SFV solved that “problem” by letting you pick whether or not you want to face players from specific platforms, so that’s a non-issue.
That tweet was literally “as for crossplay: cba lol, and I can’t be bothered making a proper excuse for it either. Back to the coke bucket~~”
To say that cheaters mainly exist on one platform is a generalization. There a probably a small group of cheaters on PC, but who’s to say there isn’t on PS4 or Xbone or whatever?
Or it’s probably Sony’s fault and considering the close relationship between the two, Bamco doesn’t want to throw Sony under the bus for not approving crossplay yet, so Harada uses the “PC has cheaters” excuse not to blame Sony. Who knows?
Even if cheaters were a thing on consoles as well it’s more common and easier to abuse on PC. If you can prevent it from causing issues with your console fanbase by not having cross-play then why not? It’s not like Tekken is a series that requires cross-play to begin with anyway. You can still find matches on Tekken Revolution and Tekken Tag 2.
I imagine it could just be Bamco taking a look at Capcoms situation and wanting no part of that in the Tekken community. The line of thinking could be that any issues that people up as a result of the PC community can stay isolated there.
But is online cheating really a massive issue when it comes to fighters? Especially on PC? I haven’t really seen anything that PC players exclusively have to screw over the console players, except maybe the alt-tabbing thingy in SFV, but couldn’t crossplay issues be remedied by having an option for players to choose if they want crossplay or not when searching for matches?
I personally would prefer having crossplay, because I don’t feel like buying 3 of the same games to play with different groups of people, as well as paying for an online subscription.
LOL why would u need 2 buy all 3. People have been playing fighting games on a single console for years just fine.
I agree with NeloVergil. Cheating has always been easier on PC so it makes sense in that regard. Personally I don’t care if we don’t have crossplay. It’s never been a big issue b4 and it still isn’t now
I just have a different groups of people I like to play with on different consoles. Can’t blame me for them not wanting to be on a single console lol
And cheating is probably easier on PC, but that doesn’t make PC the only system where people can cheat on. Tekken Revolution was on PS3 and that was plagued with cheaters at some point and not to mention stuff like Tool Assisted and other bots on PS4.
I’d still prefer if crossplay was available but If not, I still look forward to enjoying the game anyways.
Having crossplay is objectively better than not having it. You greatly enhance both platforms playerbase and competition.
If they don’t do it it’s because they don’t care enough to invest on that, cheating on PC being a real issue with fighting games is Harada being dumb as usual.
Whether the tweet is mistranslated or not, people still have fears that a certain side is able to cheat over another side. Again, couldn’t that just be fixed by being able to choose if you want crossplay or not when searching for matches?
Honestly, I’m still more inclined to believe the reason that crossplay hasn’t been confirmed yet is because Sony hasn’t made a decision and Bamco don’t want to blame them for that.
Again, would very much prefer it to have crossplay, but I wouldn’t be all “FUCK T7 hurr durr” if crossplay wasn’t there.
Would be extremely disappointed otherwise if there wasn’t any crossplay.
The pool of cheaters is quite small, depending on population of a game, and even then, depends entirely on how easy it IS to do any sort of match-inducing hacks.
Point is, better to go forward balls-to-the-wall with crossplay so more developers can get used to it than to shut out the option entirely due to shitty generalizations.
Besides, if that tweet IS true, Harada’s talking out the ass, considering the amount of cheating has been recorded from Tekken Revolution.
…And that wasn’t a PC game.
I thought Harada said it was the perception of everyone cheating in PC gaming as being one of the main reasons, form another translation. Dude is a PC gaming enthusiast and likes making custom builds, which I believe is rare in Japan. . As cool as these directors are they still have people higher up to answer to.
Harada threw a stone into PC garden because he and Sony suck each other’s dicks. I don’t think it would fare well for Tekken 7 if Harada straight-up blamed Sony for low chances of crossplay, because Sony doesn’t want to do crossconsole multiplayer with Microsoft
Again it could also not be Harada. It could just be Bamco, and they do have prior experience to pull on for PC. So, if they decided that their IP won’t be cross-platform then that’s that. Also, again it helps that Tekken doesn’t really need to be cross-platform to begin with. It’d be nice, but it’s not necessary and unless Bamco believes it’s worth it then they’ll most likely just give PC players a game whose dick they’ll suck anyway.
Being on both console and PC I can say that Console has many rage quitters, lag switchers and rank boosters, which is in fact cheating. PC also has cheaters, but online gaming on console or PC is going to have cheaters regardless. It is probably the fact that Sony wont allow it more than the “cheaters” if anything.
