toon is so hot.
This is one MMO where I don’t have to alt-tab to jack off once in a while.
From what I’ve read around the internet, K-TERA is supposed to be revamping levels 1-40 in a big update patch. Not sure if this is in game yet but it doesn’t seem like it has made it to the closed beta tests from what I’ve heard people saying, supposedly the revamp will be included in the open beta. I still hate that this game has a subscription fee .
F2P quality never matches up in my experience.
Got to play today, but it was on a friend’s beta account over at his house his wife was on the network doing work from home and Time Warner seemed to be messing around with stuff, so the lag may have been messing up stuff for me, but I found it to feel a bit clunky. Also, I intend on playing a Berserker, the slowest attacking class, but still I think only a bit of it can be attributed to lag. Hopefully my experience is a rare one.
Game looks good though. Titty-liscious as the screenshots suggest. A few off things about character creation though: the models are too shiny so colors are off once you select one. It’s like they went crazy with the shader models for no reason other than to make your character glisten unnecessarily. I play on Win XP, so maybe on the older DX 10, it won’t look so ridiculous. I wanted to make a black chick, but the skin just ended up looking awful, no matter which color I chose. Second character creation fail: no option to change eye color. WTF? A big fail for a game that’s all about characters and especially how sexy they look, but yet you don’t have one of the most basic option in the genre.
But who cares. All I care about is having a good endgame without too much grinding to get there, and staying perma-outlaw. Nothing else really matters, all else being equal.
Well, it was fun while it lasted.
Some guy randomly opened trade with me and gave me an orange lance. I want that come OBT.
Got to 28. SM was ok, last boss is a douche at running out of Leash range too fast. Tanking all the BAMs in Celestial Hills was easily the best part. Game really gets fun at that point, not doing all the stupid questing and message delivering.
I’ve never played an MMO without factions, but I can safely say that it is shit for PvP. All it seems to do is to encourage griefing. EME’s “solution” of infamy does not counteract that at all. The only good that comes out of this is that despite people being higher level than you, you CAN still beat them…unless of course, you get gangbanged.
I had an archer troll me off of a BAM, then start killing me in camp when I was alt tabbed. I come back in to 10% health, and still managed to kill him due to using my mini heal, kiting him around a tent (archer), and blocking most of his attacks.
Game’s okay. This is my first MMO so I didn’t really know what I was doing. I picked a Castanic lancer, and just started solo’ing. Many of the quests seem a bit boring (escort/fetch quests/kill X enemies), and the lancer skills just seem kind of straightforward and not that creative, although that’s probably an issue with the class itself rather than the game. I was hoping that with the skill chains and different abilities, that I’d be able to do crazy attack combos like DMC3, but the system isn’t nearly that deep. Apparently you can shield cancel the first hit of your 3x attack chain combo, but that’s the only interesting thing I really found.
But as much as I’m complaining about the game, I will say this–it has some of the most ridiculously voluptuous, sensual, boner inducing female characters that I have ever come across in videogaming, bar none.
Gotta get people to forget about grinding and boring quests somehow!
You picked the tanking class. As far as the chain system goes, it not nearly as smooth as they would like you to believe, but it can be useful. Almost completely worthless for lancers though beyond a quick shortcut to using Spring Attack.
I’d advise picking an actual DPS class to fully enjoy the game. Questing as a lancer is dull, and if you’re really going to focus on how generic the quests are since they don’t dress them up at all, it’s one of the worst classes to quest as…until you get quests to kill BAMs. Then it’s fucking awesome. Grabbing a group of people to quest with is surprisingly easy and really speeds up the monotony since you can just blow through the weaker mobs, and you get bonus exp for group.
The end-game pvp stuff is too worrisome. I preordered, but should probably cancel it since everyone who plays K-Tera says it’s a very PVE-centric experience.
