So I read that Huey in the comics was based on Simon Pegg…and here is Simon playing Huey’s dad.

Neat!

I’m actually re-reading The Boys right now via Omnibuses they’ve been releasing. I forgot how gruesome and great it is. I had read the boys before back in like 2015 probably but I never bought any singles or trades. I borrowed all the trades from a friend who worked at the comic store I went to for Pokémon, Heroclix and wwe Ppv parties.

He’s one of the key people who got me back into comics and has recommended me so many amazing titles and runs of characters (marvel and dc alike)

I may pick up the humble Bundle they have running with the Boys digital volumes…this series really goes in on bastardizing common superhero tropes.

The absolutely do. It’s really great. Invincible does the same thing but in a much more grounded, humorous and less fucked up way.

That’s another series I recommend reading and can’t wait for the animated adaptation of.

Hulu developing a Hitchikers Guide series

I only have time to watch a single episode before work but I’m about to dive into The Boys. :crossed_fingers:

In the middle of episode 2 of the Boys… so far so good. The heroes are psychotic assholes it like the hellfire club…

If it even remotely stays true to the comic’s it gets much much worse. I can already tell they’ve switched some of the characters around but the events have more-or-less stayed the same.

Edit: First episode is solid. Still not sure how to feel about Urban as Billy Butcher yet.

His accent forgivable… i heard that this adaptation stays closer to the original comics. The guy that got his gf killed was supposed to be played by simon pegg

It’s not his accent that’s my issue. It’s just he really doesn’t feel like Billy Butcher yet.

Man. They’re blazing through The Boys just in the first season. Makes me wonder how long this series is even going to be.

I don’t know if I can really get behind this adaptation of the boys. I finished it this morning and while it’s fine and I did enjoy it. They’ve omitted so many things that made all the characters so unique, a lot of key characters and they’ve changed way too many of the events.

Like…I wasn’t expecting a panel by panel adaptation. Anyone who expects that with any adaptation is just silly and asking to be disappointed. There were a lot of little things they changed or rearranged that I didn’t mind. However, in the grand scheme of things there are a lot of missteps and missed opportunities. The last 2-3 episodes just went completely off the rails in terms of the core story of The Boys

I havnt read any of the boys comics but liked this series… cant wait for season 2.

You should. It’s phenomenal. The Prime series is basically a PG version of the comic. I think one of the main things that bother about this adaptation aside from the last few episodes is they heavily downplay how Compound V is impacting the world.

1st episode in The Boys & they already trippin balls. The Seven gotta go ASAP

One of the funniest things I saw in this adaptation was something extremely subtle since it was a set piece during a scene and not the focal point.

Summary

The Deep who is a supposed environmentalist in this adaptation drives a Hummer. Lol

Straight fraud. I hope his death is long and brutal :joy:
