Paul forum on Tekken Zaibatsu is pretty active, even though I donât agree with some bread and butter combo choices in that WIP Paul bible.
Dude puts in df+2, qcb+4 which is a super tight link which I havenât seen good Paul players do yet.
When you make a combo list you should have max damage in it and easy confirms for people starting out.
While I do agree that deathfist does a bit too much damage itâs punishable as long as u know how. Hell Mishimas, Asuka and a few others can launch punish that shit.
I felt like itâs mostly safe due to pushback unless you space it crappy or are up against Jack and a handful other characters.
Then again, Iâm terrible and lots of people online are even worse, so most people probably donât know the proper punish.
lol EWGF is the only way you are gonna get any decent damage with kazuya yeah he can be played without it but you are putting yourself at a severe handicap he has one type of every poke but the EWGF is what ties it all together
without it hes mid to low tier
mishimas can dash electric deathfist or ff+2 with kazuya i think
nina gets reverse ivory cutter and thats the extent of how i know to punish it
I know Kazuya needs the EWGF since it makes up his offense and pressure and well as damage. What Iâm saying is that itâs common to see combos start start with EWGF and next couple attacks are EWGF.
yeah i could see that being dumb
its probably based on the assumption that if you are picking him then probably you would learn it
hes barebones but you right there are easier combos then that
Just watched a good Kazuya at CEO, and guess what, after the EWGF launcher he doesnât use another one inside the combo.
Paul guide is the same in that no Paul Iâve watched so far goes into that super hard link they got in their combo list, just because 6 damage are not worth the risk of dropping the whole combo.
I mean itâs good to have in their so you have a max damage combo, but unless you want to style on somebody, youâre probably better off taking the easy confirm.
Top Kazuyas go for multi-EWGF-combos to style, and rarely otherwise. EWGF > 3, 2, 4 > d/f1,4 t! > dash > d/f1,4 works fine and does roughly the same damage for a fraction of the effort. Guys like Choksae and Knee rarely go for the difficult stuff, though they do opt for corner carry variants if they have the option.
Dunno if Kaz f,f2 actually punishes deathfist. It should punish it if weâre looking at the frame data, but I tested it in training mode and couldnât get it to work even once, and videos Iâve seen where top Kaz players play the MU doesnât feature f,f2 punishing deathfists. Itâs really weird.
f,f2 is still good against Paul though, cause it punishes demoman.
Also, switching to pad fucked up my EWGF execution in the short term, but since movement is so much easier for me on pad I actually feel my Kaz is better off âwithoutâ EWGF but with solid movement options, than vice versa. Means I can also focus on using his other options well too. But with that being said, EWGF knocks Kazuya up at least two tiers compare to where he would be. He relies on it far more than the other Mishimas since his poking game is so poor. Heihachi and DJ can compensate by using other tools.
Wall carry into guaranteed damage is always preferred over juggle stylings. JDCR, knee, saint, etc pros like them are so gdlk because of this mindset. Itâs so frustrating to drop a combo or juggle in a heated match just because you were feeling yourself and tried to style on your opponent. Even worse when you play online.
Iâm so sad that now that I learned ultimate punishment on a tackle, that I realized itâs usually a better idea to directly go to the armbar or hit them in the face with 1, because most people mash 1 like no tomorrow and that breaks ultimate punishment.
Not to mention thereâs 2 break points before that with one putting yourself on the back.
Ok questionâŚat super low levels(treat me like I know nothing) how do you do shit likeâŚpunish? Like I keep running into people just mashing 1 and I have absolutely no idea what do. Getting hit no matter what I press.
Then I ran into an akuma that kept knocking me down then running and grabbing me. I canât tech the throwâŚ? Literally just kept looping it over and over, have no idea what to do.
Edit: also how do you properly recover? Not sure what to do when I get knocked down simply die from one giant string. I know about pressing a button as soon as you hit the floor, but even then I donât know how the hell to get back up.
