Teams that are "looking" strong thus far..(strictly theory fighting)

damn we’ve gotta figure that out at some point, why’s it hate you?

Albert Wesker - Dr Doom is basically clockwork 2.0.
Throw in any third character and you are ready to compete lol It really doesn’t matter who either. That team is versatile already.

…Really? C’mon, how could you leave X-23 off that list?

X-23 looks like she’ll be all up in your shit as one of the fastest rushdown chars, she has a fast divekick, a command grab, her hops that can crossup or allow strings etc., she has a frickin’ low hitting assist with great range and speed. She looks like a fantastic complement to Wesker so far! Having them both on a team means irregardless of who’s on point, you can have a low hitting assist, and with X-23’s dive kick and hops, or Wesker’s teleports, you have unblockables ready to go. They’re both fast rush-down characters, it just seems like they complement each other extremely well, and definitely a more natural combo then Wesker/Felicia, Wesker/Chun, or Wesker/Morrigan, and Wesker/Viper is debatable, personally I see X-23 and Wesker as being more complementary then Viper and Wesker.

Just thinking, Doom or Taskmaster with Hidden Missles or Vertical Bow seem like they’ll be complementary to rushdown chars/grapplers who need to get in, specifically because they’ll make it so going against keepaway characters isn’t as bad, with some of the assists for approaching like Doom rocks, part of the problem is that a char like Storm who can retreat to the skies completely avoids you and runs the clock free, but with the projectile rain assists, they can still work on a keepaway opponent.

Wesker goes really well with a low or high hitting assist to compliment his mixups. I didn’t spend much time with him, but I found Felicia’s low hitting assist to be absolutely amazing supporting him.

Do you guys think Ammy’s Coldstar is the new Doom rocks? To me they seem comparable enough, and Ammy seems to be a much better overall character at the moment. However, as I mentioned before, nobody really seems to be exploring MvC3 Doom. I’d really like to see someone put him on point for a change. He may have some good shit, but people are still omg rockz.

No, Ammy is definitely good and definitely an extremely solid char, but Coldstar isn’t the new Doom rocks- Doom rocks were so good because they basically meant you could get in on the opponent free, because projectiles wouldn’t beat rocks and so your opponent was forced to block, so rushdown chars could get up in their face. Coldstar has limited range because it’s diagonal, and doesn’t cover approaches so much- the way it works is more like Chun legs, in that it serves to lockdown an opponent in block for you. Doom rocks=approach tool, Ammy Coldstar=pressure tool. Coldstar is definitely good, but it serves a different function, and Doom rocks still is the best assist for what it does.

Stfuqfthuymvjf!!!

ah yea come to think of it–I’ve yet to see how projectiles interact against Coldstar. Gotta check dem vids. Thx for the insight.

This is the team that I think i’m gonna go with…

She-Hulk (Torpedo, low assist)
Dormammu (Dark Hole, projectile assist)
X-23 (Crescent Scythe, AA assist)

Dormammu will mostly be assist, while She-Hulk and X-23 on point. Both She-Hulk and X-23 use Dorm assist for cover while they try to get close. Dark hole eats up any projectiles coming in their way.
X-23 is fast, has good high/low mixups and a couple of command grabs (one of which is her level 3 hyper). She-Hulk isn’t as quick, but she can take more hits, and dish out more damage. She’s got those dizzy grabs which can set up some brutal combos especially when putting X-23 into the mix. I was tempted to pick X-23’s ankle slicer assist so Shulkie can get some unblockable setups, but Dormammu needs some sort of an AAA that can get opponents off of him if needed. X-23 benefits from both assists, using She-Hulk’s Torpedo for OTG combos.
My only concerns is not being able to DHC Dorm’s chaotic flame… though it may work well with X-23’s level 1 hyper that auto-combos, unless he uses it from a full screen away.

Thoughts?

Switch X-23’s and Shulkie’s assists. Shulkie’s flashkick much better and X-23 low assist will do the same and you good.

I thought of that at first too. But for some reason, I thought X-23 would benefit more from the low assist, but I suppose Shulkie can make use of some good OTG assists as well. Thanks for the feedback.

X-23 really just needs good projectile to help her get and let the crazy shit begins. No idea where she going to come in from, so hard to guard. Shulkie’s AA is just much better.

My team at the moment:
Dante (Jam Session)
Amaterasu (Cold Star)
Super Skrull (not sure what would go well, I don’t know all of his assists well)

Thoughts?

I’m also interested in Viper, Dormammu, Joe, Hsien-Ko, Phoenix, Deadpool and Wesker too.

Current team right now: Felicia-G/Wesker-B/Deadpool-G

My main focus right now is using Felicia’s pressure game to the fullest with the help of Wesker and Deadpool’s assists. Theoretically, I want to get the opponent as close to the corner as possible and try and land some unblockable combos. I still have to test this theory out and if it does work, I am set for my official team.

So far I still think I’m sticking with Capt America/Wolverine/C.Viper. No idea how they’ll look in the big picture combined but separately I just feel like they have some serious mix-ups, especially with capt & wolv being able to cross sides on the ground and all. No idea but thinking it may work well for a while at least.

I asked this in a different thread before, but who goes well with Joe and Deadpool? Do these two mesh together well? Im definantly using these two because they are my favorite characters. I have no idea what assists or strategys to use. As a third character i was thinking either tron, arthur, morrigan, akuma, or hsien-ko if shes in.

Deadpool’s trigger happy can act as AAA, and her also acts as a great battery. I’d say a heavy hitter/low mobility type so you get maximum advantage out of late dhc from the handjob.

I remember seeing dhc just as the status takes working.

Basic idea would be to use 'pool as a battery, and rush with joe until you hit with handjob, then dhc to real damage.

Joe’s assists: Voomarang, Bomb, and SRK.
Deadpool’s assists: angle up shot, forward dashing slice, downward slice.

Deadpool wants the first or last assist, since the last hits OTG and lifts, and the first is a good long range AA, it won’t hit right over you like Corridor style assists, but it does cover a lot of space in an angle in front of joe. for joe I’m guessing you’d want voomerang for space coverage or SRK for s’more anti air. AAAs are always good >_>

Arthur/deadpool goes well together on paper, but then Joe feels like a bad third choice for that pair, so I’d stay away from him.

Obviously I can’t comment on Hsien Ko because she’s not around. Morrigan though has a great AA assist, it’ll cover the air right above you, basically filling the gap left by Deadpool’s for the most part.

Unless you like the high risk type teams, definitely don’t use another rush/keepaway character with weak health.

Get good health chars with good AA assist (Ryu, Thor, etc) that can make a good mid-game guy to stave off some damage from non x-factor meter combos while at the same time dangerous with meters built during mid-game.

Beyond finding the good health chars with AA assist, just think which one is the higher priority for you (mid-game or late game)
eg. Ryu is more versatile since he’s always dangerous with meters but Thor with x-factor lvl 3 just does insane insane damage.
Just imagine x-factor lvl 2 or lvl 3 Thor against slowed down opponents.

Is it wrong to hope that for some reason, Sentinel makes a team with him/it, She-hulk and Akuma work. Some dude in Unity has them in his sig as “Team Cry Some More” and I frankly like the idea.
