I managed to tief my friend’s SC2 Hori for the GC (yuck) until my convertors arrive. Really loving Polymer who I will most likely main however Im still undecided who to pair him up with? I dont know if want to bother with Ryu even though he is probably a sensible option. Probably going to experiment with: Casshern, Batsu and Ken.
Try Viewtiful Joe. Polymer’s assist allows him to land his level 1 cannon super for a lot of damage.
Megaman is a nice option too, since his assist can probably help Polymer’s combos, and his machine gun DHC is good when used alongside the drill super.
roll has really good synergy with casshern
roll helps extend combos, puddles, projectiles, can help set up unblockables.
casherns assist really helps her rushdown easier. she cans safely combo into her roll sweep with help from his dhc.
tekkaman gives roll a way to heal while doing 23000 damage.
yatterman gives roll a way to deal 28000 on any otg combo with 2 meters.
I’ll try them two out though Im not really a big fan of either lol.
17000+ damage for 1 bar of super that is guaranteed out of just about any combo is very very ridiculous. It’s like MvC2 Iron Man’s Photon Cannon except it only works with Polymar’s assist. Looks better than that though ^^.

I’m interested in playing Jun when this game comes out. Who works well with her? I’ve seen vids of Keits using Tekkaman with her (another character I’m interested in), and I saw someone played Ryu with her at SBO…
Jun works well with almost anyone to be honest. Personally I like playing her with Morrigan, Tekkaman or Viewtiful Joe. For only 2 meter she can do a lot of damage by using her 236 yo-yo super to DHC into slow but powerful level 1 supers like Tekkaman’s laser shower. Her assist is great for carrying combos and helping characters who have ranged pressure (Rock Vulnut/Saki/Morrigan)
yatterman aint bad you can go from air bombs to his super. but i think there assists suck for eachothter justa bit but still usable. you can dhc her in very safely by qcf super into her fast short range super safely against alot of characters.
jun ryu is a popular team which is really simple and has good zoning abilities. i think someone top 8d at sbo with that team. with morrigan its prolly the same. none of these characters have anything really difficult that you need to know how to do in order to play them, simple pick up and play team.
chun assist can works well with her as she has such good air combo options.
shes a really great all around character and very independently strong and can work with most teams probably, with simple fireball assists being ideal but not required.
Old ass thread lol.
But yeah, Jun’s pretty straightforward all around, she’s got a basic ranged assist with a good coverage area and a fairly standard looking moveset just with the sticky bombs instead of a normal projectile, which isn’t all that weird really. She’s just quicker than most, which is her main strong point. With that said, pick a secondary character who compliments your style.
Jwong plays Jun/Chun.
I like Jun/Yatterman, for the reasons Shiki said above.
Ken/Casshan has been my main team from day one but that might change if any of the new characters really floats my boat. Don’t know if I can say the pair has anything specific that makes them work especially well together but I do enjoy the various Friender nonsense which can either lead to big damage or get you out of a jam.
I really like Casshern and Morrigan, but I don’t think that they go well together because of the fact that they both are fairly short range characters.
I usually play Morrigan with Ken so that I can decide the pace of the match, but I’m not really sure who I would put Casshern with, mostly using him with Ryu or Karas so far.
At least from the videos we’ve seen so far, I’m gonna say that Ryu and Frank might have good synergy if just for the zombie grab, Ryu assist, shopping cart (or vice versa) to Mega Buster.
Who goes best with these 3 (my favs so far): Tekkaman Blade (prolly way too early to bring him up, but we’ve seen enough for those who know the game to make a judgement not counting the hopefully-soon-to-be-shown-fighting characters), Soki, and Cashern?
edit: since there’s so many changes coming up with current characters/the game’s system, and still more characters, nm this post. >_<
Like Leady said, it’s really way too early to make this call, even for some of the old characters. However, As it stands, Ryu assist works well with just about everyone on the damn cast.
i’ll agree that jun works well with anyone. so does ryu. i use tekkaman/ken, saki/karas, casshern/karas quite a bit. i play the hell out of polymar, jun, ryu and batsu too, but i dont really have set teams with them. i bet frank west will be similar to ryu since his assist stuns them. shit like that works well with anyone.
I like Yatterman/ Joe
Even though Casshern/Roll is my main team and I won’t change them for nothing as my mains, I have been training with Roll/Rock during these last weeks (part of the reason about why I got interested in this team of becuase of the Japanese tourney videos), and I have to say that they work really good together, Rock’s assist is a beautiful help for Roll and viceversa.
Well, and as for assists goes, Ryu does works for everyone (I think the same will be said about Frank’s later), although this could be said about Morrigan too since her assist is somehow similar to Ryu’s. And I do not want to look like a Fanboy or anything, but Roll’s assist is one of the most useful of the game as well IMO.
Frank’s assist looks like it barely has any hitstun and is kind of hard to time, unlike Ryu’s hadouken.
Another good general use assist is Jun, which is going to be buffer in the US version now that it also leaves a bomb on people.
Rolls easily top 5 assists in the game. i would personally put it at #2. long as heck stun, extra space control unblockables and random uncombos has good vertical range too (actually makes it worse lol)
problems with it are its shortish range, medium speed, stagger state making assist hard to use for double ground chain combos, and the unblockables being hard to use outside of tag in. strictly the assist is overall worth the trade over most other assists in a lot of cases.
problem is she SUCKS on point. even with her best partners she generally needs to be played with switching characters as a key goal. with any of the hoard of useless partners for her she is certainly worst in the game in any reasonable fight.
1 vs 1 late game is fine for her against enough of the cast though, due to various situational benefits and not fighting top tier point characters which are hopefully either dead or about to die.
shell be bumped in the US version enough to be really good though i think, though she’ll still only be able to shine with a few characters probably but be much more capable in general
