I’m assuming you’re talking about like a ranked online style of whatever it is you’re playing. The couple days before MWC I used ranked to practice for SSFIV and I was doing very well, I went up almost 1000 points in the matter of a few hours, but I measured my progress in the amount of perfects and stuns I got. The day after MWC I got back on and did well again. That same day after a 2 hour break, I got back on and since then I’ve struggled immensely, with I think my worst point being a losing streak in the upper teens.
Do I get angry? Hell yes. But having the forethought to understand that these losses are good for me as they let me know just how much more I have yet to learn makes them worth it. And as most people will tell you, sometime you just have “off” days where maybe you stop doing something right or start doing something wrong that you need to isolate and fix.
Everybody has lost, will lose, and still loses. You just gotta keep playing, adapt, and apply the next go around. Getting your ass kicked should turn on a light inside you that you need to switch it up or try something diff. Obviously you care about progressing, because you’ve had moments where you want to quit. I don’t know when you first started playing fgs, but lots of Ls to be had when you play competent players. Some guys have got streaked for years until they were able to win matches, go back and forth, and eventually just become super solid. It’s a process, and dependant on the player. But experience is the one constant. Stop thinking of it as losing and more along the lines of collecting ammo. The forces of nature say that a person can only get their ass destroyed for so long before they flip a switch and survival mechanisms and instinct kicks in. It’s diff for everybody, but trust, it’ll happen.
P.S. If you’re referring to MvC3 or certain other games then disregard my entire post.
Honestly, and quote me on this until my grave, but this is about as balanced as I’ve seen any fg in history. I swear to God. Fuck tiers here for real, even though they do exist. Pai and Eileen are around the same tier which includes mostly everyone. Lion is top tier. Pai is probably the easiest to pick up and do decent with in a short time out of those 3 and she’s a goid chara to learn basics with. But you really do have to get a grip on the fundamentals before you need to be worrying about anything else. And you can’t be “taught” yomi. That’s completely on you. But this game will condition you and force you to build your mental and rely on it. So it’s good in that regard because then you can take this and apply it to other games you play.
so…the last couple days, i been practicing in marvel 3…I like Dr Doom…havent played much SF outside of getting dragged to a endless every now and again i feel as I’m about as solid as I’mma get in SF right now w/o picking up a second char…or dedicating more practice time for video games than i already do …maybe I can get into this game…Doom’s execution isnt as hard as i thought it would be i do loops an shit in training mode…need to build a team…I kinda know a lil bit about Wolverine from trying to play vanilla…I know I need to play another game after MWC…
should I seriously try VF?..yall make it sound like its sliced bread…i picked up Kof and didnt try to get into it that tough and yall love dat too…didnt really draw me in…always thought 3d fighters did looked cool…
and as much asi was glad to change it up, I’m lookin forward to being back in da M next week
KoF XIII is a really good fg and I had fun with it.
However, VF5FS is my favorite fg and the fact that it is probably the most playable fg online and that the whole community actually plays it online, kinda throws a wrench into my Tekken future. Always liked VF more, but still love Tekken and felt compelled to play it because it had the local scene and was more mainstream. Not as hype for September 11 now, but…sigh it must be done. Will have to juggle both.
I can’t really recommend VF to most people because I don’t know if they want their fighting games to be fighting games. Many people don’t. And I don’t feel like hyping up a game that I play every single day for hours and that fact that this hasn’t happened before in the history of me playing video games. In a way, it’s fucking up my social life but whatever. Anyway, you could try it. But it’s not easymode in the slightest. You’d probably have to untrain your mind about what you have grown accustomed to in fgs. On the flip, this is probably why alot VF players don’t play other fgs.
Idk bro, you’ll either love it or hate it.DOA5 will be out soon too. So you may just want to wait until you can get the electric fences on the beaches. And that new character who is a tae kwon do construction worker. And looks like Channing Tatum from the Magic Mike movie. Me? I’ll slap a nigga if they asked me was I buying that shit. I’m talking about my hand still on their face until after they hit the ground. Already may have lost a friend who reserved it on both systems. And I damn near think twice about continuing playing Tekken now.
My mind, body and soul has truly seen the glory. And it is absolutely wonderful. That’s all I can say. Goodnight.
Tiers dont mean shit in VF compared to player skill and I mean that for real. You can immediately tell if you are playing a skilled Jacky, or a masher. My fear factor goes up in direct proportion to how well the other dude shows me he can play, not his char.
Pai that does PPPK/PPP2K? No sweat, Pai transitioning into Bokutai, using back turned setups and Yomi-ing my counters, I’m straight wet my pants scared.
Same with every damn char, even Taka and Akira.
The way the game works it’s completely in the hands of the player. I’ve never seen this amount of flexibility and straight up fundamentals and Yomi being applied in this way. Shit I love mirror matching because I learn new shit from other players nearly every match.
I played LA Akira last night for about 2 hours. I can honestly say that was the most focused and solid I’ve ever been playing this game. Something in me wanted to win so bad, but I usually do flip a switch whenever I play high level guys in Tekken or whatever. Movement, thought process, execution, reaction, shenanigans, it was all there for me. Won like 4 or 5 matches but many of them went down to last round. I was kind of suprised in that regard, but then again Taka doesn’t have to guess right too many times lol. And I was trying to apply and keep fresh each round. But his Shun is a true monster. Shit was poetry. He drinks with no fucks given and with no fear. You can’t fight a red skin Shun man. If you allow him to get to that point, it’s suicide. Dude is a great player, I totally respect him.
He’s on my friendslist now and hopefully we get another good set soon. I want to play all the top players, and many of them are on XBL. That’s you Abe lol.
So I might have my first job interview this week. Any tips from all of you employed people?
I know to dress appropriately in accordance to how the employees dress. I know not to stammer and say “Um/Uh” while speaking. When asked if I have any questions, I think I’m supposed to ask one or two questions about the company to show interest. Am I missing anything?
Now I just need to remember that my name is Lee and not introduce myself as Astaroth.
Thanks for the replies guys. I think I am looking at it the wrong way. I’m usually good about trying to find out why I lost, but I have those nights where I just get so frustrated that it blinds me to even why I lost to begin with. And yeah I was referring to online matches. The main reason I haven’t been to any fight nights in forever was my Tuesday Night class. But I’m planning on being to every one possible from now on.
As for what games, it’s pretty much any fighting game. I’m probably just out of practice the most part, but it sucks feeling like I’m getting stomped by people I should be beating easily. Like I’m back to square one.
Good luck man, just remember to show a good work ethic, but without talking yourself up too much. You don’t want to sound like “Yeah I’m the shit, hire me bro”
Gotta give it to the man though…he believes in himself. Cats took that video and ran with it with adding the video effects to make him actually “turn super saiyan” lolz
Be honest. Ask questions about the company that are not easily researched. Answer to the best of your ability. Be able to describe anything you’ve referenced on your resume. Having hobbies is a good thing. If you don’t know the answer, describe how you would try to find it and ask how they would approach it as well. That shows interest in learning, and that you are aware of your limits and how to grow.
