Man every new character design so far has been fucking terrible I havent seen one fuckin ounce of real interest and thought put into this. Then again this is the first tekken that has been ANNOUNCED and then RELEASED in less than a year and thats telling since things obviously looked rushed and recycled at the first lokitest.
Blah. Im hella dissappointed at this point.
I just want a good Soul Calibur. Namco used to could do no wrong I dont know what the fuck is going on.
Zafina, Miguel and Drag were such good character designs, Tekken 6 wasnt that long agoâŚ
But most of her personality revolves around determination toward meeting her goals (ex. Avenging her father, taking down Shadaloo) and focusing on bettering her martial art skills. Sheâs most of the time a serious person and every now and then she has her girl moments which is completely acceptable imo. I thought Xiaoyu was like this in T3. It felt like she was mostly focused on her matrial arts but this wasnât the case in T4 and onward.
Exactly how I feel. The character is sloppy. This started with Tekken DR. ever since that game every new character in a namco fighting game has had weird Japanese mannerisms that appeal to a weird kind of fan.
I dunno, I spend a lot of time in Game centers and I know the exact fanbasw theyâre shooting for. The design is still lazy. Like 90s comic book characters. Letâs take as many cool things as possible and throw them into one design. I like the simplicity of Paul and Bruce and even Ling.
Anyway, the Chloe character design is weak, but the real problem is the mannerism are obnoxious. Her, Lars, LILi and even bob all fight like Power Rangers. This is a problem in Tekken thatâs not going away it looks like.
Whatever. Harada is free to make any game he wants. I wish him the best. I probably wonât play it. I think after two decades Iâve finally outgrown the game.

Yeah I feel the exact way. And I mean Namco fighters were my main games. My first tournaments were Namco tournaments. I didnt start playing 2d games til I bought my first fightstick with Street FIghter 4.
Quitting games because of character design? Is this how weak the FGC has become?

I will say though as someone who has a way heavier Tekken than SF background who likes the new rage arts and power crush and likes chloe I keep looking for a reason to play this game it looks like another iteration of t5dr tekken with some system tweaks and somewhat updated graphics each time I think about games im getting next year I damn near tell myself I WONT get t7
All the spacing,mixups and frame traps mean nothing if the pixels make your eyes bleed.
I donât have a duty to namco or the FGC to play something that looks retarded. Maybe it will appeal others.
Maybe the console version will sell to enough 12 year old scrubs and 32 year old closet pedos itâs first week to make a profit for namco.

One character is not necessarily going to make any game look bad or âretarded.â If that were true then nobody would play any sort of fighting game, all because they can not deal with one little aspect that they might not like within whatever game they play.
All of the games I play may have characterâs or possible game play elements that even I donât favor⌠but thatâs not really going to stop me from playing it because there may be something else that I like about the game or possibly just the intrinsic value of playing it. A game like SFIV for example has several elements or even characterâs that players may not like or find appealing⌠but they play it anyway for some reason or another. I am not entirely sure what big deal really is.
On another note, Lucky Chloe⌠this one character is really bringing the animal out in some people. I mean, folks are actually getting pissed!
Great_Dark_Hero nailed it on the head there! It sounds really stupid when people are in such a tiff over 1 specific character that they plan to boycott a new game to a series they love. If I reacted the same way people have about characters Iâd have never played Street Fighter IV because I REALLY do not like Rufus. Everything about the character urkes me, but I still play SFIV and watch it at a high level. Does my blood boil when I see Rufus being played? No. That would be childish. Me disliking a character does not drag me down to that level that seems to have been brought out of alot of Tekken âfansâ with recent events.
But hey! Itâs their call at the end of the day. If they wish to not play anymore for whatever factor then thatâs their loss I guess.

Canât say I love how Tekken 7 looks so far, but until I play it for myself itâs all just words. And the new designs have no effect on my desire to give it a chance.
Interesting bit of news. The team is testing a feature where, at least on head to head cabs (separate screens) both players will appear to be on the 1P side.

Allows players to practice on the side they want. If there is any side specific tech (which Tekken has) both players can take advantage of it.
Donât Mishima players favor one side as itâs easier for their inputs? This would make it so they always start on the side they choose. How itâd work mid match Iâd like to see but itâs interesting that theyâre trying out new things to test the waters so to speak.
Quitting Tekken over character design is beyond stupid. You can customize the characters look in the game! Change their look if you hate their default design so much.
Person âquittingâ a game over a design of a SINGLE character they donât like never played that game series anyways.
