Team Tech Talk Tees (Shirts Are Shipped!)

You should check out Zazzel.com, you could create your own store front, upload your shirt design and have folks order it direct from them. Would be an alternative for non personalized shirts. Their shirts are quality too, I’ve ordered from them before.

Zazzle is print on demand like Cafepress. I want someone who does screen printing. This process uses emulsion ink rather than having an image printed on a shirt. The process is more spendy and involved. It produces a better result. I am more than likely going to get Hanes beefy tees. They are supposed to be high quality shirts that are not as spendy as American Apparel. Once I have the costs I will let you know the difference.

I’m sorry this stupid thing keeps dragging out. I went by there on Monday and requested a quote. They were supposed to have called me. I’ll call during lunch. My girl baby and I have been sick all this week. I haven’t been around the computer much as a result.

Yo keep it cool Kyle. Tech Talk knows that if they want quality, they gotta wait. And when we do, we get amazing results. Don’t feel pressured, you’re hooking us up.

I went over there for a half hour during lunch today and got everything sorted out. We should have a preorder ready by Monday if everyone is in agreement.

This sounds like the shirts will be pretty expensive, good luck with it, Kyle. I can try to offer my expertise if you need it.

They should not be too expensive. The pricing should be close to what I quoted earlier.

One of these days I’ll buy some screens and start making shirts to support the srk.

Yay!

Let’s play the numbers game:

Base price of shirts is right at $10 (using their generic brand shirts).

Upgrade to Hanes Beefy T is +$1.25. From what I’ve read this is the best out of the non-spendy shirts.
Hanes 5180 Beefy-T® - Born To Be Worn T-Shirt - BlankShirts.com

Upgrade to American Apparel is +$2.50. This was less than I expected. Here is the shirt she recommended:
American Apparel | Made in Downtown LA | t-shirts for wholesale and consumer

Names are 25 cents per letter with 8 max characters.

Numbers are $1.00 each with a max of 3 characters. The guy said 3 numbers would be tight. If you want 3 numbers please also supply a 2 number alternative if it doesn’t work out.

3XL is an extra $2.50. This is actually good because many places also charged for 2XL.

Example:

Kazujiro #61: $12.50 for AA + $2 for 8 chars + $2 for 2 numbers = $16.50 + ship.

That doesn’t sound expensive for a customized shirt. I’ve paid more for regular tees.

Discuss…

Cheap at twice the price, Im in. TOODLES #42, and I’m thinking a beefy T, but I need to check my T’s to see if I have one to compare with.
And there should be no need for anyone to ‘claim’ a number. Someone picks the same number as I gets a beer, not a stare-down. That’s a chick thing, not a guy thing.

Yeah, we need a consensus on the shirt manufacturer. The Beefy T would knock off another $1.25 in price if you guys wanted it. I’ll see if I can find one locally. My only concern is I’m not enough of a shirt guy to describe the collar etc. I could tell you how it fit and if the thing is comfortable.

-EDIT- (cause kyle ninja’d while i was posting, so i missed it ;))
According to the wife, the AA is going to have a more comfortable feel than the beefy. I don’t know the ins and outs, but she’s a hobby-seamstress, read the info and told me.

edited edit (she explained a little ;)):
AA is a Jersey knit. A higher cotton thread count. (if you know sheets with low and high thread count, you know how different it can feel. Any regular hotel visitor will know that) And, she said, if it’s only a dollar difference, it’s well worth it.
-/EDIT-

Ok, question time. Things brought up by Wife®. Because she wants one too squee.

A. Can you do a symbol in the name? For instance, the ®, used in wife?
B. Can you do a size for a VERY young child? Smallest size 12m. if not that 2T, and if not that, no worries, i’ll go smallest size available

Here we go, i want 3:

WildWon
88
American Apparel - Large

Wife® (or if no symbols- WildWife)
75
AA - Med

WildToo
12
AA for shirt smallest size available (or toddler size 12month or 2T preferred)

Heh, i was asking Wife® about which shirt type would feel better, she came over and said "Well, i want one too, if we end up out at tourneys and cons together… hell, get one for the kid too :)."
Kickarse.

Another Edit @Toodles-
I misunderstood how the numbers were happening. I thought this was actually going down as “team shirts” and people were claiming numbers. Kyle explained and i apologized. It wasn’t a big deal when i first brought it up either (it was supposed to be half-jokingly pointing it out), but i was wrong all around. Now i grok it.

I vote American Apparel. Seeing as $1.25 is hardly that much of a step up, I’d want that for a nice tee that I’ll probably be wearing regularly. Since I can’t get “FightShirt 2,” I’ll take two “Nerrage 32” in mediums.

Well, I’m definitely down no matter which T gets picked. My only concern is that I prefer thick over thin, even if the thin one is a softer, higher thread count. I checked my closet and I haven’t found any beefy or AA T’s to compare to, so I can’t vote for a specific one.

I’m down for the extra on the AA shirt if people say it’s worth it. I’d rather have a thicker shirt in the end that’s comfy.

*Names are 25 cents per letter with 8 max characters.

Honestly I don’t know the answer to either of these. My guess would be no to the symbol. I will ask. I also like the idea of a baby tee considering I have a kiddo. I think it would require the use of a different screen though due to size.

The lady at the store describe the AA as lighter feeling. It is 4.3 oz versus the beefy at 6.1.

I’ll get one either way, but if you’re looking for opinions, mine is to with the beefy.

In my head a heavier shirt also sounds better. I’ll just wait to see what everyone says.

My votes for American Apparel.

American apparel is definitely a thinner feeling shirt than a beefy.
