I liked Mak, I messed around w her when 3rd strike dropped. but I dunno much about her 4 iteration. i like to mixup off knockdowns and shit, but over the last few months, I’ve learned I prefer to play kinda lame…i like Juri, and I feel I’ve learned alot with her, and I felt since I been playin her so long, I should stick with her now and suck it up since so many others ave done alright for themselves w her…, but seriously fuck it at this point… guess is time to do some character searchin…and KoF… I’ll play it and see how I like it, and start paying more attention to it. i’ve watched a few matches here and there of it on various streams, but I havent touched one of thier games before. i keep hearing the execution is strict…no?..3rd strikes’ execution whooped my ass honestly, how does it compare?
The execution isn’t strict, it’s just different. If it’s hard to do something then you’re simply doing it wrongly. KoF is not mired in a lot of Capcom conventions. It takes a bit to adjust. It’s not scrubby like MvC but it’s also not as serious as SF3. Just my take on it.

Dre: For SF4 really just play who you like. Supposedly Juri got some buffs in AE2012 and is getting more play. Even a few “big names” are using her so you should have some high level footage to watch and analyze. Or you could drop her for a “better” char. There really is no wrong choice.
RE KOF: Yes execution is harder but not by that much. You really cant compare it to a SF style game because the timing is very diff and KOF has its own different set of mechanics shortcuts and buffers. The best thing though is several people playing the game are new to it as well and dealing with the learning curve

shawn: I think you mean SF2…SFIII series is not strict at all…it’s stricter than SFIV but the super cancels are baby mode and the only “difficult” thing in the game is charge partitioning… no special moves in any of these games are difficult, just a lot of people are used to shortcuts…I never really dealt with them but the only time I absolutely have to is with a couple of Viper combos and T Hawk wakeup because I’ll get the grab out instead 1/2 the time…

Also sad as is but my grandma passed away earlier this morning. It hurts so bad that words can’t begin to describe the pain. We were all really close to our grandma and the sadness and crying in my house right now is too much to bear. But in the meantime…yea man…you need to get your hands on that KoF XIII. If you like Juri, then Takuma has the same stance. And is sexier (yes homo). Just saying. But if you’re worried about execution and stuff, don’t sweat it. Just ease your way in, pick you a squad of tight pants dudes or pedophile bait chicks, and go from there.
Yeah, KOF is most definitely harder than 3s as far as execution. Their are lots of small little shortcuts in KOF that help you do combos, but that is because there is ALOT to learn. I would say you should be able to bust out an 80% combo with all three of your characters any time you need ( meter permitting ) if you want to be able to compete at a big tournament with seasoned players. Combos can get very long in this game, and there are so many little things intricacies to learn about the system and the characters. What Shawn means about “doing it wrong” is that say I want to run up grab (F>HCF P) with Liz. If I want to not get a run up DP, I have to do forward then do an almost 360 to upforward. Somehow this gets me my input plus keeps me from getting a DP.
Reversal windows are stricter than you will be used to in this game, and also many people are having a very hard time with jump ins having like… 1/4th of the hitstun of SF4. Gotta hit that shit deep and be confident with your shit when are going in.
Charge partitioning is hard as fuck. I can do it now, but only if I’ve been playing 3s. Otherwise I have to practice an hour to relearn it, plus TTH. There are hard things in 3s, but mostly just flashy stuff like Kuroda’s akuma tatsu combo.
Don’t let anything deter you from playing KOF. It is the shit. I seriously can’t understand how any SF player hasn’t given this game a shot, unless you just don’t have money or literally have nothing but online. This game is frustrating as shit though. The only thing bugging me is that I think the DLC chracters are going to unbalance the game. Every post arcade character has been godlike, and I don’t foresee any balance patches.

yeah, i know the explanation was optional, but I just felt a lil conscience about it. i dont like the idea of stopping something I started… I think as far as my execution I need to be in training mode with another person, cause by myself, I aint gettin nowhere… some of the links and things like instant dive kicks frustrate the shit outta me when I’m sittin there in training mode for an hour or more, and still cant get the shit down…so I just say fuck it and go back to endless online or something and go for what I know and beat up on scrubs… if I had someone sitting there telling me how I’m doing it wrong would help I think…i do think I have a solid game…my normals and general idea of spacing, footsies and how to block mixups I’ve seen before (or can remember) are pretty good I think, i dont have many textbook setups i just started trying to do stuff like safe jumps and Os’es, but I try to keep it fresh to the best of my knowledge and ability when I’m trying to keep someone guessing when I’m on Offense… I’m just missing that “thing” to take me over the hump of intermediate to really getting in there…I’m really looking into checking out KoF now, I’ve been wantin to learn on a fresh game, i think that would help me too…
