Portland Metro people, as you’re probably all aware, Ground Kontrol is hosting a large tournament this Saturday. If you’re not going to be in Gamestop’s Round Two, I’d definitely like to encourage everyone to show some support for the local scene.
Which basically means I’d like to meet as many of you as possible at the tournament.
do you know whats going on after? I heard mention of 5 guys and fries. I am going to the game stop thing but that should be done pretty quickly after 2
Here you go all… www.myspace.com/weaponexscene I figured this would be a good way for everyone to keep in touch, especially because SRK is down quite a bit these days
Ground Kontrol tonight for Free Play Wednesday. Ground Kontrol on Saturday for Slugfest 3. Weekly gaming at PSU (can’t remember which day). Preppy’s Twice Monthlys up in Seattle area. Nothing else is coming to mind off the top of my head, but I know a few guys wanna do Live tourneys, so I’m going to work on figuring out how to structure those if nobody else wants to step up soon.
What kind of video equipment do you have? Camera? Capture card? Etc…
Another idea… mebbe… would be running Team Portland bios. Mini-interviews like reduced versions of what Keits has been doing for the main site.
Then again… do we actually need another site? I have a hunch that SRK will be getting a lot better when it comes to server uptime.
I’m all for organization and initiative; I’m just one of those guys that prefers to have it all in a central location.
Props for wanting to contribute to the community and local scene.
Kenny, I like all your ideas. Let’s do it. I’ll start working on a bio layout & get back with what I come up with. Love the mini interview idea also. I just have a camera so maybe brain storming this one a little more would be helpful. I like everything in one location also, but I think this would be nice just for the locals because it will prevent alot of clutter. I will post all the group links and good info links to link into SRK on there also.
Hmm. I love your enthusiasm, man. That being said… I’m still pretty new to SRK and the local scene. So new… that I haven’t even made it to a local event yet (unless if you include the Gamestop gig). Maybe you’re a local community veteran who’s just recently joined SRK, but your join date says you’ve been around for less than two weeks. While good ideas are good ideas, if there’s one thing I’ve learned from my interactions here… it’s that getting too driven without first building relationships and reputation within the community isn’t the best way to get started.
That being said, I’ll do what I can to help the community grow (in numbers and in quality), but I don’t want to go stepping on feet.
Again, I love your enthusiasm… I just want to be cautious about doing anything that may warrant backlash.
Also… I hate MySpace. ( ) I prefer the forum for everything, but if an external site needs to be used… is Google an option (they have a new system that may work for this pretty well)?
Name: Gabe
Location: Vancouver, WA
Xbox Gamertag: Jealentus, but I only have HD Remix
PS3 Gamertag: Jealentus - SF4 & HD Remix
GGPO: N/A
AIM: Gabe7288
Can I Kick It? - Yes, my roomate is a gamer and we would be pleased to play other SF players. I’m willing to meet up with anywhere but I primarily play at Ground Kontrol. I need a new radiator though, so I couldn’t really go to someone’s house until I get that replaced in a week or so.
Games you play: I’m mostly playing SF4 but before it came out I was playing a lot of HD Remix. I still stick to my roots and have my SNES with 2 Turbo hooked up. I’m up for any Street Fighter though
Competetive or Casual: Fairly casual, I’m really only good with Shotos and have very little arcade experience. I’m piecing together a custom Sanwa right now though so I plan on becoming competitive.
Hey, mgdemitri, are you the Artur that is friends with Anthony?
I might go I might not, I work graveyard so my sleep schedule is a little hard to get around.
Sorry about yesterday, see, Anthony asked me if I wanted to come play SF with you guys and I said I was interested and if I got out of work early enough I would. I had to stay an hour and a half later and woke up late, and then my mom showed up and we went out to dinner. Sorry for flaking. We’ll have to set something up on one of my days off.
Playing off of WeaponEX’s idea (following the initiative of Noz/slcs)… I put together this quick and dirty framework of a site on Google. It’d be used as a Northwest (Portland, Seattle, everything else in our region) player directory, list of scheduled events, and recordings of local matches.
If you’re interested, let me know. If you hate the idea/don’t think it necessary, it’s no skin off my back if it’s scrapped, but I’d still appreciate your feedback (positive or negative).
I can copy a lot of info off of this thread, but didn’t want to add anyone to a directory without getting approval first.
nice, i like the link to the “Match Videos” we should start getting some matchs goin worth recording lol. do you need to have some kind of account to put your name on the roster?
If… there is any support for that site thingem… videos can just be organized and embedded on those pages… that are actually hosted on YouTube. YouTube is definitely the best idea (and a part I forgot to mention when bringing up the idea).
Metal Health (and anyone else)… just lemme know if you wanna be put on the roster. I don’t plan on setting it up for everyone to add/edit information on the site… I plan on doing all of that myself. It’s a little more work for me… but it keeps stuff consistent in style.
Do you wanna be added to the team roster hosted on that site?
