Hiryu - I dunno whether to say good games or not but I noticed after the 1 round of our match you weren’t even playing anymore:xeye: You just walked into everything I did for an entire round…come on man! You can beat Cody and I know you can definitely beat mine. Don’t get so caught up in the difficulty of the match that you just lose hope.
Duckie - Every time I see you get up from a tournament match I hear you say “I was gonna lose anyway.” You and I both know that’s not the type of mindset you should go into a tournament with. Half the battle is fought before you even sit down to play and saying things like " Im probably gonna go 0-2." or “I was expecting to lose.” are terrible ways to think. Let’s get some more confidence man! No more loser mentalities!!:nono:

One of the Codys always gets knocked out early:lame: I disagree with the matchup being “random” but I don’t think I could convince you otherwise. Just start beatin my ass from now on. lol
Sev - Another unknown matchup for my Cody. You kicked my ass in that little set we had. I really gotta work on that one. It seems to me like it’s a “Who can start his offense started 1st?” type matchup with it being slightly in Abel’s favor. Gimme another week and you’ll be havin FT5 beer matches with Hiryu at the lonely station. LMAO! (sorry I just couldn’t help it)

I know that the Single Elimination Character Locked Tournament made some people very uncomfortable as well as salty. I feel this sort of thing is necessary to give some people that push they need to really step their game up. When we humans get comfortable we tend to stay where we are, but when things become uncomfortable for us is when we begin to move and take action. I hope those of you that were upset, dug from under the salt and decided to make some serious moves. I want Memphis Street Fighter to be the best there is!!! Let’s do it guys!!

Sev, thanks for helping me out, you were right, it was a lot of info at once, so I only remember about half of it, but nonetheless, I’m practicing all that shit at home. No doubt, I get really nervous playing with people, but alas, I will hopefully work on that. :[

By popular opinion, you’d be right. He was much safer and easier to win with in DR and particularly cheap in 5.0. He wasn’t so hot in 6.0, but he’s a good character in BR. He just has to be played a different way than before. Strong damage, hard-hits, but without all the stupid shit some other characters have, so he has to break you down with jabs, mix-ups, well placed throws, shenanigans, jabs/headbutt/parry to relieve pressure, until he can get in and keep an offense going, all of which revolves around spacing and keeping him safe in the process since alot of his OMG THAT SAFE FAT FUCK shit was toned. Thus, people dropped him because alot of them were just tier-whores to begin with. You could tell they didn’t like the character anyway, only what he was capable of. Coincidentally, the most renowned former Ganny players, KOR(Lars/Bob), Crow(Steve/Bob), Bronson(Julia/Bruce), were at MLG Columbus and I talked to them. All of them basically don’t want to put forth the effort to win with him in BR, and do you see a pattern to the characters they NOW use lol.
Whatever, I’m the only dude repping him consistently, or even using him period, in U.S. tournies. Because I’m going to take a major with the help of people’s ignorance and sleeping on this powerhouse. For BR to be such a balanced game with so many characters, you see an overwhelming amount of the tiers dominating character selection at these U.S. tournies and majors. Yet you have at least one of “the other characters” making top 8 each time. So…

I apologize for the poor sportsmanship. I will admit the first perfect round got me shook. The reason I walked into the punches next round was so that I could clear my head, “reset”, if you will. It’s a random thing to do, I’ll give you that, but I was trying to get my head straight. Anyway, you outplayed me flat out, and I’ll have to do better next time, both during and after the game. Again, my apologies for being salty, but it’s frustrating to play your Cody. No dropped links, good techs, etc.
I almost wish you were on xbl so I could play you in endless just to learn that matchup more and adapt to your style of play. You played a good game, and my apologies that I didn’t.
Aight first off GS to KimJongPhr on live. Your Ryu footsie was on point. Those Able v Ryu matches are always close I was trying to hard to ultra those FBs on reaction and failing miserably at it. Got to work on that a lot more. Hit me up any time you are on.

Bishop: Yes I firmly believe that Able v Cody is all about who gets offense off first. I do feel it is in Able’s favor in that I think its easier for him to get a KD and he has more options to harry Cody on wake up than the other way around.

I agree with the match being in Abel’s favor. Tornado throw is what makes Abel’s offense so good because it’s unbreakable and that roll is Abel’s way out of tight situations. Good pokes, damage, offense, and defense. A damn near perfect character in my book.
Next week we will get some time in training mode and I can show you some ways to get around his offense as well as how to beat him.
I think it would push him to the edge of being his own top tier to be honest. He already has tools for overheads that people just aren’t creative enough to see… Such as using a meaty headstomp so that the difference between an empty DR into low short meaty and the HS meaty high mixup is less than 6 or 7 frames apart.

I actually uploaded that match, not for the gameplay per say, but to show off the Bison fundamentals, ultra baits, safe jumps, corner pressure, and Option selects. Each of which are exemplified in that match very clearly and cleanly.
Ah, sorry going to the beach this weekend. If there is anything next week i would love to go because i only play online at my friends’ house with a 6 mbps connection or greater otherwise.
I just wanted to add in that if your character can option select a cancel as a meaty on Abel’s wake-up and immediately throw, you need to do it. It shuts down basically all of his escape options (rolling) and depending on how fast your cancel can come out even EX CoD.
Yes this is great info and also sucks…well for me. I agree though and I think Cody can do this off a meaty low short or c. Strong. Will have to test though.
