Not just NA, also Japan
Out of curiosity, what system mechanic in Tekken 6 is “scrubby?”
Im calling bullshit.
Man SRK is getting trolled like a motherfucker lately. Damn!
SF4. Learn to read.
There is like no scene for VF5, hence it being in the trinity of games everyone loves but doesn’t play. Of the gatherings I’ve been to, I have seen that game played twice and both times were at Otacon with like two-three people playing.
Psyduck at bolded.
Well see thats the thing…the game didnd’t sell shit in Japan (like most non-handheld games). It sold a lot more over here. Was there a press release for 500k, or are you just pulling that number out of nowhere?
I wasn’t accusing you specifically of nerd rage resonate, but communities in general. Seems like Tekken and Street Fighter players are always trying to find new ways to down talk each other, like they need to justify having learned one game instead of the other, or that ‘their’ game is more intellectual or demanding and thus they are smarter.
Having been a part of both communities in town and played both extensively, they both have their technicalities and difficulties to master.
And I don’t even have to say how much smash gets discredited. Maybe they’re traditionalists who can’t fathom a system that doesn’t involve static health meters. Or maybe people fond of judging books by covers since it has goofy shit like nintendo characters and no serious story. I don’t play smash anymore, and even I can see that on the surface it looks like a stupid scrub/casual party game, but it has its shares of complexities and competition worthy aspects as well.
Anyways, cool story, me.
Or maybe its because Smash is not a fighting game, all of its ‘complexities’ come from programming error and on top of that the community is trash?
lulz
Well, thanks for putting the “I’m a scrub, ignore me” disclaimer in the first phrase.
Programming errors made two games in a row, that’s rich.
It’s a good thing all of street fighter and tekken’s core aspects were always intentional. The developers completely meant for you to originally cancel moves and juggle people for full life.
Say what you will about the community, some of those fucks are completely sketch. And of course, making broad generalizations about people is always considered a good thing.
I think you missed the point that Sakurai wasn’t trying to make Melee a competitive game to begin with.
Fair enough, although I wouldn’t use that to discredit it.
I don’t think the developers, making the original Street Fighter II thought that people would work so indepth at it and build a tournament scene around that.
I don’t care if anyone dislikes Smash, I can understand that. But I can’t understand why people are so eager to belittle a video game or put the fighting game genre on such a pedestal. I consider both Gran Turismo and Need for Speed racing games, even though their methods and goals are a little different. You pick characters and fight each other, if you can’t classify that as a fighting game, I really don’t know what’s wrong with someone. Probably the same people who need to subclassify metal into 200 different genres.
The only difference is, Capcom continued making revisions trying to balance game, adding features and tweaks after the game caught on with people that took it farther than they may have intended. Capcom even had its own brand of “olympics” in Japan for its fighting games! They continued to make fighting games, labeled them as such and made no effort, for the most part, to discourage those that held a tournament scene around them.
Whereas the creator of Smash saw what happened to the game and what it had to become and purposely made it so that what happened in Melee couldn’t be done in brawl (lol tripping). The tournament players remove a large majority of stages, items and even try to ban various characters. No real fighting game has ever needed that amount of removal and altering. Not belittling anything, its not a fighting game; and the large majority of people on this site with agree with that.
What’s with all the god-awful troll threads in the last two weeks?
Only, like, one or two of them were ever good.
and now the op leaves because you guys make jackasses out of yourselves without his comments :shake:
Nazis, nihilists, are we splitting hairs here?
Anyways, those are some valid points, although it’s still a fighting game.
I think Street Fighter IV is to III what Brawl was to Melee. An attempt to make it a bit more noob/casual friendly, I don’t think anyone would disagree III was more technical. Anyways, I fail to see how it is not a fighting game. Poorly made, opinion. But still a fighting game. I really can’t see any valid argument against that.
OH LAWDY
I have to admit, this one is so ridiculous I got a chuckle out of it rather than just sighing.
sounds like somebody is just a dumbass and is too much of a pussy to learn how to play.
