You guys want to know who I lose to in the Memphis Ranbats 95% of the time? Sev and Cylus. The only other people I can recall losing to in the Ranbats are Orel(twice I believe), Eraser(once or twice), Hiryu(once), Jan(once), Chithappens(once). Everyone else I have either never lost to or never played. I can honestly say that Sev has been the ONLY person to beat me for free with Cylus being the 2nd hardest to beat(no disrespect). In my opinion though, the Memphis ranks for now are:

GGs to everyone at fight night last night. Both SF and Tekken represented. I fucking beat Gene TWICE in T6 and had like 3 other close fights. Lost like 8 to him though badly but still. Feels so good to actually see improvement in that game. Anyway
Bishop: If you are interested I should be free this Friday afternoon if you want to come by and get a practice session in. I know Jas and Rukus expressed some interest as well. We can work specifically on the Cody/Able match or any others I have enough knowledge on to be of some use if you want. Jas this goes for you too
Woot: Honestly turnouts for fight nights had been very good since your departure through the end of the year. Squab has exact numbers but the bi weekly ranbats had at least 16 entrants average and there were plenty of times there were over 20 people at Hastings. Its slowed down some with the holiday but thats to be expected. The main issue more tournies didn’t happen here in the last year was lack of venue more than anything else. We just dont have an easy/cheap venue that can accommodate 30+ people. But Lycan may have some good news for us today so lets hope
Eraser: Do I even have to say anything here? :lovin: All BS aside your Sag is better than I would have expected. You should keep playing him. We need a Sag player in this part of town
GDBell: Majin is inviting about a tekken scene and will pretty much help anybody. As a scene overall Tekken is less inviting in some ways than SF. Most of the players here are good and there is so much to learn early on that new players loose all day. And I dont mean loose like you loose a SF match. I mean you get perfected on every round and early on its very hard to see “why” something did or did not work. A lot of the players here also have a very “trial by fire” mentality that some people cant deal with. But I have to say improving at this game is so rewarding because of that as well. When TTT2 drops though I will be working very hard to get a scene for it at Hastings. And hopefully we can get some of the other local players to come out for it. Already Gene, Bishop and Clark come out quite a bit and they are easily in the top 6 in town.
Mike: I rescind my challenge to you in Tekken. Seeing now how well I did versus Gene I am on a new level. Instead I issue a challenge to you but I will be fair and let Lycan play you in my place. You know let him handle my light work. Then we can play SF and take pics of you smiling like a crazy man. :looney:

That’s my attitude every time I play, be it a tournament, mm, ranbat, or just fun shit-talking casuals… If you beat me, so be it, pretty sure I learned a few things… But you will always get 110… :woot:
This is exactly how I feel right now… I’m improving, just at a slower pace than normal and it seems to be b/c I’m wayyyyyyyyy too inconsistent… Like I have a “light switch” that determines when I play to my full potential… …need a piece of duct tape.
When your damn light switch is on your matches are so fucking fun to watch, and terrible to participate in.

What I find amusing about this is that I made more money off of Street Fighter than anyone else in Memphis last year, possibly even combined. 
And it’s not that I’m casual. I just have my own pace, and none of the games I play regularly are considered active scene games. I’m one of the top TvC players in the region, and I’m getting pretty damn good at MvC2 pretty quickly (though I would certainly not be taking tournaments anytime soon). When MvC3 drops I guarantee I’ll be spending nearly every ounce of my free time on that one. I’m actually kind of hoping I don’t have a job by then so I can just gorge myself on it.
What ground me to a halt though was getting fired from my job and not being able to justify the $30 a week for food and gas anymore. I really go to more tournaments than most do around here. Four in MS last year, however many there were in Memphis, EVO, Final Round, and I would have gone to NEC, MWC, and BtfSII and w00t’s tournament had I not gotten fired from my job. I still allow myself about 3-4 hours a week of practice time, but to me fighting games aren’t fun without anyone else around.
But my point is this: People who want to get better will find ways to make it happen. Some people do make excuses as to why they’re still poor at the game, however some people DO have legitimate circumstances that prevent them from focusing their efforts on anything except digging themselves out of the holes they’ve gotten into. It’s just a matter of practics.

Sev: I feel you man. I do want to learn me some Tekken though as I like most fighting games. When I first came into the community I for one was shocked by all the hate between communities because me and my friends always played whatever fighting game was available and enjoyed it. But whatever. I am actually looking at getting me a Korean stick made for Tekken by some guys up in Seattle. There is no way I can play that game on a PS3 pad because my hands are far too large. So let’s try and get some games in next time I come so I can get those mandatory beatings out of the way!

Ok,so after 10 pages of catching up (i don’t get on here too often lol) and ridiculous arguments about all kinds of shit i guess it’s time for me to say something.
First off, Duckie my bad man i didn’t catch your post cause i wasn’t on so i didn’t leave my stick with Cylus but i def want that done as soon as possible. Hit me up so we can work something out a.s.a.p
As far as the whole Bishop incident right now I think our main goal right now in Memphis should be to 1:build a bigger and varied scene 2:find a venue for regular tournaments and 3: to help each other out and level up with the times we have available to play. That’s how it should be right now.
I understand ppl have lives and responsibilities but yes there is always time for gaming regardless of life’s circumstances so with that said make the most of that time to level up. Making excuses for poor play is stupid really lol But it is funny to think how some ppl can spend so much time training and such and yet still not be that much better than you should be. I for one take ssf4 serious enough to wanna be better and provide everyone here in Memphis good comp so we can level up but not serious enough to wanna be top in the US or anything so outside of hastings the only times i play ssf4 is once in a while online with Bishop or sometimes offline with my friend but other than that i rarely visit training mode or anything but yet in the past few months i’ve been playing the game i have made vast improvements in the game with the time i have spent with it. Why? because i care about getting better and make an effort to do so with the time i do put into it. I can honestly say that there isn’t one single person that attends hastings that i have not gotten wins off of. Granted i’m not suggesting in any kind of way that i’m automatically better than them but i’m merely saying i have improved a lot going from being a scrub who got merked 3 months ago to actually holding my own and wining vs everybody i play at hastings. The only person i have played here in memphis in that game and can say i haven’t beaten yet is Wootsick and only because i played him a few matches one time only but other than that i can throw down with anyone here in memphis regardless of who it is and i will continue to get better and that’s that.
Point is if anyone wants to get better there are no excuses just desire to do so. Sometimes you have to make sacrifices according to how much better you want to get but that’s a different thing. All in all Memphis is going places yes but we need more motivation here. I always do my best to bring plenty of hype every time i show up and will help in any way i can and i will talk shit to anyone (but all fun not serious lol) but at the end of the day we need to help each other out and keep the scene alive.
p.s. one month till mvc3 gets here and while everyone is already planning teams and what not lol i’ll be waiting patiently for the game to drop and take it from there.
