Thanks man.
Yea stop posting on DLoop. Eww. Unless there’s regulars still in that thread or the old heads are still in that forum. I’ll check back one day.
Man, I may not explain this right, but you can guarantee that a blowback attack, whether ground or in the air, prob has more priority than any other attack. Besides that, as for what else beats what, it depends on the startup and for how long the hitbox remains active. I still think they prob should’ve kept the clash system from XII, but whatever. And for DJ Screw, you have to get acclimated to how his normals work anyway as he doesn’t have a natural AA and some stuff is weird with him. I’m still figuring him out myself but I’ll try to help.
Grounded for AA: Tiger Knee doesn’t work like it did before. It’s largely horizontal so its almost just like having another Slash Kick, except it works in some situations. Light TK is faster but no invulnerability. Heavy TK is slow but has invulnerability on startup. EX TK is best of both worlds, but that’s a damn bar. Still can blow it though if you’re in a tight spot and want a quick AA or good wakeup. But for natural AA you’ll want to use normals. I thought it was st. D, but have since been told(and it works) that st.C is best. Or a j. CD. Maybe j. A for if they are right below you. But j. CD is just better all around for air-to-air and reaction AA.
Jumpins: Obvious choice would be j. C but it has slow startup. J.B is better because it’s faster, stays out for a while, and got good hitstun. Less damage, but it’s preferable option for jump-in->combos. J. D can cross people up and starts up fast, but unless you’re deep in it may be hard to get a combo afterwards. So j.B is just the safer option, unless you wanna jump in deep for more damage or to buffer TnT punch combo, then use j.C.
Yea he’s scary if played right. “Right” meaning having a good grasp of the basics as well as the execution to bust out his stuff that hurts. And he gets punished way too hard on mostly all of his shit imo, so up close he has to play a poking game and confirm from there. His st. A hits crouching ppl too so that’s good. From f+B if it’s blocked, you can tag on a light hurricane to make it safe, but if the f+B would’ve hit then the light Hurricane wouldnt have combo’ed in most situations so you’d have to do heavy hurricane/TK/Slash kick/Heel(no knockdown, but keeps pressure). Sigh…dude has to work a little bit, but he shines in a good player’s hands. He could play a true zoning game if he kept his old TK, that flies upwards. Then he could chunk hurricanes and have a guaranteed reaction AA.
They should totally scrap the SF4 art style and never use it again ever. If anything, it should’ve looked like TvC or UMvC3. This game looks nice, but since Blazblue I stay away from all doujin games nowadays. Last ones I liked in this style and from the same developers were Hokuto no Ken, Sengoku Basara X, and of course the king, Guilty Gear XX series.
sf4 looks fine. yall are gay.
Lmao yea right. This is where I tell you to stfu Doc Weave. Art style needs to be forbidden and buried in the depths of the earth. Only thing cool was the water/streak/brush effects. And that was only for like…the first few trailers.
In game, shit looks like I’m watching an episode of the Simpsons. Plus, Ken is He-Man and Ryu is the Hulk, and I don’t know when that happened in the storyline.
EDIT: It doesn’t matter how I feel about how the engine is or whatever. I hate it but I respect it as a fg unlike some other titles. But you can love SF4 and still acknowledge that it’s ugly as sin. Nobody should flame you for it or disown you or ban you from fight nights. But the protruding eyeballs, mutant hands, stumpy bodies, etc…yea. Eww.
Shut up Amfuhney. It looks cool I guess but Ken looks like a muppet… you know Ken looks like a muppet.
Wait, that’s Ken? That’s not Ken… I thought that was Dante…
I was gonna go in paint and create comparison shots like I always do. But fuck you guys. If you can’t see the resemblances then you must sniff a cocaine line each time before you play.
What’s the difference? WHAT"S THE GODDAMN DIFFERENCE?! Can somebody tell me? Oh that’s right, you can’t.
I’m outi…
Ryu looking like a caveman has always bothered me. At least the art style complements Blanka. lol
Yea man, it disgusts me. Imma say this and then be out for real because I shouldn’t have to point out how SF4 has looked ugly for years now and shit.
But yea, it bothers me too the direction they’ve decided to go with Ryu and how he looks now. Spiky hair? Ok cool, he’s a japanese guy so whatever. It’s legit. But how dude is always screaming now and looking like the Hulk and having those eyes that looked like he’s been retarded all his life. Then have him yelling with his eyes buck. Like he wired on that good crack. Cocaine in his Folgers cup. It’s pretty fucked up. Even carried that shit over to Marvel where he’s screaming in portraits and shit. You dudes cant tell me that him and Hulk don’t look like brothers. Especially since they got the spiky hair Hulk in MvC3. Them niggas look like a before and after of getting on the roids and taking a bath in a tub of pea soup.
Eww goddamn shit makes my flesh crawl. Ugly ass art style.
Ryu isnt green?
Ken has a wife so he is not a homo like he-man, nor does ken go to battle against taskmaster
That’s the difference
So damn! Who’s at fight night???
Good question, LOL!!!
When I first saw the early screen shots of SFIV I was a major hater, but it’s grown on me. They did a good job of interpreting Ikeno’s art style. Most of the models in TvC and MvC3 look plastic-y, but what they did with IV gives it a unique quality. However, I realize its not for everyone (Ken’s hair still kind of bugs me), and for the sake of progress and letting each iteration of Street Fighter be unique, I also think it should change for the next game.
Ikeno’s art:

He’s done much more “traditional” looking renditions of Ryu, even did quite a bit of work for SFIII:3S. It seems for this game he wanted to try and emphasize the 3D shape and form of each character to give it more personality. Most people probably think of AKIMAN, BENGUS or Kinu Nishimura when they think of Street Fighter art, and thats because they did most of the art for all the earlier games.
Akiman’s art: (I think the bottom right one is Ikeno)
Bengus’ art: (basically ALL the Alpha art, Marvel art up to 2, and all the VS/DS art. Also TONS of early SFII stuff)
Nishimura’s art: (CVS stuff as you can see, but a lot of 3S stuff as well)
Sorry to hijack this thread but art is a pretty big thing for me. lol
Im actually a big fan of Akiman and ESPECIALLY Nishimura’s artwork. Some of Capcom’s best artwork has come from those 2 guys.
I loved the CVS2’s artwork. Who drew the SNK side’s more realistic artwork. It always creeped me out.
Now that I look at it, it looks like the TvC/Marvel 3 promo art. Amirite?
Yeah its the same artist, Shinkiro. He used to work for SNK but when the company basically dissolved before becoming SNK Playmore, they picked him up.
I’m personally a fan of Kinu Nishimura’s sketches for street fighter II X.
Çvs2 has the worse art in the world in the ankle side. They all look too realistic and creepy.
@FlyMike you’re talking about the old TN thread. The only TN thread that matters on dustloop is mine: http://www.dustloop.com/forums/showthread.php?11168-Middle-Tennessee-Needs-Gaming!-Monthly-Versus-Tournies&p=956370#post956370 For our tournament monthlies.
@King of Fighters talk. DP’s aren’t -that- good. Some of them don’t even have invuln or guard point. The true anti-airs are normals, especially with hop pressure, one might not have the time to motion the DP on reaction.
Yeah me too. Hey look at that. He even drew my avatar!
A question for any of you that know about pokemon. I found a stack of old pokemon cards dated from the mid 90’s and 4 23K gold plated metal pokemon cards from 1999 in my downstairs. Are they worth anything? I have no clue where these even came from but I would sell them in a sec if they were worth money. LOL!
