Almost there
Honestly, tho when I come into a theory fighting thread. I tend to theory fight. Guessing the winning team at evo isn’t some out of the way type thing. It’s clear storm, IM, and morrigan are strong. IMO they have pretty good syengery

Those people were bad. Sentinel had top health, stupid damage, and a bug where you couldn’t do a normal c.lk c.hp string to launch him on tag-in. His no-frills air-combo did 50% on some characters. Drone Super loop was found almost immediately. He was imminently good when he was released, just not broken yet.
Magneto was the character people slept on.
Well I was about 12 when this would’ve been happening, so you can imagine the relative skill level of the folks I was playing with.
If we could find a way around cable, we can eventually find away around anyone (Modok). Especially since we have no lazers
fyi: Not only did we think Sent was bad at the time, we thought Iceman was top tier. Just a glimpse of early MvC2 before the boom. Mag/Storm/Psy was used early on and often, but not in the RTSD/Mixup style that we have today - you should have seen the hypergrab battle…
Wesker/IM/Chun
low hit assist/uni beam/legs
Sounds like a good team Wesker can use uni beam assist to help aid against beam and keep away chars. Also once he uses tele or something along the lines of that to get in you can lock them down with chun assist and mix up from there.
With IM in he can play a bit of keep away if his smart bombs are as good as they seem from vids then wesker low assist plus tri jump with have great unblockable setups along with of course the GDLK chun legs assist also aid in keeping them pined.
Also with Chun as last if they some how manage to get her as the last character left then you always got Lvl 3 kfc to go hammer and use that speed to make something happen
Overall I think this will be my team for sure and I think it has alot of potential being you can basically use anyone as a point for the start since they all compliment each other in some way.
haha thats jumping the gun a bit early. but i’m interested…care to explain?
I’m also interested on his thoughts on that team. Mostly because I don’t know who the fuck I’m going to put on my main team with Morrigan.
**** The only team that makes sense, Akuma Dante and Wesker. No copying lol. I know you will. But I thought of it first. I officially claim the right muahahaha!
Storm/IM/Morrigan isn’t going to win Evo or even be a serious team at top level.
Maybe, and I’m stressing MAYBE! Something will come up and the team will be viable. Hoewver, the part before the or I am 100% certain on. You can quote me on it.
Both IM and Storm are very solid stand alone characters With a good DHC punch to them. Morrigan also looks solid, but I haven’t seen as much from her.
Winning Evo is a long shot for any team at the moment, or even a year after it’s released.
There’s no doubt that Iron Man, Storm, and Morrigan are very strong looking characters with a lot of options, but I’m just curious how exactly they would mesh together.
Well, he has a better chance saying “this team is not gonna win EVO”. Statistic based credibility
To me the team seems like three solid point characters that don’t mesh very well.
That’s the thing though. As it stands it’s just three nice characters. There’s no extremely blatant synergy there… Sure there’s three nice assists, but they’re not necessarily best in class, nor do they appear to particularly offer much as combo extension for either of the other two. Plus their DHC options seem limited, which is why I’m saying I’m skeptical of them as a very strong team unless something is discovered with them.
edit:
Nitro and :034: pretty much sum it up.
Plus, most importantly I’m not running that team at evo 2k11.
Don’t make fun of the characters I want to play. =(
Thor–Mighty Smash assist for pressure
Haggar–Lariat assist for anti air & lockdown like Chun legs (presumably)
Hulk–Gamma Wave assist for projectile cover or Gamma Charge for anti-rushdown
With Thor on point I actually think that team maybe decent against rushdown. Thor–>Hulk should have some great DHCs. Hulk has great get the fuck off me assists. Seth says that Haggar has the new “Psylock” assist, which I’m presuming is his lariat. Thor really needs an anti air assist, which either partner should be able to provide. I think Haggar could possibly manage on point if Hulk uses projectile assist. Thor’s Mighty Smash assist should benefit either of his partners, plus it OTGs IIRC. That means they can probably use it to extend their combos after the air magic series knockdown. If they can’t extend their combo then at least it should lead to some good resets. Haggar’s anti air grab should be good in resets.
Biggest things they gonna lack is full screen punishes and safe DHCs.
So yes THEY WINNING DAT Evo as long as nobody plays keepaway
I’m thinking Wesker/Deadpool/Taskmaster might work well. Depending of course on what Taskmaster’s Assists end up being.
Wesker Low assist + Task command overhead
Deadpool Trigger Happy for covering the air
Counter moves/hypers as a get off me.
Deadpool guns Hyper DHC into Task Arrows or Vice versa, depending on spacing Maximum Wesker as well.
Both Wesker and Deadpool teleports to get around walls of crap.
And if Task has Vertical Arrows assist that would be a good way for Wesker to get in close.
Really depends on what Taskmasters assists actually are.
I think a Wesker team is very likely to take it
I believe the DHC factor is there. Ice Storm/Lightning Storm to Photon Cannon or vise versa seems like it’s gonna very safe and will do a lot of damage.
Storm can Whirlwind as IM air dashes in and goes for triangle jumps. Just something to cover the ground while IM covers the air.
Repulsor Blast covers a lot of space already (Not sure if it sucks in or not in this game), so both Storm and Morrigan can really benefit from that offensively and defensively.
I will say that I don’t see how Morrigan will mesh as well in this, but she has that AAA. AAAs are always good imo, haha.
I think Storm and Iron Man can work, but you’d need a good tertiary character to top it off. You’ve got a good DHC with Ice Storm, but you need a finishing third if you really need to load out damage. Iron Man can’t KFC his hyper into another and I haven’t seen a Storm player do it either. Morrigan isn’t exactly great DHC material… Maybe her pillar hyper (Shadow Servant) or Astral Vision but that’s not exactly gonna pile on the damage.
That I think would be the main problem with Iron Man/Storm/Morrigan, you’ll want a heavy hitter. Also one with a good assist that can cover Storm. Uni-Beam is pretty good, but not the best of his class and since you mentioned Repulsor Blast you probably wanna use that as an assist.
The secondary problem would be that with IM/Sto/Mor you got three characters that do about the same thing. Rushdown with speed over power. You need a more all-around character, preferably a power character if you wanna keep it on rushdown, or use a keepaway character and switch your strategy with IM, making him half-keepaway, half-rushdown. He can zone with his beams and bombs and his speed is certainly useful when running away.
I think something like Iron Man/Storm/Arthur could work. You’ve got Repulsor Blast/Whirwind assists to help Arthur and he’s great at keepaway. DHC’ing, you can go Bracelet and fire those shots. You can also DHC out of his Powerup hyper and get some good assists going.
Or you pick Doom. Rocks assist. That’s cool too
I always thought both IM and Storm can keepaway and rushdown nicely, but point taken. I think Skrull might work too since he has the damage, supers and assists to help for it.
I actually would like to know who you (or anyone) think are very solid like IM and Storm, where their supers and assists can compliment anyone. Might as well put our heads together for a solid team with the characters who we see are the most solid so far.
