Man, you missed out yesterday if you wanted to battle at HDR. You still play? Planning to go to the Fuddrucker’s tourney next week?
As for Tekken, are the Tekken Zaibatsu forums better for networking?

from what i understand, the hdr gathering was somewhere in concord or outside of 415/650 area. tekken zaibatsu, most of the people who post on there live near svgl/milpitas (the 1’s worth playing at least). the 1’s i know of that live around here, i battle already but that’s only maybe 4 - 5 different people. the rest that i see that post, they don’t want to battle, or for some reason would prefer to battle at sfsu, but i’d rather not spend money when we can battle on console for free.
besides, gatherings are fine, but unless you are constantly winning, if there is anymore than 4 or 5 people, you’ll be waiting for your turn a majority of the time and just watching. what’s the point if you could just watch youtube vids? it’s different i guess if there’s more than 1 setup running. i think 1 time i went to a gathering thinking it would be a hdr setup, but when i got there it quickly changed to sf4 only on 1 setup. it was a waste of time for me to be honest
Gosh, you’re so picky. Just don’t lose at gatherings and you don’t have to wait. Isn’t that better then no competition? And if you want to improve, go to tournaments or arcades/gatherings. You’ll learn much faster then playing 1 on 1.
bump. these games are part of evo as far as i know. are people holding off on practice for these games or maybe none from norcal plan to enter them? if you have ps3 add me, let’s battle because obviously, offline play is out of the question for you. 650 or 415 please
There are other aspects to holding local gatherings besides simply winning.
First off, there’s a social dynamic at hand, and I’m not only talking about making friends (which has merits in itself). By playing other people in a room, you have other people analyzing your game. It’s easy to get direct feedback about what works/doesn’t work about your game. Unique ideas come quicker than searching and asking in online forums. In a room, you can discuss in real time about strategies… develop gameplans and counters. Also, when it comes to tournament time, you HAVE TO be comfortable in a room where there are people watching, talking, yelling, coaching…
As for waiting your turn… what’s the rush? What’s the story of the young and old bull again?
The young bull tells the old bull “Let’s go run down there and screw *one *of them lively looking cows.” Then the old bull says, “No, son. I’ll WALK down there a screw them ALL.”
Anyways, we also have a COMMUNITY here that we’re trying to develop, and keep alive and thriving. Ultimately, we can’t be TOO picky. But if YouTube works for you, then hey, do what you do.
As stated before, I can’t speak for Tekken. But the HDR crowd just got a really good, albeit small, grind session going the other day. There are a few of us that do plan to wreck some heads at EVO. Kind of relating to what I was saying earlier, it’s a COMMUNITY thing. We can’t expect people to do things for us if we don’t contribute to the cause.
basically what thrust said…
sorry i missed the session man… this flu is killing me
I always walk.
thrust be spittin’ some knowledge!
That old bull is greedy as fuck if you ask me.
actually thrust07 i think i’ve seen your name here the most and i’ve been eager to see how i would stack up vs you. you are what, from 707 area? apparently the comp there is moreso than the comp i was looking for here 650/415 area. the only time i really venture that far is if i’m snowboarding and going up towards that way. if you are down i’d like to challenge you sometime (especially if you are in sf/dc area). obviously at the moment, even online is not possible since you seem to play xbox and i play on ps3.
as far as community you speak of, i see ZERO here in my area who’s down to battle for this game, and it’s safe to say more than half that post in the forums (in general) do not know how to play well - if i’m wrong, i hope to challenge them. there’s maybe 1 or 2 people i battle offline. whether by choice or not, youtube - from my most recent experience has taught me alot with regards to this game, sometimes alot more than actual gameplay with people around here.
btw - trust me, i’m very comfortable with battling in a group and i think i would do decently in a tournament setting where much pressure is involved. the waiting your turn thing, it comes down to actual playing time vs observing. imo, actual playing time is better for improving skills than watching (but if there’s no comp period, then watching is the only choice - hence youtube). and last, i think most of my training for this game has come from 1vs1 sessions and online gameplay, and imo - it helps in improving faster than group setting.
All good homie. No rush. There’s always the next session. Get better!
Ahhhhhh, mah neggah, playing ST is making my age show!
P.S. I’m coming to your next, next gathering to fuck some cows, brother!
415 born, 650 living and raised
The community here in the area is small. I know about 4 players not including myself from the 415/650 who play HDR, and a few more from outlying areas… but we’re some alright guys who can pretty much hold their own and just want to get better at the game for EVO. You probably haven’t met anyone because you don’t come to the posted gatherings and I don’t believe you’ve been going to the tourneys like Fuddruckers or NCR.
4 players is a lot when there is little scene, ahahahahha.
What’s with all this “battle” stuff? It feels like you’re a little confrontational or out to prove something… Whatever. We can play sometime, but I do this as a service to the community versus you and me one on one giving beatings to each other in a silly ass little game. I’m sure all the other players would like to play you as well to diversify their knowledge.
I’ll inform you of the next get together, as I’ve kinda set up my place to get some small gatherings going. If you’re cool, we can continue the gatherings if the planets and stars align properly.
Besides, I only battle when real lives are on the line. Kill Bill style.
bump
Good lord, you’ve awakened this lonnnnnnnnnnnnng dead thread.
Post here. Not sure if you’re looking for HDR specifically, but it’s probably now the best place to post.
I play whenever there’s a casual gathering or when we can get enough guys out
There’s also the SouthTown Arcade Ranbats on Sunday, November 27th that would probably be a good excuse for everyone to come out of the woodwork.
