TEKKEN 7 | Lounge

The files for Tekken Tunes are in the game, there was a link to download a small mod to activate it.
If it isn’t on Zetabords or Streetmodders, it’s somewhere in the Guide section on Steam.

It’s a bit sad that the music in this game is so extremly hit or miss, I love Stages like Devil Pit or Mishima Dojo.
I currently love half of the music and hate the other half, so I suppose it’s balanced.

Matchup knowledge is such a big thing in Tekken.
Destroyed a Leo yesterday just because I knew what’s safe and what’s not and what to low parry.
You can completely nullify somebody’s game plan through knowledge.

Even after going through Hwoarang’s move list I’m still like: ???, though.

Bolded: his actual amount of good lows is not a huge deal when his one good low is fucking amazing (SS4).

That being said, on lower levels matchup inexperience is a fairly huge deal. So characters with bad / gimmicky strings and high-risk high-reward moves tend to do well early on, since you can get far on just exploiting the fact that your opponent doesn’t understand how to deal with (not to mention punish) whatever you just threw out. It’s a double edged sword though, as relying on gimmicks will get you instantly killed if your opponent knows how to deal with it and you don’t have the fundamentals to fall back on.

Running 2 is hard 2 deal with and Drag does have a lot of tools but so do a lot of characters, Feng, Bryan, Leo etc… I don’t think he is so gd that he needs 2 be nerfed. It doesn’t really matter tho cause Namco doesn’t balance patch games after release unless it’s to get rid of infinites and the like.

This is different with Tekken 7 and already confirmed by Harada.
Their idea of support after release includes balance changes this time around.

Before T7 they didn’t really do season passes and with the unexpected success of T7 they’ll probably be even more behind supporting the game both on a competitive and casual level.

I still don’t think they will do it much. The whole point in releasing the game in the arcades first was for this purpose. I’m happy the game is doing well but I just hope they don’t start patching shit just cause of whining scrubs complaining who don’t know anything about the game

Harada said they’re basing their balance changes on statistical evidence, whatever that means.
Could be both good and bad depending on where they derive the statistics from and if they use common sense to go along with that.

I just hope they won’t consider the winrates of each character online when they do a balance patch. Because I could imagine characters like Lucky Chloe have a decent win rate online but barely see the light of day in stacked tournaments.

I need to get the PC version, so I can play as kid Kazuya
dope

I think I’m gonna play jack. The more I play the more I know I can’t shake some vf habits and I NEED to throw and throws suck in tekken. Jack at least has A) decent throws and B ) more importantly can make use of all 3 throw breaks so it’s less easy to shut down.

So that shit and I heard he’s Mr fundamentals which is what I’m all about.

Edit

Very few people can even use all 3 throw breaks, king dragonuv jack and ???

Paul can. Nina probably, too.
Basically everyone who uses some form of grappling/cqc fighting style, I guess.

Dunno about the bears. They used to be shittier Jacks in Tekken 2 and 3. Wouldn’t be surprised if they got decent command grabs as well.

So in treasure battle you get 1 extra chest for “GREAT” rounds and “PERFECT” rounds
anyone want to play on PC?

Depends on where you’re from.

I think I should probably switch out of king and try to learn the game with a beginner character to maybe facilitate this process. Im looking and jack and kazumi…not sure which one to go for…

King isn’t a hard character to start with but every King player I come across can do all his chain grabs but nothing else lol. Just don’t focus on the grabs and actually learn the character and you should b fine

jack
easier faster longer low pokes
easier combos
better damage
longer pokes
multiple high damage throw options

US

This is really crazy…
40 treasure battles in a row and all chests have been gold
wtf harada

Jin has excellent throws

Which is one is better to learn the fundamentals though? I mean, if king is a begginner friendly character I’ll just stick o him but mosts guides I’ve watched seem to point at him being intermediate.

Of the 3 you named
Jack is the easiest fundamentally
King is more advanced than those 2
Id say if you like kind then power through it since you’re already invested
But if you feel like you aren’t getting the results you want then taking a minor break and trying out another character might be good too
You might learn or understand differentl things about the game that you couldn’t with king
You can always come back to king later

@“Evil Canadian” The reason PC is considered better is because of less input lag if you turn VSync off, the rest are just bonuses (e.g. faster loading times, mods, less online lag etc.). I will probably be hopping on to PC version coming week as well.

Are people who are saying in-match frame-data is cheating even serious? Perfect block punishing for the moves you KNOW frame-data is hard enough, there is no way you can arbitrarily read -14 after blocking a move and do a JU in time. You will see top level players doing 10f punishes for -12 or more moves all the time and these people have good enough reactions to duck non-jailing strings consistently and launch them. What was the last time anyone saw hopkicks getting 13f punished consistently if at all? There is no way a random Tekken player online can use it in real-time. If you still don’t believe me, I’ll pick a character you don’t know and feel free to use the mod to punish moves accordingly, good luck.

I think people SHOULD use it in matches, save replays and look back at the free punishment and other opportunities they missed (or where they should and should not press buttons). It will save you hours of finding what all those random moves were and then finding out punishes for each of them one by one. It is a great feature and VF actually had it about a decade ago, which was nothing short of amazing. Too bad Namco dropped the ball with barebone T7 console version, there are no replays options at all much less any extras.

Whoever asked about Asuka, I am not fully comfortable with the match-up myself but:
[] Her 10f punishment is only a single jab, not much risk if you do -10/-11 moves. She has a great punisher for -12, however.
[
] Keep out of f4 range and step right, play on 1P side if possible.
[] Break 1+2 throw if she does a throw from crouch or f2/WS1+2 cancel
[
] Learn to buffer chickens if Asuka you are playing is reversal happy
[] Her db4 series (where she does spinning low kicks into a high launcher) can be low parried even on hit
[
] Low jab (or d4 or whatever) her 1+4,24_d4 “mixup” after 1+4
[] Duck and launch second hit of her WS14 if not being correctly used as a punisher
[
] Don’t press buttons after getting hit by db3, all your short range and fast buttons will whiff and she will f2 you
[] Don’t rush her down or do so carefully, she has a lot of good panic buttons, keepout and CH launchers (i.e. cancans, b3, ss2, reversals, jabs strings, weak i11 magic 4 etc. etc.)
[
] Her f3 and 123 is almost neutral, after spins it’s +6 so better not press buttons on block since a traditional flowchart is to do cancans on block. After 3 spins it becomes an unblockable (mid in T7), you can step all of these options to both sides (SSL is still easier imo). You can also interrupt her at neutral, but she can cancel the spins at any point. You can SSL unblockable even after you see the spark, depending on the oki situation it may or not not be steppable after techroll.
[] She has an unbreakable throw that does no damage, but gives her +8 or so for a free mixup. Usual 50/50 is d1+2/another low or 1+2.
[
] At wall her d1+2 becomes a lot more viable and gives free f2 into further oki
[] Her FC df2 (low handswipe) is 0 on hit, many Asuka’s do another one after the first hoping for a CH which guarantees huge amount of damage. Don’t do highs after getting hit by it, but she can also do ws4 to interrupt any of the mids or simply step or block.
[
] Her ss2 evades a lot of stuff like Bob’s ss1+2, completely safe and wall splats, so watch out for it near walls when pressuring her or when you are trying to fight back with wall at your back.
Might be missing some stuff, but these are the basics you should look out for. She has decent WS punishment now, but still can’t fully launch lows below -19. If you have a really good low below that, you can use it more against her than characters with WS launchers. Both her WS punishers (WS21 and WS14) are mid high and can be ducked if not used properly.

@evilj Nice share man, I remember his Nina from T4 days. Shame he stopped playing her after T4 and still sticking with Jack since T5.0. I saw his PSN on leaderboards and was wondering if he’s really back. He played all Tekkens for a first month or two and then dropped altogether, hope he sticks with the game if he has time and likes it enough. Keep up the good work!
