THIS is why I’m not uber hyped. I love the idea, I love the character choices so far, but that engine and the inclusion of gems makes me go ehhh?
I’ll prolly still play it to throw LOLOL King+Abel on a team LOLOL, but I don’t see it unseating SF4 or KOF 13 in my playlist for very long.

Also SFxT is ugly as shit, but so was MK9. I hope it is good, only because KOF will probably die in America after EVO unless jackasses realize they need this game in their lives after watching all of the evo season streams.
I was hoping for SFxT that they would keep the traditional Street Fighter gameplay (well I really mean IV’s gameplay cuz that’s what they’re pimpin’ now) and just adapt Tekkens characters into it. Pandora with the tag system looks cool, but yeah the ABC 123 combo just seems like an insult to everyone’s intelligence. In marvel the simplicity has to be there because the overall game is much more complex but SFxT doesnt seem that way, hopefully footsies are still going to be important.
I think it’s funny how everyone is hating on SFxT having “ABC 123” combos when you all should be thankful. A game is coming out where the player’s victory wont be decided by whether or not he can pull off the right combo at the right moment and you’re skeptical about playing it?. It’s like people hate on anything that will expose weakness in their gameplay. If you’re such a good and smart player then what difference does it make whether or not the combos in the game are links or chains?
There is such a thing as personal preference.
Really my only issue with the game is the gems. I think those are pretty effing stupid. But I’ll reserve judgment until I play the shit.
I chatted briefly with Combofiend, Mike Ross, and fubarduck at SB about the game. Mike and Combo both love it, citing it as “footsies until you hit someone, THEN YOU GO CRAZY” which is kind of exciting to me. Fubar and myself were both kinda in the boat of still wondering what the hell they are trying to do with the game.
Keep in mind Mike and Combo’s background are MASHEN GAEMS so they might be a little biased.
^this. Don’t get me wrong I don’t mind the ABC 123 crap that this game may have like MvC3, I just hate how it’s just too damn easy and brain dead sometimes.
I’m still gonna get the game, although like everyone has said already, the gems are a huge turnoff for me and I hate the fact Capcom keeps catering to the damn n00bs, but hey if it gets them money then I guess it fine and dandy. I just hate easymode BS in games nowadays.

I agree… SFxT is looking extremely dumbed down. Like even compared to Marvel… So I feel like it’s going to get boring quickly. And I think the character models look fine but the effects look pretty bad.
But whatever, I’ll try it. Cause I’m that guy.

But Honda is a pretty cool guy. He drops butts and doesn’t afraid of anything.
I just really dislike Honda and Blanka. Honestly in all of Street Fighter I only hate like 5 characters and those two happen to be in that five.

If anything you would want this game to do well as Capcom is on record stating that the future development of fighting games rest on the success of Street Fighter x Tekken. So you as a Marvel player should be hoping this game do well if you want to see an eventual MvC4 down the line. So yea, March 6th is a kinda important date if you like Capcom 2D fighting games and want to see more of them in the future.
Besides, EVERYBODY should want these games to do well. I vividly remember playing CvS2 and 3rd Strike in 2002 and 2003 and wishing to myself “Man, I sure hope a Street Fighter 4 comes along kinda soon.” Had to wait 6 more years for it. And that would suck for the community as a whole. At least they are making games. And to be honest, I think they are putting their heart and soul into producing a quality product. Sure they listen to front page slaws a little too much, but they are at least trying to find the common ground of casual play and tournament play.
