I basically laid out certain things about how you have been coming off on the forums. Don’t you ever wonder why you get so many responses from the regulars all of a sudden when you make certain posts? Think about it. I have no beef with you. Again I re-iterate that I think you are a good dude. But you may have to think about how the things you post can be perceived by people in the scene.
I did not post that to embarrass you or provoke you. A lot of stuff in there is stuff I myself learned through time here at srk and in my local scene. You can do two things. You can let go of your anger, and try to see that I’m in fact trying to help you understand how you are viewed here. Or, you can get mad, ragepost and never come out or become a part of the Memphis scene. It’s up to you.
I think you are good people, just a bit in-experienced in certain things. We want you to be part of the scene. We want you to come out and have fun with all of us. I’m just telling you some stuff i wish someone told me when I first joined srk and the competitive fight scene in general. It’s all a learning process.
I wanted to try out some character stuff too I had it all written out. I guess I’ll just have to wait till Monday night unless anybody from the boro goes on the weekend. Back to the books I guess…

You’re new to the forums and because of that we really don’t know you yet. And because you’re new, you also lack proper etiquette because you just haven’t been around long enough to know the ropes around here. You’re also anxious to get some respect around here, so you keep shooting off what you “know”, which contradicts proven information that turns around and makes you look inexperienced, and then leads you to turn around and say other stuff that makes you look bad. Remember – the weakest dog always barks loudest.
Really, it’s better to keep your mouth shut and give the appearance of wisdom than to open it and remove all doubt. Read more, talk less. Go search through forums and read matchup information then compare it with your own findings. Stop telling us what you know. We probably already know it (except me, because I suck). Be more self-reflective instead of trying to build yourself up to everyone.
Seriously, in real life you’re cool as shit. You’re polite, respectful, and funny. You ask questions and show an eagerness to learn. Yet on the forums you come off as boorish, rude, cocky, and spout off what you know like it’s gospel (even if it’s proven false). You also talk too much shit and act FAR too excited about everything. Let me put it this way: the night of my birthday I was kind of disappointed that you showed up, but by the end of the night (and that kick ass cigar you gave me that I smoked later) I was telling Severin “Dude, gdbell is a cool guy in real life! He acts nothing like he does on the forums. I’m glad he came out!”
And another thing: just because you beat a person once doesn’t mean you’re better than they are. I’ve beaten every one of the PPG regulars at least once by now (save Cylus) and you never hear me brag about it or claim to be better than anyone. In fact, I consistently claim to be the worst. Sagat and Cammy? I haven’t been playing either one for more than two months. Bragging about beating me is like bragging about beating a donkey with a mirror on its face – you just make yourself look like an ass.
tl;dr version: chill out, ask more questions, and we like you but gawd you need to shut the hell up sometimes…
