Mm kay. So basically after the (albeit laughably convoluted) events of Tekken 6, Heihachi gains control of the Mishima Zaibatsu after Jin Kazama’s angry ass went missing. The entire world is at stake because of the ongoing feud between the Mishima Zaibatsu, the G Corp (that which Kazuya basically controls), and several other governmental forces. Heihachi (arbitrarily) starts another King of Iron Fist Tournament for this title in order to lure Kazuya and other potential threats towards his direction to confront them directly (no, really). The individuals who win the said tournament will be able to… eh… “Control the Fate of the World.”
Ha… ha… ha… LOOOL This is the best way I can describe this. Granted, there are so many possible ways to solve a lot of these little issues in this lore but hey. Fighting games. Most individuals who play fighting games on a competitive basis don’t really give a rats ass about the story and are more concerned with simply playing their favorite characters or going to locals or majors for this particular fighting game.
I am still morbidly curious as to what may transgress.

I’m still waiting for Julia Chang. If Michelle somehow makes it (which I am 99.9% sure she won’t) I’ll be the happiest man in the world. But, I will be easily satisfied with Julia.
So you want a game that’s incomplete like Street Fighter V is? I wouldn’t. Namco’s not going to be dumb enough to take the risk that Capcom just took & risk losing a lot of sales just to please impatient people like you.
Other companies like Arc System Works & SNK are doing it right with Guilty Gear Xrd -Revelator- & KOF XIV, in which everything is fully complete on the disk & in which most characters along with a lot of content will be playable on day one.
Arc sys has had dlc before
I don’t wanna hear that lmfao
And kof has had dlc
My point is that if your gonna push the game back everytime for a new character well be waiting till 2050
Meanwhile the other side of the world gets to play the game on a whim
The street fighter joke was obvious idk how you can miss that
My point is that there needs to be a happy medium where the game comes to the states and not get pushed back again and again because of one char or costume
Nah, just means they’re gonna chicken the fuck out and not go for a KILL EM ALL ending that I rather wish it to be.
Honestly if they’re going that route, they may as well borrow the concept of how MKX did the story mode and just have you run through at least a few characters per CHAPTER until the very bitter, bloody end.
But many times writers and game devs aren’t that audacious to attempt such. Tsk.
Not in the same way that Capcom has done with SF V, so that’s invalid. Plus every fighter last gen (as well as with this gen) has had DLC as well, so I don’t know why you’re pointing that out.
Then I guess you missed what happened with both Tekken 6 & Tekken Tag Tournament 2 in which they had came out with two different versions for the Arcades while only using the latest version for the console versions? Doesn’t mean that they should automatically rush this game out of the door just for the sake of pleasing impatient individuals.
Impatience has nothing to do with it. This game has been long overdue for a release for years now.
I’d take it in the broken ass state SFV was in when it first released, at least I got to play SFV while they fixed its issues. And as far as we’ve seen, Tekken 7 does’t even have any technical issues. There’s literally no reason not to release it at this point.
Theres plenty of incentive not to release it right away. One of the main reasons is money, of which they’re making plenty of right now without a release. That aside the game isn’t done. It just seems that way since it’s been out in arcades for so long. There’s still balancing they’ll end up doing until all the characters get revealed (because this isn’t the complete roster) and whatever character by character/stsge by stage bugs they need to squash.
Just because you’d accpect a halg assed product (not a knock on SFV) doesn’t mean the consumers/company will. Also, T7 doesn’t have the same name pull as a MKX or SFV to be pulling these sorts of negative PR moves. If the characters on the backend aren’t ready; thr story mode isn’t done; features that would help the game sell just aren’t done then there is a reason for them not to want to release it.
Sure, alot of people would enjoy playing a fighting game where all they do is fight online and fuck everything else. However, that shit doesn’t fly once you need to appeal to a nonarcade mindset as mich as you’d think and word travels fast. If there isn’t much to do in T7 not called training or online then there’s a pretty good chance this shit will bomb.
Sure this isn’t the optimal way for Bamco to do it, but it gets results. If a quality game is still being released and the there’s very little in the way of technical problems then they’ve proven their point. Taking time to make sure that everything needed to sell the game to casual/hardcore Tekken fans on consoles is up to snuff is fucking great thing. Especially if it releases in a timely manner (once a date is announced) with no delays.
TL:DR niggas need to calm down with the word literally.
Xrd -Revelator- is a new disc for what’s basically an update to Xrd -Sign-, bringing in stuff that could have simply been added via DLC for less.
The other thing, supporting a game costs money, and that’s just for stuff like patches and fixes, before we get into additional content and actually providing money to the competitive scene.
If you want support for a game, then it has to be a business proposition that’ll eventually help the company make money. Namco gets away with less for their previous Tekken games simply because support acted as marketing for their arcade release (of which, Namco gets a cut of every credit you put in).
Wasn’t Tekken 6 released on consoles 2 years after the initial release in Arcades? Also didn’t the updated version of T6 (Bloodline Rebellion) come out a year after Vanilla T6 for arcades too?
I’m gonna guess that it’s the same dealio with Tekken 7.
Um, Relevator is not an Update to Xrd -Sign-, that’s like saying DOA5 ultimate is an update…Last Round is an Update, Ultimate is an expansion and Revelator is that expansion to Xrd -Sign-
But even then, it’s still not the best idea to bring in Tekken 7 early like SF5 because as he stated, Tekken does not have the same name power nor the fanbase that would tolerate such a thing…ESPECIALLY the Tekken fanbase.
NeloVergil & Xhominid are right. This is something that Namco can’t afford to do, nor can they get away with.
Yep.
The Arcade version of the original version of Tekken 6 was first released on November of 2007 in Japan.
The Arcade version of it’s upgrade, “Bloodline Rebellion,” was first released on December of 2008 in Japan.
Console version of Tekken 6 was first released on October of 2009 & was based off of Bloodline Rebellion.
Same with Tekken Tag Tournament 2 in which the original version was first released in Arcades on September of 2011 in Japan, followed by it’s upgrade being “Tekken Tag Tournament 2 Unlimited” first released in the Arcades on March of 2012 in Japan.
The console version of it was based off of Unlimited & was first released on September of 2012.
Now, we have the original version of Tekken 7, in which was first released in Arcades on February of 2015 in Japan, & we also now have it’s upgrade being “Fated Retribution” in which it’ll be officially released in Japanese Arcades on July of this year. The console version will most likely be based from FR.
I wonder why does Namco not use the subtitle naming convention for the console releases?
Like you said, t6 went like:
Tekken 6 (vanilla, arcade) - Tekken 6: bloodline Rebellion (arcade) - Tekken 6 (console)
Would the consumer not be confused by gearing about Bloodline Rebellion, then finding out the game is just called “Tekken 6” and think that the console release got an outdated version?
