I know you don’t want to deal with online but it really is the way to go if you want more bang for you buck. I don’t have any first hand experience with this stick but one of my friends has it and he prefers to play on his PS3 pad than that junk.
I really do understand where you’re coming from but I’ve personally had 2 bad experiences with ordering online and I’d rather not risk going through it again. I’ve seen some pretty amazing deals for TE’s but I’m old fashioned at heart and despise shipping around the US for a good deal.
As for the PS3 comment… I don’t own a PS3 and don’t plan on owning one. There really isn’t any PS3 only games that are enticing enough for me to pay 300 bucks for one. All the good games for PS3 are multiplatform and I’ve actually tried playing SSFIV over PS3 with a wired connection but the stability just isn’t there when compared to XBL mainly because PS3 has built wifi and people are cheap bastards so they’d rather complain about laggy gameplay than use a ethernet chord. Plus, there isn’t enough ppl who play over PS3 consistantly.
If I didn’t say it before, I’ll say it now.
I play on 360 not PS3 so any PS3 only hardware complaints like the rare on occasion de-syncing dongle, doesn’t really effect my possible future purchase.
Well, I’m a big supporter of the T6 actually, but it all comes down to personal preference for you. If you’re lazy sometimes and just want to kickback and play with a light portable wireless controller, and can find this locally for a cheap price, this is a great choice. (i got mine at $50 with the game and artbook, You might be able to score one for lower). If you see my posts on the T6 thread you’ll know that I actually prefer this over all my other sticks (i have 10 now, lol), but mostly because its portability. There’s some easy mods that you can do to make it perform just as nice as the other sticks.
Overall depends on your needs. If you’re lazy and don’t wanna be bothered with plugging in half the time, just camp out/negotiate one of these for about 50 bucks & do quick mods to the joystick, and do button upgrades when you get the chance. Or if you prefer to have something heavier/solid/sturdy with top notch parts, save and get the TE. The other option is if you get lucky and find a nice 360 SE locally for $40 or so (That’s the most i’d pay. I got my PS3 SE for $25 - but I’m going to do a dual mod on it). Hope that helps
Well, even though I could haggle around, I don’t mind paying 60 for T6, the art book, and the stick since I can find it in my location easier than when compared to any madcatz stick. You can’t find a SE stick for your life out here in Vegas at any retailer. I know, you may think since evo is hosted every year here that sticks wouldn’t be a problem. It really couldn’t be any more wrong.
There are probably people out here willing to sell their SE’s but the odds of them either giving their address to someone they don’t know or just meeting up somewhere are slim.
At any rate, I’ve actually went to game_over_ (local store) to see if they had a T6 stick just to see how it feels and I ran into a player playing ssfiv in the lounge there so I got to play around with it to get a better feel for it.
I confirmed a couple things with the controller and In my exp, I’ve concluded that people played the TE and SE sticks so much that they grade it as such when in reality they’re entirely different sticks. You can, in all fairness, only compare a hori to another hori.
But since the co-owner Brian was there, I also used the HRAP3, hori ex2, sfiv SE and TE from his personal collection of sticks.
When comparing the T6 stick to the ex2, the T6 was a more natural feel in terms of comfort. The buttons are relativly the same but the joystick on the ex2 felt more stiff. The weight off both sticks are about the same but I like the extra room that is offered on the t6 and the 2 extra buttons are a nice addition.
Out of the 2, I gave it to the T6 because of the natural comfort and because everything about it seems to be an expansion of the ex2
next, I compared the T6 and the SE
right off the bat, the SE feels sturdier and heavier. It’s obviously built to last and the parts are all madcatz parts (so Im told). The buttons are responsive but The t6 is just as responsive. So, to test the grade quality of the buttons overall, I decided to see how sensitive they were. Very lightly pressing down, both sticks respond. As I previously thought, there isn’t much difference with the only difference being that the noises made by both sticks. T6 feels kinda hollow while the SE feels nicely snug. So, for the buttons, im giving it to the SE. Lastly, there’s the joystick. They both respond very well but I feel as though the SE felt more durable. In the end, I thought of the SE to be the better stick mainly because its built to last while the t6 looks to only last several months.
Seeing as the TE is superior to the SE, it’s only natural for it to be better than the t6 in every way. I still tested them but the TE kicks the T6’s ass in every category.
Lastly, the HRAP3 vs t6. The HRAP has more weight to it, and a bigger surface. It’s also easier to mod with wired insides vs pcb. Buttons on the HRAP feel slightly better but the joystick difference between the two are worlds apart. HRAP is on par with the TE but end the emd, I still think the TE is superior to the HRAP3 because I feel it’s built to do work. I could throw a TE and im sure it’ll still work but it feels as though I cant say that about the HRAP( not that its not durable).
My final grade for the T6 after about 1and a half hrs on it would be a 7.50/10
ex2 7/10
SE 8/10
HRAP3 8.75/10
TE. 9.50/10
the reviews made the T6 seem worse than it actually is but I can’t say the T6 is made to last and with modding, it’d be a 8.7 at best only because the lack of weight and materials used to make the body IMHO.
I don’t think the T6 stick is that awful. I have happs, namcos, TE’s, SE’s, everything, and I still play on the T6 from time to time.
I am a big fan of the shape and weight of the stick. Also, the dongle-less 360 wireless is great.
I do only play on it rarely, and if it was getting a great deal of use I’m sure it would degrade quickly. Also, one drop and it would be in thirty pieces.
It is a terrible stick if it is your only one, but it is a nice addition to a collection.
