That was a shitty job. Making 3 bucks an hour to walk through ghetto trash while being taunted and threatened by hoodlums because I had the audacity to be white got old fast. Didn’t help that the uniform I had to wear was blue and the local gang colors were red.

Things are fucked and the odds are very rarely in your favor.

Things ain’t fucked, and despite the fact that the world is owned and ran by the biggest assholes in the population, you’ve got a lot of odds in your favor.

(I assume you have survived to your current age without unreasonable difficulty and expect to continue doing so, still have most of your teeth, own the computer into which you type messages about how badly the odds are against you, are literate enough to type said messages yourself, and live in a country where you can put them online without being thrown into a dungeon for the rest of your life.)

The world has its problems and they must be addressed. But let’s not leap to any conclusions about how it’s all fucked. It’s a bit of a leap from “I don’t have the solution” to “the solution doesn’t exist”.

There is nothing wrong with english class but, its obviosly something wrong with english class being the climax in your lifes story. I still find it rather sad that racial issues are brought up right away just because Zimmerman (who isn’t even 100% white) is white and Martin is black. Creating racism in situations where racism doesn’t exist is one of the saddest things in cases like these. Everyone is so eager to play the race card when it benefits them, especially the media.
