Yo, Marketh. As soon as I entered the city and saw the black guy run up on the lil white girl, I was like, "I’m about to shoot this nigga!"
Savin’ lives ?;’
I lol’d
This thread is quite entertaining, I should hang out in here more often.
Thanks for the tips…i havent played this game yet so this info is useful.
tournament today, bring your A game and a fist full of dollas
Pretty much any of fly mikes posts should be copied to a DVD and back up hard drive for the benefit of posterity. It would be a public service real talk.
@Gram: I heard Shen was supposed to be pretty good. Honestly all I knew getting into this game was I HAD to play Vice since she is like 1 of my 2 fav characters in KOF ever so I spent the most time learning her. Since my exec is usually average or below after that I just messed with chars that I could do their stuff and applied a simple team strat. King is there as a battery and to annoy the opp. She doesnt need bar to do dmg just drive gauge, if she kills one char great. Vice needs meter to be scary and she doesn’t need drive gauge so there is synergy there. Vice with bar is a mean bitch. Andy is another char I like who just happens to be really solid and safe so he made sense as anchor. And with 3 bars he has an anywhere punish with his neo max. Playing Mike all that shit just happened to work out in practice. I think it was annomoly actually I doubt it will work out as well the next time I play lol.
Good luck to anyone at the ville tourney.
Yeah, I’m only level 15, and my smithing is in the 70’s right now thanks to Iron Daggers. One-handed is in the 50’s already too. I’d like to level enchanting more (mid-30’s right now), but it’s been a slow grind for me. How did you have a constant supply of gems? For souls, I need to find a weapon like you described - one that traps souls after the kill.
oh, and ex iori is here, but I need someone to unlock Saiki when they get here, since apparently I’m dumb and didn’t
I just found some silly shit with strider before I leave. Expect a video tonight.
edit: nevermind, I just suck.
edit: or not. this sucks…
edit:
Or learn soul trap.
Ya he’s definitely up there, hos damage is insane and his execution is braindead, but even then it’s mainly just pokes with him until you get the hit with him. Oh and his Supers are both mindnumbing, lawless better not jump or fireball cause if you d-BRICKED!!! But ya he to me seems like the ultimate punishment charac-BRICKED!!!
Trapping souls is easy as shit… The soul trap spell is just a pain in the ass though. It’s best to get a companion and just give them a weapon that can do it. They come up all of the time. If you join the mages college you can just buy soul gems from them (they’re really cheap). You make your money back with a profit for buying empty soul gems (petty / lesser) filling them in dungeons, and bringing equipment back from the dungeons for enchantment.
Each type of enchantment increases the price of the weapon by a specific amount. So, figure out which you have and just keep using that when leveling. The best 2 enchantments to use for this purpose are Banish (#1) and Paralyze (#2).
If you’re a warrior then the best thing to do is get the conjuration perk that gives your conjured weapons soul trap. Then, your conjured weapons (which are basically comparable to the best equipment in the game) will automatically trap souls.
Who all is coming to the Knoxville tournament? I am going to bring Josh. I wish we could come to Nashville today, but we will be there for the 7th unless Stephanie has to have surgery around that time and I can’t leave her.
@Gram: Yeah Mike slapped the shit out of me with his super a few times in matches yesterday. That dude hits like a truck and I knew I didn’t want him near me. Thankfully most of the time Mike started him vs King so I could try and zone him. I think the best thing about the game so far is that even though you can kind of tell who is better “on paper” tier wise the basic system seems to help even people out. Guard cancels, fwd or back rolls ect.
Mike also scared the shit out of me with Maxima since several of his moves have like hyper armor or some shit. I was not prepared for that. His drive cancel combos look ill too taking you from one side of the screen to the other lol. Its like Able’s super but on crack and redbull.
Also can anyone tell me what causes hard knockdown in KOF? I know cmd grabs do but to regular grabs and sweeps? And are rolls cmd grab proof?

Going to throw this out there (this is not to spark or start drama, don’t know how you would but if any of you try it off of this post, don’t even hit your ‘reply’ button please):
Not naming names at all here because a few people I know have done this and personally said this to me, but not coming to tournaments because “I’m not playing in tourneys anymore because there is no reason to if I can’t place top 3 and make a name for myself and get famous” is complete bullshit and you know it. In a 20 man bracket, only 3 people are getting money. If the other 17 people had that same mindset, the scene here would stagnate and die out. If the 2,000+ people in the AE bracket at Evo just decided “Fuck it, insert big name player is going to win, I’d rather save my money!” then where would we be? Every member of the fighting game community makes up a special part of the community itself as a whole and have made names for themselves regardless of whatever, no matter if it’s for:
- Hardcore execution
- Iron will
- Sheer determination
- Being fucking hillarious
- Being the nice guy
- Being the villain
- Being a lovable idiot
- Zzzzzzzz’ing
Don’t ever feel like you don’t have room to grow and improve. Personally, Street Fighter 4 was my first competitive fighting game, I was a FPS/TPS gamer up until Dream sat me down on release day and said “Hey, help me unlock these stupid characters” and I was hooked. I picked big boy Giefy and I am where I am today. I’ve only ever won one tourney here (MK) and only placed top 3 once in Street Fighter, yet I try so hard to attend every single tournament for the games I play in the area. Your cover and entry fee do more for you than you think.
Please support your local scene, if you don’t have one then put one together with bubble gum and masking tape, and always remember to tip your waitresses.
I had no idea conjured weapons were actually good in Skyrim. Conjured weapon + Orc’s Berserk ability = instant death everywhere?
Agreed. I’ve signed up several times for AE without even having the game, and my matches are hilariously derpy. lol
I second this. Probably the best thing about FGs as a whole is the amount of cool people I met through the hobby and supporting the scene. I mean entry fees for most events are what 5-10 bucks a game or maybe 10 venue fee and a 5 buck game entry fee. Thats nothing. You would spend 2-5 times that if you met your friends at a bar and watched a game. And at an event you get to play in the tourney and usually casuals.
I will say I understand if people cant go to a bunch of events that are hours away. Making time for that gets harder the more responsibilities you get but your local scene you should definitely try and support. The last thing we need is another FG drought where the only real events are in LA or NY and its just a few people in cities and towns left playing 10 year old games.
I completely agree Richard. I wish we lived closer so Josh could come a lot more than he is able to. He is a prime example of how going to tournaments helps not only you as a player but the scene over all. At his first GG tournament he went 0-2, but instead of giving up and not playing he was determined to not let it happen again and it hasn’t. Obviously my opinion and observations are purely from a spectator perspective but there is ALWAYS room for improvement with any game. Going to tournaments and playing different people is the best way to level your game up. When you have good players to help you there is just no excuse. I have heard Josh say so many times how he wished the scene here would grown for SF and it is slowwwwly starting to. So count your blessings that you all HAVE a scene and people that play your game of choice. I personally think if you don’t take advantage of Jason’s knowledge on ANY fighting game then that is just retarded. Love him or find him annoying, it doesn’t matter. No one can deny he is amazing at fighting games. He is a large reason why Josh is as good as he is. Anyway I will stop ranting now. It’s Saturday, I’m bored and tired of watching and listening to Josh bitch about how 2012 sucks and why couldn’t they have given Rufus something too! LOL!! Good luck to everyone in Nashville today.
See BobSmack, our scene is actually pretty dope. You’d be surprised how much trouble just one or two people can cause when you let them loose on the internet.
Very good games to Pat and Manus last night in KoF and AE. I have found the equalizer vs. Ralf: Kula’s st. B. I have found it and it is glorious. Thank you Based FryMichaels.
Also, hanging out after with Pat, Big Jake, Eddie, Done (Jake’s wife), and Cory (Jake’s friend) may have been the most epic night I’ve had in a lonnnnng time. I needed that shit right there. In case any of you are wondering, Big Jake has been out of commission the past few days due to being rear ended [pause]. Got to chill with him last night - he actually didn’t even know there was a tourney tomorrow until yesterday. He’s even had to put the tattoo apprenticeship on hold while he handles other shit. I only tell you all this because we’re all friends here and I’m sure a lot of you were wondering where he’s been.
Pat thanks again for letting us talk you into coming out man. I know you were beat but shit ended up being a blast.
Oh and life tip - it’s ok to tip belly dancers. Just don’t do it when they are balancing a tray of fire on their heads. You’d think you wouldn’t have to tell people that, but apparently that is not the case.
See y’all at the tourney today! I’m kinda coming into this one with an IDGAF attitude do to other shit going on. But, that’s when I tend to do the best, so we’ll see how this goes. Good luck to everyone coming out and thanks for supporting us as always!
Something like this should be accompanied by a pic man. Im just saying.
Really though its an unspoken rule that when anyone is handling something like oh I dont know FIRE you dont touch them but what do I know I’m old.
Haha there were no incidents last night, otherwise I would have lol. She was actually telling us about that. But yeah, apparently people like to make it rain over a plate of fire…
