I’m not going to lie. A big part of what made us consider the move in the first place was politics. We just don’t share the American perspectives on how things should work. As a consequence of my wife and my interests in politics we find that it’s often difficult to have friends of traditional persuasions. This is especially difficult since we’re in the south. All in all it’d be nice to have a higher chance of meeting people with similar perspectives.

I totally understand. I’m a black guy who studies Japanese at a racist university so it took a while to find people who could have civil discussions and still feel comfortable around one another.
